Nanxun Ancient Town is not as famous as other water towns in South China, such as Zhouzhuang, Tongli, and Wuzhen. It is thanks to this that Nanxun has managed to retain its original features and traditional culture. It is recognized as the most authentic and tranquil water town.
WHY Nanxun?
*Nanxun is one of the relatively least visited water towns in the area. You won't find the huge crowds that swarm Zhouzhuang, Tongli, or Wuzhen. You can visit it at your own pace.
*This town is less commercialized than many of its competitors. It is more authentic and soulful. You will see local people washing clothes, sipping tea, or playing cards beside the water.
*The town has an interesting mix of European styles, which makes this place a little different from other water towns.
*Besides sightseeing, you will be provided with rich cultural experience, such as making Chinese writing brushes.

Nanxun Ancient Town, known as the ‘the land of fish and rice’ and ‘silk market’, is a charming tourist destination.Located on the Hangjiahu (Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou) Plain of the Yangtze River Delta, to the east of Huzhou City in northern Zhejiang Province and adjacent to Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province, Nanxun Ancient Town once was the richest among the six ancient towns in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang area.

Nanxun Ancient Town is not as famous as other water towns in South China, such as Zhouzhuang, Tongli, and Wuzhen. It is thanks to this that Nanxun has managed to retain its original features and traditional culture. It is recognized as the most authentic and tranquil water town.

With a history of over 1,400 years, the town came to prominence during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279) due to its prospering silk industry. In the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), it was one of the important commercial centers.
WHY NANXUN??
Nanxun Water Town shares the typical features of other southern water towns: arched bridges, canals, narrow lanes, and old houses. But, for several reasons, Nanxun is the pick of the crop.

湖州是一座具有2300多年历史的江南古城，建制始于战国。处在太湖南岸，东苕溪与西苕溪汇合处，是环太湖地区因湖而得名的城市。Huzhou is an ancient city of Jiangnan with a history of more than 2,300 years. Its establishment began in the Warring States Period. Located in the southern bank of Taihu Lake, the junction of Dongtionxi and Xitiaoxi is a city named after the lake in the Taihu Lake region.

Huzhou  is a prefecture-level city in northern Zhejiang province, China. Lying south of the Lake Tai, it borders Jiaxing to the east, Hangzhou to the south, and the provinces of Anhui and Jiangsu to the west and north respectively. There are transportation links to the provincial capital of Hangzhou 78 km away in the south, Jiangsu and Anhui province in the west, and the metropolitan municipality of Shanghai 150 km to the east.

If you are looking for a getaway to somewhere green and serene that's off the beaten track, then Anji's bamboo forest is the perfect spot for you. It is well known for being the place where parts of the movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon were filmed.
