The Road to Pulau Ubin
mountain bike ride across Singapore to Pulau Ubin.
Update Dec. 2014: I no longer ride this route to Pulau Ubin. Instead I go via East Coast Park and then beside Changi Airport. It is not as direct but it is mostly away from cars/traffic and I no longer get lost. Best time so far from West Coast to Changi village- 1 hour 35 minutes.

Fossil Hybrid HR Review: The Undercover Smartwatch
Somewhere between a traditional timepiece and a smartwatch lies a peculiar product called a “hybrid” watch … and it’s a category that, frankly, I’ve usually ignored. But in my new neighborhood of Greenpoint, Brooklyn – where a flashy $400 Apple Watch still seems a little too “Williamsburg-y” – hybrids strike a better balance for some … and the new Fossil Hybrid HR is the smartest I’ve seen yet. Are a promised two-week battery life and always-on display enough to justify the Fossil Hybrid HR's $195 starting price? Join me for a closer look at this e-ink/analog wearable, in MrMobile’s Fossil Hybrid HR Review!

Passive Takeoff of an Aquatic Drone
Sherbrooke University Water-Air VEhicle (SUWAVE) performing takeoffs, flights and dive landings during the summer of 2016. Presented at ICRA 2017, Singapore. More information can be found in the following article:
Peloquin, R. A., Thibault, D., & Lussier Desbiens, A. (2017). Design of a Passive Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aquatic UAV. IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, 2(2), 381-388.
Abstract:
With the goal of extending Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) mission duration, a solar recharge strategy is envisioned with lakes as preferred charging and standby areas. The Sherbrooke University Water-Air VEhicle (SUWAVE) concept developed is able to takeoff and land vertically on water. The physical prototype consists in a wing coupled to a rotating center body that minimizes the added components with a passive takeoff maneuver. A dynamic model of takeoff, validated with experimental results, serves as a design tool. The landing is executed by diving, without requiring complex control or wing folding. Structural integrity of the wing is confirmed by investigating the accelerations at impact. A predictive model is developed for various impact velocities. The final prototype has executed multiple repeatable takeoffs and has succeeded in completing full operation cycles of flying, diving, floating and taking off.

Aur & Tioman Getaway

Fishermen continue Mersing search - 30Sep2011
SINGAPORE: The last day of the official search for the two missing Singaporeans lost in the waters off Pulau Aur has come to an end. But the family of Mr Keith Peck, one of the missing men, has started to seek help elsewhere.
News of the 50,000 ringgit (about S$20,400) reward offered by the family is spreading across the Tanjung Sedili jetty.
But fishermen said it's not about the money.
Fisherman Jia You Soy said: It's not about the money. Even without any reward, if we pass by and we come across the body, we would definitely bring it back.
Most of the fishermen based at Tanjung Sedili travel down south for their catch - away from Pulau Aur and certainly away from where the currents are carrying the two missing Singaporeans.
But word on the ground is that the leader of the fishing community is travelling up north to a town called Endau. He's going to try to spread the word to the fishermen there.
And it's hoped that the search will continue even as official operations end on Friday.
Meanwhile, the families of Mr Keith Peck and Mr Tan Ah Juan left on Friday evening for Singapore.
Success Is No Accident
Against popular belief, success isn't something that falls out of the sky upon the chosen few.
We've been told this lie for far too long!
Nobody is successful because they're better then you or smarter than you.
While I was in Singapore for some random, spur-of-the-moment travel last week, I was blown away by the success of that country.
So, I thought I'd unpack it a little in this video and remove the excuses that could potentially stop you from succeeding.
Successful people follow proven methods and repeat those methods to duplicate results - it's that simple.
Now go succeed!
Luke
