Sayulita, Nayarit Mexico is a beautiful quaint little town 50 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, known for great little restaurants, shops, surf and beach bars. I love to spend a few days there on every trip to P.V. This year I met Miguel and Helena driving from the CA bay area all the way to Tulum, Mex. I shot some areal footage of the area and of them surfing. Wish I had close ups of them, but here is a glimpse of the area. Enjoy! Views from Sayulita

Sayulita is a beautiful chilled-out beach town on Mexico's Pacific Coast. With a population of only 4000, this is an escape from the nearby big city of Puerto Vallarta, but Sayulita can also be a trip on it's own!

I was only planning to stay here for 4 days, but I kept extending my stay here again and again as I could not leave this place! Everyday was an exciting journey, full of surprises! During my time here, I saw baby turtles get realeased into the ocean, a night beach party, a full moon party, yoga sessions on the beach, and more.

The food here is delicious, as you won't find a single McDonalds or chain restaraunt, everything is local and fresh. Grab a taco from a stand for $0.50, or get a great traditional meal for under $4.00 at Mary's.

The views from the beach are spectacular, as you could see from the video.

Sayulita has a special place in my heart, and I will love this little town forever. If you're ever in Western Mexico, Sayulita is a MUST!

*Qué hacer en Sayulita

-Aquí no te vas a aburrir en ningún momento, a pesar de que es un pueblo muy chiquito siempre hay algo con qué distraerse. Puedes caminar por el centro, visitar sus tiendas de artesanías y detenerte en algún bar o café para tomar algo refrescante porque el calor es muy fuerte.

-Pasar el día en la playa, a pie de playa hay varios restaurantes o club’s de playa en los que puedes consumir algo mientras disfrutas del mar y te asoleas o solamente puedes rentar una sombrilla y tapete por $100 y llevar tus propios alimentos.

-Practicar o aprender surf en Sayulita
Si las olas lo permiten podrás aprender o practicar surf en esta bonita playa. Tanto al amanecer como al atardecer se llena de chicos y chicas que les gusta aventurarse en las olas del mar de Sayulita. Hay escuelas donde puedes contratar a un maestro y te dan clase teórica y práctica de surf.

-Visitar la Playa de los Muertos.
Caminando al final de la playa hacia Punta Sayulita se encuentra la famosa playa de Los Muertos, se llama así porque tienes que cruzar el panteón ejidal de Sayulita. La playa es muy tranquila, su oleaje es leve y el agua muy clarita.

*Dónde hospedarse en Sayulita
Nos hospedamos en el Hotel Kupuri, su ubicación es excelente está en el centro y a una cuadra de la playa. Cerca hay restaurante, bares y tiendas.

Cuenta con todos los servicios para que te la pases increíble. Hay wifi, aire acondicionado, baño privado, t.v., alberca que si llevas niños deberás estar muy al pendiente porque es muy profunda y por las mañanas ofrecen un desayuno continental que ya está incluido.

*Dónde comer en Sayulita

En Sayulita hay bastantes opciones para comer pero no puedes irte sin probar son los tacos de camarón y tostadas que venden en los puestos que están a la entrada del centro. Uno se llama “El Rinconcito” y el otro “Aquí con María”, los dos son buenas opciones, además de que sus precios son muy accesibles. Llega temprano porque se acaba todo muy rápido.

Para la comida visita “El Itacate” y prueba uno de bistec. El itacate es un alambre envuelto en chicharrón de queso súper rico y puedes ponerle limón, salsa y te aseguramos que no te vas a arrepentir. Prueba sus aguas frescas, en cuanto a los precios son bastante accesibles.

Y para la cena te recomendamos “La Rústica”, es un restaurante bastante coqueto, con un menú muy amplio. Nosotros ordenamos la pizza Sayulita que está buenísima, te la recomendamos mucho.

I created this video to celebrate my fourth year of hula hooping, my current year of travels, and the magical town I have fallen in love with: Sayulita, Mexico. I love calling this colorful and quaint town, “home.” Many thanks to chingón rappers, Rap & Wave for the music and inspiration, Tim Baldwin for collaborating and producing, and Su Casa for being such a sweet spot to jam at night with my LEDs. Thanks to everyone in Sayulita, travelers, expats and locals, all my dearest friends.

Creé este video para celebrar mi cuarto año de hula hooping, mi año de viajar y el pueblo mágico con el cual me enamoré, Sayulita, Mexico. Me encanta considerar este mi hogar. Muchísimas gracias a los rapistas chingones, Rap & Wave, para la música y inspiración, Tim Baldwin para hacer producción y Su Casa para ser un lugar chido donde bailar por la noche con mis hula hoops LED. Gracias a todos las personas en Sayulita, viajeros, expatriados y lugareños, mis amigos sinceros.

Paseo desde la Plaza de Sayulita a la Playa, Riviera Nayarit, México

Sayulita ya se hace nombre como pueblo para aquellos que les gusta el surf, comer bien y vivir de manera relajada.

Se ubica en la que ahora es conocida como Riviera Nayarit, entre Punta Mita por el sur y San Pancho (San Francisco) por el norte. Está a unos 40 km de Puerto Vallarta, o sea entre 45 y 60 minutos en auto.

El Pueblo Mágico Sayulita ofrece muy buenas condiciones naturales para la práctica del surf, una amplia playa de Sayulita Nayarit con olas ideales todo el año. Las disfrutan los deportistas locales, de las grandes urbes de México y extranjeros, por ejemplo, de EEUU, Canadá y Europa. La mejor temporada es de diciembre a abril y se realizan varios torneos del deporte.

Desde el año 2015, el pueblo ha tenido la distinción de Pueblo Mágico, un reconocimiento a los pueblos y habitantes que han sabido resguardar la riqueza cultura, natural e histórica de México, ofreciendo una experiencia especial a los visitantes.

Sayulita México también se reconoce por su artesanía y joyería, con exponentes en arte huichol y cora.

Otras actividades que se ofrecen en la playa de Sayulita y alrededores incluyen la práctica de esnorquel (snorkeling), kayak, pesca, ATV, tirolesas, caminatas, paseos a caballo y en bicicleta (mountain bikes).

En la época de verano llegan también ejemplares de la tortuga golfina a desovar en las playas de la región.

La comida es excelente en Sayulita Nayarit, en especial lo que está relacionado con el mar, por ejemplo, debes probar huachinango, marlin, dorado en alguno de los muchos restaurantes del lugar. Otras buenas opciones son los ceviches, ensaladas de pulpo y camarones, no te olvides probar el guacamole y una gran variedad de margaritas.

Los viernes son de Tianguis (mercado local itinerante) que se instala en calle Revolución, un mercado del pueblo con todo tipo de productos locales orgánicos.

Sayulita Riviera Nayarit Mexico está a pocos minutos de San Pancho por lo que es buena idea combinar la visita de ambos en su viaje a la zona. Es una de las playas de Nayarit Mexico más populares. Sayulita Puerto Vallarta quedan muy cerca el uno del otro, aunque toma cerca de una hora llegar.

A Little Hidden Gem: Playa Los Muertos Beach Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico

Playa de Los Muertos Sayulita is a great beach option when you are in that area. If you are visiting Sayulita Nayarit you can get there by car or, even better, walking from the downtown area, it's north-west, 1500 feet from the main beach, some 15-20 minutes walking, you go up a small hill, pass by the cemetery and you are there.

If you go by car from Sayulita Nayarit Pueblo Magico, you need to follow the beachside street going to the left, it's quite narrow, so at times you'll need to stop or scoot over if there are cars coming back to town from Los Muertos beach.

Playa Los Muertos Sayulita (which literally means the Beach of the Dead) is called that way because it's found right beside a cemetery, despite the name, it's a quiet, relaxing beach, with soft waves, clear waters and sand, bounded by boulders facing north. Off to the left, beyond the bounding rocks you can enjoy great snorkeling, you'll see schools of colorful fish and other sea life.

It's much more relaxed and placid when you compare it to the one in downtown Sayulita Mexico, so if you wonder what to do in Sayulita Mexico that is different, you can walk to this beach and rent a parasol there or bring your own, you can also rent lounge chairs, there are places that sell food, seafood, pizzas and more at very reasonable prices. Ideal place to just lay back and enjoy a day by the sea.

Playa de Los Muertos Nayarit is a clean, quiet beach and even though its not so big, it is quite charming, kids love it too, as the beach is very placid, with few waves, small ones if there are, so they can build sand castles and not worry about being washed away :-)
