140m runway of inflatable wowed the Chengdu City Pop-up inflatable turns the city into a a playground On 8th August 2015, which is the 7th National Fitness Day of China to commemorate Beijing Olympics, Hong Xing Lu of Chengdu is turned into a colorful city playground. A 140m-long track made of inflatables filled up with hilarious monster characters wowed the Chengdu city with an incentive to encourage more exercises from the public. The idea aims at turing the public space into a pop-up playground mainly with the use of elements of inflatables. This project is called “The City Runway” will be open for public for one month in which public are very much welcomed to join this pop-up crazy party.
“The City Runway” is organised by Chengdu IFS together with renowned Korean designer unit “Sticky Monster Lab” and curator AllRightsReserved. The project’s highlight of a 140m-long inflatable runway in the city center is filled with giant inflatables of adorable monsters scattered along the track. There are slides, climbings and obstacles along the track to add the challenges of the race towards the giant trophy. “The City Runway” will be open for public from 8th August to 6th September.
At the opening ceremony, Chinese Olympic gold medal winners, Feng Zhe (gymnastics), Yin Jian (windsurfing), Jiang Wen-wen & Jiang Ting Ting (synchronized swimming) lead 4 teams of citizens to run through the track. These 4 teams represent the spirits of “persistence, optimistic, courage and hope” to kick-off “The City Runway” to share the joy with the public, so as to congratulate Beijing on successful Winter Olympic bid in 2022. Chengdu IFS also supports the underprivileged in the rural areas through this event with the donations of sports equipments via charity “warm current”.

We began our trip by visiting the shopping districts of Shunxi Road, IFS mall, and Taikoo Li (and Davi Temple), we then went to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding where we saw SO MANY PANDAS!!!, then visited the iconic tourist attraction spots: Wide and Narrow Alleys and Jinli. Keep watching and you will also see us devoured some local eats including Sichuan-style hot pot, dan dan noodles, and... wait for it... super popular, spicy rabbit head?! We also took the opportunity to fly our DJI Mavic Pro drone over the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, so be sure to check out all the drone footage!

This Sacred Taoist Temple in Chengdu, China is Bliss
One of Western China's most sacred Taoist structures, the Qingyang Palace (青羊宫) is located west of Tianfu Square in Culture Park. It was originally constructed in the 800s, but has since been rebuilt and expanded. Admission is 10 RMB and it takes about an hour to walk the entire grounds, but give yourself some extra time to stop for tea in their tea house.
