Get serious in spiritual life by HG Amogha Lila Prabhu on 16/11/2019
ISKCON means International society for Krishna consciousness. It was founded by His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta swami Srila Prabhupada in July 1966. When this society was registered in New York, a friend of Srila Prabhupada suggested that it be named the society for God Consciousness ashe thought that the name, Krishna, was sectarian. But Srila Prabhupada did not accept it. Prabhupada explained “yes God has many names and we cannot hit on any one name but Krishna means “all attractive”. God attracts everyone, that’s why srila prabhupada chose Krishna Consciousness instead of God consciousness.
WHY WE ACCEPT ISKCON?
ISKCON is an authorized organization because its Founder Acharya A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada is a part of a disciplic succession of spiritual masters which starts from Lord Krishna. It is also known as Brahma- Madhva- Gaudiya linage. This disciplic succession of spiritual teachers is vitally important within the tradition because it is considered essential to hear from a spiritual master in order to understand the true meaning and purpose of life. So in ISKCON the same message is distributed to the humanity which was spoken by Lord Krishna without any personal interpretations.
When Srila Prabhupada began the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (in New York City in 1966), he formulated a clear mission statement. Thus the 7 Purposes of ISKCON are as follows:
To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all people in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world.
To propagate the consciousness of Krishna (God), as it is revealed in the great scriptures of India, Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam.
To bring the members of the Society together and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members, and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of Supremepersonaity Godhead (Krishna).
To teach and encourage the sankirtan movement, congregational chanting of the holy name of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
To erect for the members and for society at large, a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna.
To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, natural way of life.
with a view towards achieving the aforementioned purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, books and other writings.
Today ISKCON comprises of more than 650 temples all over the world, more than 75000 devotees receives initiation(diksha) within ISKCON, ISKCON has distributed more than 500 million of Prabhupada’s books, over 110 vegetarian restaurants. It also conducts special projects throughout the world, such as “Food for Life”, the only free vegetarian relief program in the world. Over past 50 years ISKCON gave out over 3 billion plates of sanctified food worldwide. It runs 65 Eco villages and farm communities all over the world and It runs 54 educational institutions.

|| A Video About ISKCON Noida Janmashtami Festival || 03 sep 2018 ||
After one crosses the Yamuna River from Delhi, India’s overcrowded capital city, the sight of Noida, a large satellite city in the National Capital Region, creates a welcoming impression. Since 1970, eight hundred thousand people have moved to Noida (short for New Okhla Industrial Development Authority) to take advantage of its wide roads, expansive residential townships, successful economy, excellent infrastructure, and emergence as a major hub for outsourcing and education. Naturally devotees in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness saw an opportunity to build and sustain a congregation here, and their vision proved to be true. Devotees opened a small center here in 1998. Over time, the congregation of families, working youth, and college students grew, as did the need for a suitable temple. Following almost eight years of planning and development, the temple opened on February 12, 2014, with the installation of deities of Radha – Govinda,Gaura-Nitai (Caitanya and Nityananda), and Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra.
Situated on a main boulevard and adjacent to Krishna Jayanti park (owned by the government, maintained by ISKCON), the temple is highly accessible and visible. As modern and progressive as the city it overlooks, still it represents the Caintanya Vaisnava tradition. On either side of the front of the temple are giant reliefs of Sri Caitanya and Nityanada, and the temple opened on the anniversary of Lord Nityananda’s appearance.
ISKCON Establishes Itself
The plot ISKCON secured is small, so the strategy was to “go vertical” to accommodate all of a temple’s typical elements. Topping the seven stories is a sixty-foot spire, its tip 130 feet from the ground.
In the mid 1970s Srila Prabhupada supervised the design of the first full-fledged ISKCON temple in a major Indian city, in Mumbai (Juhu). The Noida temple follows a similar model , with a large temple room, an auditorium, an adjoining guesthouse, a restaurant, a hall for wedding and birthday celebrations a floor for education, and a kitchen and bedrooms in a residential wing. The temple shops, offices and hall are ready for use.
The Stone façade, with balconies, is similar to Srila Rupa Gosvami’s sixteenth –century Radha-Govinda temple in Vrindavan. The façade and the interior also feature hand-carved stone peacocks, elephants, a hundred intricate pillars, jails (lat-ticework), jharokhas (balconies), and chhatris(domed pavilions).
A Boon for Outreach
The new temple will increase and improve ISKCON Noida’s out-reach, festival planning, and congregational development. The building will include the Bhaktivedanta Academy, ensuring that education will be easily available to the congregation. The Academy will have five classrooms, administration space, two large seminar halls, a play school for young children, and a library where vistors can sit at computers to read e-books or download lectures and kirtanas.
Srila Prabhupada wanted ISKCON temples to be places of education, and the Noida temple already offers courses in partnership with the Vrindavan Institute for Higher Education, organized by devotees at ISKCON’s Krsna-Balarama temple in Vrindavan. A commercial center being built a few blocks away will give devotees quick access to many people, improving the opportunity to attract the spiritually inclined to true higher education.

|| KRISHNOSTAV || ISKCON NOIDA || 16 Sep 2018 ||
We know, what a dear friend Arjuna was to Krishna. Such a dear friend, he used to lay down with Krishna. Krishna became his chariot driver. Krishna was so conquered by the love of Arjuna, that he became a menial servant. Being a driver, is a humbling relationship. Is it not? And in Mahabharta, what Krishna did for Arjuna? When Arjuna had to kill Jayadrata by sunset, the whole Kuru Army was in front between Arjuna and Jayadrata. Every single man in the entire Kuru Army, tens and millions of people, their only service, that they were blocking Arjuna. Dronacharya, such great souls were there and Krishna, he was just supporting Arjuna as a chariot drive. Those horses were going so fast, so fast, so fast and Arjuna was fighting and fighting and Krishna was empowering him to fight and He was driving. Arjuna was getting all the glory and He was just a driver. And the horses were tired, Krishna was brushing the horses, giving them water, while Arjuna was doing the heroic work of fighting. What Krishna did, for Arjuna. Krishna was the menial servant of Arjuna, why? Because of Arjuna’s love. He spoke Bhagvad Gita. He gave all the credit of the greatest war in history to Arjuna. Because of Arjuna's love.
In the Padmapurana, there is a beautiful story about Arjuna asking Krishna, I want to understand the love of Vrindavan, I want to understand the love of your Gopis, I want to understand the mercy of Radharani. So Krishna told Arjuna that this is an impossible subject to discuss. It’s too confidential for you to understand.
Just imagine His best friend, he cannot understand these things, who are we?
Krishna told Arjuna, you cannot understand, what is Gopis love, what is Radha’s love, what is Vrindavan’s love? You can only understand, if you experience it. Then, he told him to go to Mother Parvati, and appeal to her and through her He [Krishna] will give the means. So Arjuna expressed Krishna’s instruction to Parvati and she gave him mantra and told him how to do various types of tapasya. And ultimately she took him to a lake and he bathed in that lake for purification and he was met by a Gopi and that Gopi took him to a lake in Vrindavan. And he bathed in that lake of nectar and when he came out, he was not Arjuna, he was ‘Arjunia’. He had a female body of a Gopi. And he completely forgot his previous identity. There was no trace of recollection.
So this Gopi took her into the assembly of other Gopis and they were very curious to see this new Gopi. They said please tell us who are you, where are you coming from, why have you come. And Arjunia said, I don’t know who I am, and I don’t know where I am coming from and I don’t know why I am here. The only thing I remember in my whole life is that I am coming out of a lake and I am a Gopi. So they taught her how to chant various mantras. And then brought her into a Kunja, where she was brought before goddess Srimati Radharani.
And Arjunia, seeing the beauty, the mercy, the love of Sri Radharani, surrendered at Her feet, fell at Her feet in complete surrender and Sri Radharani presented her to Krishna. And Krishna sported with Arjunia in the forest. And then Sri Radharani said to him to go to the lake and take your bath again. He took his bath and became Arjuna. But that he did not forget.
So, even Arjuna is longing to experience the love of Vrindavan. And what is the love of Vrindavan?, the abode of Vrindavaneshwari, Sri Radharani, who is the Supreme goddess of Vrindavan.

Padayatra India (Sept 1984 to March 1996)
This section will be expanded in 2017, after uploading on this website of The Padayatra Storybook, which covers all padayatras worldwide from 1977 to 2014.
(For info – move your mouse over the image.)
A TWELVE-YEAR JOURNEY (Sept 2, 1984, to March 1996)
On September 2, 1984, devotees launched Padayatra at Dwaraka Dhama, India’s westernmost point. Since then it has been travelling all over the country, covering about 48,000 kilometers while distributing books and pamphlets in 10 languages. The Padayatra has successfully introduced or revived the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra in thousands of villages throughout 19 of India’s 25 states.
It was His Holiness Jayapataka Swami who proposed the idea of doing Padayatra as a way of celebrating the 500th anniversary of the appearance Of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The ISKCON Governing Body voted for the proposal and promised its support. Tattva Darshan Prabhu, a Western disciple of Srila Prabhupada, especially took it to heart and began preparing for a fabulous march. Together with Sattvik, Havirdhana and Varnasrama Prabhus, he planned to retrace Sri Chaitanya’s footsteps and hold daily Krishna conscious festivals.
When everything was ready, His Holiness Lokanath Swami was selected to serve as the leader. After many months of preparation, the Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Sankirtana Padayatra was on its way.
The walk was scheduled to start in Dwaraka and end in Mayapur on the Lord’s birth anniversary-Gaura Purnima 1986-a route of 7,000 kilometres, to be covered in nineteen months. The padayatra successfully walked the full distance, completing a trip that many thought impossible. Then, inspired by senior devotees. they decided to go for more. The Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Sankirtana Padayatra turned into Srila Prabhupada’s Sankirtana Padayatra, an ambitious program scheduled to 1ast another ten years and aimed at g1orifying  His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada on the occasion of his Centennial anniversary in 1996
On Radhastami 1984 more than one hundred ISKCON padayatris left Dwaraka. His Holiness Jayapataka Swami wrote: “The Padayatra Is full of new enthusiasm. We’re not sure what to expect. We’ve made our plan, but will we succeed? Some say no, we won’t last. But ve have started on our way, and every hundred kilometres crossed gives us new confidence we’ll make it.” (Padayatra Newsletter, Vol 3, No. 2-3)
The program was planned big: an elephant, bullock carts, camel carts, big pandals, big harinamas and big kirtanas, up to fifty foreign devotees, a big advance party, seven vehicles to accompany the Padayatra, local sankirtana buses joining in, thousands of people attend ing the stage programs every evening, big receptions everywhere, widespread book distribution, Food for Life almost every day. articles in newspapers, meetings with officials, etc. Evening programs were set out in fields to allow enough space for the thousands who attended daily.
The main attraction was the stage, where several sannyasis or senior devotees would speak. The books were financed by foreign BBTs and funds would come from Indian ISKCON centres and individuals who made monthly pledges. On some stretches, like from Madras to Tirupati, there were two hundred padayatras. At that time devotees felt obligated to come and render some service to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Padayatra.
In the beginning, it was quite disorganized-who could manage it all? However, the presence of His Holiness Lokanath Swami and His Holiness Jayadvaita Swami kept it together. As Padayatra reached the halfway mark to Mayapur, the faith that the party would make it was established. The dream was realized when two hundred devotees walked into Mayapur on the 20th of March, 1986.
