Guinea Fowl, Safari West, Sonoma, CA
Safari West is a 400-acre (160 ha) private wildlife preserve located in Sonoma County, California, United States.
The selection of wildlife emphasizes species native to Africa, including giraffes, rhinoceros, cheetahs, and numerous species of birds. The park engages in breeding programs that, through exchanges with other zoos and parks, keep the gene pool healthy for the species that are involved in the program. The park is also home to species that are considered to be extinct in the wild.
The park, one of six accredited private zoos in the United States,[2] combines wild animal care with vacation lodging.[3] The establishment was started in the early 1970s on a cattle ranch in Beverly Hills, California, owned by Otto Lang, a film director who worked on The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Sea Hunt, Flipper, and Daktari.[4] Peter Lang, his son, inspired by his father's interest in animals, began to keep wild animals on the ranch.[2]
After selling the Beverly Hills property, for use as a park, Peter Lang moved the operation to a larger ranch near Calistoga, California, in 1978, and then in 1989 to its present location on a former sheep ranch near Santa Rosa, California. In 1993, he opened it to children's tours, and later added overnight lodging, safari tours, and a restaurant. As of 2013, it had about 900 animals of approximately 79 animal species.[3][4]
Oil Spill 23-04-17
Oil spills can come from a number of sources, including tankers and oil extraction and storage facilities and can pose serious threats to humans, avian (birds), fisheries, and marine ecosystems.
Spilled oil can harm living things because its chemical constituents are poisonous.
This can affect organisms both from internal exposure to oil through ingestion or inhalation and from external exposure through skin and eye irritation. Oil can also smother some small species of fish or invertebrates and coat feathers and fur, reducing birds' and mammals' ability to maintain their body temperatures.
It should be noted that untrained people should not try to capture any oiled bird or animal, you may endanger yourself, the animal or both in the process.Currently, Wildlife Orphanage and Rehabilitation Centre (WORC) is treating the oil slicked birds, and can use all the help they can get. You can donate your time, money (for food and cleaning supplies) or tilapia to feed the birds. If you would like to help, Call 637-3842 or 468-3230, comment or message the page or call our hotline at 341-9983.
While there are many calls for Petrotrin to become transparent about the issue, there are many false articles circulating about the incident or general lack of information, and we decided to investigate for ourselves.
We would like to note that the Guaracara River was unaffected by the spill at the time of our visit yesterday evening. The surrounding shores and even off--shore were surveyed for any contaminants and none were observed. Water samples were also taken for independent testing.
Based on the images that we captured, we saw that a considerable amount of bunker fuel was still spread across the compound. We were a bit alarmed by this, as we saw continued exposure to the environment of the leaked hydrocarbon material. Much of the material seemed to be captured within the company's compound and some in the adjoined inlet.
Preferably, we would have liked to see clean up efforts around the clock, and the incident dealt with in a more timely manner. Understandably, we are unaware of the circumstances experienced by the company and have to insist that the public be updated on the efforts and the time frame which they can expect to see work completed in. Information should also be provided as to what caused the incident, what measures will be taken to avoid it in the future and who is responsible for this incident.
We advise that the public please do keep in mind that these animals are protected species, and interfering with them is prohibited by law.
We would like to appeal to anyone that does sight any oil slicked animals to contact Petrotrin's hotline at 658- 7233. You may feel free to contact us as well at any of our hotlines 341-9983, 482-4319 or 748-7100 and we would be happy to facilitate.

More from Inside Edition:
When Angel, a greyhound mix was rescued from an animal organization in Ireland, she would not turn around and face her new home. PAWs Animal Rescue believes she was traumatized and abused. When Angel arrived at their organization, they say that she just faced the wall in their office and refused to move for days. They would leave her food but Angel would only eat when no one was watching. After bringing in another dog from the same pound, they immediately saw a change in Angel's personality.

SUMMARY
=======
Oklahoma ( (listen)) is a state in the South Central region of the United States, bordered by Kansas on the north, Missouri on the northeast, Arkansas on the east, Texas on the south, New Mexico on the west, and Colorado on the northwest. It is the 20th-most extensive and the 28th-most populous of the fifty United States. The state's name is derived from the Choctaw words okla and humma, meaning red people. It is also known informally by its nickname, The Sooner State, in reference to the non-Native settlers who staked their claims on land before the official opening date of lands in the western Oklahoma Territory or before the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889, which dramatically increased European-American settlement in the eastern Indian Territory. Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory were merged into the State of Oklahoma when it became the 46th state to enter the union on November 16, 1907. Its residents are known as Oklahomans (or colloquially, Okies), and its capital and largest city is Oklahoma City.
A major producer of natural gas, oil, and agricultural products, Oklahoma relies on an economic base of aviation, energy, telecommunications, and biotechnology. Both Oklahoma City and Tulsa serve as Oklahoma's primary economic anchors, with nearly two thirds of Oklahomans living within their metropolitan statistical areas.With ancient mountain ranges, prairie, mesas, and eastern forests, most of Oklahoma lies in the Great Plains, Cross Timbers, and the U.S. Interior Highlands, a region prone mainly to severe weather. More than 25 Native American languages are spoken in Oklahoma, ranking third behind Alaska and California.
Oklahoma is on a confluence of three major American cultural regions and historically served as a route for cattle drives, a destination for Southern settlers, and a government-sanctioned territory for Native Americans.

SUMMARY
=======
The Midwestern United States, also referred to as the American Midwest, Middle West, or simply the Midwest, is one of four census regions of the United States Census Bureau (also known as Region 2). It occupies the northern central part of the United States. It was officially named the North Central Region by the Census Bureau until 1984. It is located between the Northeastern United States and the Western United States, with Canada to its north and the Southern United States to its south.
The Census Bureau's definition consists of 12 states in the north central United States: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The region generally lies on the broad Interior Plain between the states occupying the Appalachian Mountain range and the states occupying the Rocky Mountain range. Major rivers in the region include, from east to west, the Ohio River, the Upper Mississippi River, and the Missouri River. A 2012 report from the United States Census put the population of the Midwest at 65,377,684. The Midwest is divided by the Census Bureau into two divisions. The East North Central Division includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin, all of which are also part of the Great Lakes region. The West North Central Division includes Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, and South Dakota, several of which are located, at least partly, within the Great Plains region.
Chicago is the most populous city in the American Midwest and the third most populous in the entire country. Other large Midwestern cities include (in order by population): Columbus, Indianapolis, Detroit, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Omaha, Minneapolis, Wichita, Cleveland, St. Louis, St. Paul, Cincinnati, Madison, and Des Moines. Chicago and its suburbs form the largest metropolitan statistical area with 9.9 million people, followed by Metro Detroit, Minneapolis–St. Paul, Greater St. Louis, Greater Cleveland, Greater Cincinnati, the Kansas City metro area, and the Columbus metro area.
