Ibrahim Adil Shah II is buried along with his wife queen Taj Sultana in this monument.The building was designed by the Persian architect Malik Sandal with the holy Quranic verses being embedded on the walls.This monument is believed to be an inspiration for shah jahan to make taj mahal in agra.

HISTORY OF Ibrahim Roza
Ibrahim Rauza in Bijapur, Karnataka, taken by an unknown photographer, from an album of 40 prints dating from the 1860s. The Adil Shahi dynasty ruled parts of southern India from the late 15th to the late 17th centuries, with their capital in Bijapur. The dynasty was founded by the Persian governor of Bijapur, Yusuf Adil Shah, who declared his independence from the declining Bahmani kingdom of the Deccan. Rulers of the dynasty such as Ibrahim Adil Shah II (1579-1627) were great patrons of art and architecture. With Mughal rule .

The Ibrahim Rauza was built by Ibrahim Adil Shah II in the 15th century. It consists of mosque and tomb enclosed together in the square compound. Mosque and Tomb are separated from each other by tank and fountain. The mosque has finely crafted arches in its rectangular prayer hall and it’s shaded by chhaja and slender minarets at each corner. The bulbous dome with beautiful rows of petals at its base is enclosed in a square structure giving a majestic look to the mosque. Each corner of the mosque is captivating and takes you back to the time when every moment of the era was immersed in luxury and royalty. There are various secret and closed passages inside the mosque which are said to have treasures within. The mosque also has dark tunnels leading to the various areas of Ibrahim Rauza. This mosque was built by a Persian architect. The Persian architect last wish was to die beside his master, King Ibrahim Adil Shah II and hence, the area also houses this great architect’s tomb.
It is believed that King Ibrahim Adil Shah II wanted to bring together Hindu and Muslim by building this mosque. He was the king with vision and had a Hindu Temple built in the premises of his palace. It is also said that Shah Jahan while searching for the plan to build a mosque for his beloved Mumtaz Mahal, found Ibrahim Rauza and was fascinated by the beauty of the structure. He was highly inspired looking at this mosque which later led him to build the magnificent Taj Mahal.
So capture the splendor of Ibrahim Rauza and take a glimpse into the history which was filled with mesmerizing architecture and sculpture.

It is one among the supreme achievements of the Adil Shahi’s which is remarkably considered and finely decorated. It was completed in the year 1627 by Ibrahim Adilshah –II, it is a square structure with twin buildings and delicate carvings.
The Tomb complex on the left and on the right side with a mosque set in a walled garden facing over an attractive pond. The tomb is in a chamber of 13 meters and has the ceiling divided into nine squares with curved sides. It is one of the splendid mosque and tomb of Bijapur, it is known for its graceful arches, halls, intricate designs with a dome.

Ibrahim Roza is in Bijapur and was built by Ibrahim Adil Shah II in the early 1600s. Ibrahim Adil Shah has similarities with the Mughals in 2 interesting areas. He had the religious tolerance of Akbar and the passion to build a tomb with minarets for his wife like Shah Jahan!

The dome is rising from a lotus petal base, it is said to be a creativeness of the Taj Mahal at Agra with 24 meters. The big fountain and reservoir divide the mosque from the tomb, it is counted one among the beautiful instances of Islamic architecture. This consists of the interconnected buildings, with the faultless domes topped with the crescent moons and surrounded on the four corners with the symmetrical minarets that manages the structural simplicity with intricate stonework with point arches that leads to cool high ceiling chambers and walls richly decorated with sculptures and hangings.
The construction was between the 15th to 17th century of the Ibrahim Roza and the mosque built in the walled garden facing the ornamental pond. This was located at about 2 km from Bijapur on the western outskirts of the city. It has significant sculptural decorative work with intricate design works.
