The Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, also known as the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saud Mosque or the Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is a mosque located at Europa Point in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, a peninsula connected to southern Spain. The mosque faces south towards the Strait of Gibraltar and the African country of Morocco just a few kilometres away.
It is the southernmost mosque in continental Europe, and is one of the largest mosques in a non-Muslim country.
The building was a gift from King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and took two years to build at a cost of around £5 million. It was officially inaugurated on 8 August 1997.
The mosque complex also contains a school, library, and lecture hall. It is the only purpose-built mosque in Gibraltar to serve the Muslims in the territory who number over 1,000: around 4% of Gibraltar's total population.

Public breaking of the Ramadan fast - for all Gibraltarians
Last night the local Muslim community opened its mosque doors to the public, inviting the whole of Gibraltar to partake in a custom known as ‘Iftar’.
It’s a tradition that forms part of the holy month of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar, and it’s the breaking of fast at sunset.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar and fasting during this month is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
Women and men are separated and the long, hard, day of fasting is broken with milk, prunes, eggs and Moroccan sweets. This small meal gets the digestive system up and running again after hours of not eating.
Then comes prayer; in the month of Ramadan the whole Koran is recited at the mosque.
In mosques around the world Iftar is open to everyone - Muslims and non-Muslims alike - but for Gibraltar, the event was a first and saw a great turn out.
Inspired by the successful event, the Muslim Youth Group plan on organising more of its kind in the future.

Europa Point in Gibraltar
Europa Point is the most southern point in Gibraltar and the Iberian Peninsula. On a clear day one can see Africa over strait (we did not have this luck). Here you can see: Harding's Battery, the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, the Roman Catholic Shrine of Our Lady of Europe, the Europa Point Lighthouse, Nun's Well and a new Gibraltar faculty building.
At the beginning of the video you can see the bus travel to Europa Point.

EUROPA POINT // Visiting the southernmost point of Gibraltar
In this video I'm visiting Europa Point which is the southernmost point of the Gibraltar peninsula. Europa point is famous for the Europa Point Lighthouse and the Ibrahim al Ibrahim Mosque and offers great views of the Strait of Gibraltar and the North African coast.
On my way to Europa Point I came along the beautiful waterfall of Gibraltar. Even though it is man made the waterfall is still an impressive sight to see. All footage filmed with GoPro Hero 7 Black. Enjoy the video!

Europa Point,Gibraltar:
Europa Point is the southernmost point of Gibraltar (the Southeast most point of the Iberian Peninsula being Punta de Tarifa 25 km southwest of Gibraltar). At the end of the Rock of Gibraltar, the area is flat and occupied by such features as a playing field and a few buildings. On a clear day, views of North Africa can be seen across the Strait of Gibraltar including Ceuta and the Rif Mountains of Morocco; as well as the Bay of Gibraltar and the Spanish towns along its shores. It is accessed from the old town by Europa Road.
There are five notable buildings, Harding's Battery, the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, the Roman Catholic Shrine of Our Lady of Europe, the Europa Point Lighthouse and the Nun's Well. Europa Point is also the location of Gibraltar's only dedicated cricket oval where the Gibraltar national cricket team play and since 2013 Europa Point has been the location of the Sikorski Memorial.
The Europa Point Lighthouse was built by Governor Sir Alexander Woodford between 1838 and 1841. It was fully automated in February 1994 and its loom can be seen over a distance of 27 km (17 mi). It is the southernmost lighthouse for which Trinity House is responsible, and the only one outside the UK.Gibraltarians refer to it as la farola when conversing in Llanito. The Gibraltar Amateur Radio operators transmit from the area of the lighthouse.
The mosque, also known as the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saud Mosque or the Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is a mosque located at Europa Point. The building was a gift from King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and took two years to build at a cost of around £5 million. It was officially inaugurated on 8 August 1997. The mosque complex also contains a school, library, and lecture hall. It is the only purpose-built mosque in Gibraltar to serve the Muslims in the territory who number over 1,000.
