Vino Nobile di Montepulciano - A Timeless Wine
Wine Review: Gattavecchi, Rosso Di Montepulciano, Italy
Good Italian Red. So I figured out it was not a berry, but chocolate covered berry I was trying to figure out. After tasting more, it taste just like a chocolate covered cherry, but at first it seemed like something different.

The main * mission * of the Consortium is to protect, enhance and inextricably link a wine to its territory of origin. A Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin (DOCG) is born to safeguard companies, producers and consumers as well as to promote the entire provincial territory.
The Consortium daily values the origin (controlled and guaranteed) of this unique wine, telling the harvest of the extraordinary territory of Teramo, anciently suited to viticulture and historically dedicated to the vinification of its grapes.

La Braccesca estate - Montepulciano
Just a miles away from the city of Montepulciano, near the border between Tuscany and neighboring Umbria, the La Braccesca estate is surrounded by a splendid territory, first Etruscan and Roman, then medieval and Renaissance.
The property extends over 508 hectares (1255 acres) where, once upon a time, the holdings of the Bracci counts– who gave their name to the estate - were located: the counts, whose name means “arm” in Italian, also gave their coat of arms to the property, an armored arm which holds a sword.
The land owned by La Braccesca is situated in two very close, but entirely different, zones: Montepulciano, the classic and prestigious area of “Vino Nobile”, and Cortona, which has made a name for itself in world markets principally with international grape varieties, above all Syrah. These two different “souls”, the essential spirit of different terroirs, represent the La Braccesca style with its respect for tradition and, at the same time, tireless research, its balance between the old and the new, its professional mastery in its work and its passion for quality. The wines of the La Braccesca estate are the results of this happy synthesis.

MONTEPULCIANO ( VINO NOBILE-SIENA )
Among the softly rolling hills of the Vino Nobile region of Tuscany lie 184 tillable hectares (442 acres) of land dedicated to vineyards and olive trees at an elevation of 250 meters (800 feet) above sea level. On this estate there are 84.5 hectares (207 acres) of dry-farmed vineyards. These are planted with new clones of Sangiovese and international grape varietals dedicated to our age worthy wines as well as the Appodiati single vineyard programs.
These state of the art vineyards are planted to modern trellising methods with clones and rootstocks varying according to soil type. Planting densities here often exceed 8,500 plants per hectare (3,300 per acre) yielding wines of great concentration and finesse.
There are also 12 hectares (29 acres) of olive groves planted to the classic Tuscan varieties of Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino and Pendolino that are used to produce the estate extra virgin olive oil.
On the estate there is also an old farmhouse complex, complete with vinification and aging cellars that date back to the 1700’s, in which the Vino Nobile wines are produced. Cellar capacity is approximately 3,700 hl (42,000 gallons) of wood cooperage, mostly oval Slavonian oak casks and small barrels, in addition to 14,500 hl (382,000 gallons) of temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
A new state-of-the-art winery with a ventilated wooden roof and an integrated 150kW solar panel system has been inaugurated just in time for the 2010 harvest.
