LOVE ADVENTURE TRAVEL! Scotland - Indoor Ice climbing - Fort William
A short action video from my very first attempt at ice climbing during a Scottish winter meet with London Mountaineering Club in February 2017 - the Ice Factor climbing centre, Fort Wiliam, Scotland.
Last winter I had a pleasure to joint the London Mountaineering Club for a mountaineering/climbing meet in Scotland. Since 'Doris', the storm was giving us a taste of some 'fine' Scottish weather for the first days of our stay in Glen Coe, we decided to take advantage of the indoor ice climbing centre in near by Fort Wiliam. It was a first attempt at the ice climbing for most of us - much excitement. And indeed it turn out to be a great fun. I was particularly happy with the fact that I managed not to injure myself - three other members of the LMC gave the ice climbing a good go a day before us and unfortunately one of them was unlucky enough to leave his front teeth in the ice, after hitting himself with an ice axe... ah so painful! Just mentioned to warn whoever is planning to try this too. I do recommend the experience 100%. It is definitely much different from the rock or indoor climbing. I hope you enjoy the short video.

Glen Coe Skyline race 2019 (Aonach Eagach ridge section) #SkylineScotland
Absolutely incredible day on the Aonach Eagach ridge filming the Glen Coe Skyline runners come across. This is the second scramble in this gruelling 52k race with 4.750m ascent, the first being Curved Ridge (scroll down for a recce film link). The Glencoe Skyline is the grand finale in the Skyline Scotland event at Kinlochleven in the Highlands.
Amazing to see Georgia Tindley, 1st lady, come across the ridge in 5th position! She endied up 8th overall, fantastic! Massive kudos to anyone who did this race, or even attempted it. It was great to see so many of you on the ridge. It's more scrambling and hiking than running unless you are Kilian Jornet and the like!
My Skyline Scotland coverage is made possible with the sponsorship of Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports, thank you so much guys! They have 24 stores nationwide and their well trained, super active, outdoorsy staff know their stuff when it comes to advising on trail and ultra running kit.
I tried to do a live broadcast of the top 10 runners during the race but it was during the one hour of rain that we had! The signal wasn't great and it was very difficult to hold the camera still in the wind and cold, but it's very interesting what it was really like up there in real time watching the race:
The Ring of Steall Skyrace was the day before, this was the final of the Golden Trails World Series. Here are my live broadcasts of the start and finish:

Glen Coe Skyline race 2019 live from Aonach Eagach Ridge (sponsored by Ellis Brigham)
Glen Coe Skyline race from Aonach Eagach Ridge, quite difficult conditions for filming in, with not much signal! But managed to get the top 10 or so including first lady Georgia Tindley who was 5th overall at that point!
Ironically, the rest of the day was BEAUTIFULLY SUNNY but there was not enough signal for another live along the ridge! I am making a film of it so stay tuned for the edit coming soon!
Glen Coe Skyline is part of the Skyline Scotland race weekend at the Ice Factor in Kinlochleven. Check out my Skyline Scotland playlist here for more live broadcasts from the Ring of Steall Skyrace and interviews with past year’s elite athletes

Caitlin Connor Ice Climbing at Snow Factor Braehead
It was great to see Caitlin Connor in for a final training session before heads of to Switzerland to climb 3 of Europe's most iconic mountains; Mont Blanc (4810m), Grandes Jorasses (4208m) and the triangular ‘Toblerone’ shaped peak of the Matterhorn (4478m / 14,692ft).
Caitlin is just 15 and this challenge will make her Scotlands (possibly even Britain's!) youngest climber to tackle these 3 peaks.
