Besides the snow and the mountain, the tunnel is something to look out for at Jungfraujoch in Switzerland. The Top of Europe as it is called, is a great example of human endurance and hard work. Hundreds of labourers and engineers made this possible more than hundred years ago. Today, millions of tourists like us visit this place every year.

Ice Palace, Jungfraujoch in Switzerland
A large complex of tunnels and buildings has been constructed at the Jungfraujoch, mostly into the south side of the Mönch. There is a hotel, two restaurants, an observatory, a research station, a small cinema, a ski school, and the Ice Palace, a collection of elaborate ice sculptures. Another tunnel leads outside to a flat, snow-covered area, where one can walk around and look down to the Konkordiaplatz and the Aletsch Glacier, as well as the surrounding mountains.

The Ice Palace at Jungfraujoch 3466 m, Switzerland
The more transient something is, the more beautiful. This is especially true of the Ice Palace and its treasures. Mountain guides created the aisles and halls in the 1930s with picks and saws in the middle of the Jungfraufirn. Today, artists create the ice – with a great deal of flair. On a mirror-smooth tour through a frosty world, visitors will discover their works of art in nooks and crannies. An eagle, penguin or bear, as though they had just turned to ice, appear quite natural. Even at minus three Celsius, they are melting.

I flew down to Zürich and took a train to get into the mountains with Grindelwald being my first stop. The location of Grindelwald is very unique providing one of the most stunning panoramas in Switzerland as it faces the mountains of Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch. The ski area of Grindelwald-First offers some of the best views - especially from the breathtaking First Cliff Walk…but it is also a good spot to try the hearty Swiss cuisine before hitting the slopes again and finish it all off with some proper after ski drinks at the mountain huts or the Bus Stop bar.
From Grindelwald we took the Jungfraubahn train to the Jungfraujoch aka the „Top of Europe“ on 2571m where the highest railway station is located. The Jungfraujoch offers an outstanding view to the Aletsch glacier and the surrounding Alps from the viewing platform at the Sphinx observatory. But you can even go inside the glacier if you visit the ice palace underneath the building!
I finished this trip with a skiing day in the ski area of Hasliberg-Meiringen just a 2h picturesque train ride from Grindelwald.
As always feel free to leave more recommendations in the comment section below for future visitors of the Jungfrau Region as I only focussed on the highlights in this part of Switzerland.

Jungfraujoch - Ice Palace
Scrat from Ice Age is here!
The Ice Palace of the Jungfraujoch.
In the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland lie three large peaks, the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau (Ogre, Monk and Virgin). On the shoulder between the Jungfrau and the Monch is the Jungfraujoch. Accessed by railway via the heart of the Eiger it is home to the Sphinx observatory and research station. At 3454m it also offers good views of the upper mountain environment as well as the surrounding area. Cut deep inside the ice of the shoulder is a large palace, home to the Jungfrau.....?

A tour Inside the Ice palace at the Jungfraujoch- The Top of Europe, Switzerland.
Top of Europe, Jungfraujoch, Switzerland (May 20th, 2016)
Jungfraujoch, also called 'The Top of Europe', is the saddle between Mönch and Jungfrau two 4000+ meter mountains in the Swiss Bernese Alps. The sphinx observatory platform is one of the highest observatories and weather research station. I took the famous cogwheel train from Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch Railway Station, the highest railway station in Europe. Along the way, we switched trains in Kleine Scheidegg and had two stops, one in Eigerwand and one in Eismeer. Although they are raiwlay stations, they are really more stops along the way for a lookout since they are in the middle (literally inside) of the mountain tunnels. The summit is self explanatory and had a nice exhibit as well as the ice tunnel and few stores. Afterwards, the train back down to Lauterbrunnen was taken.

Interlaken to Jungfraujoch Tour | The Alpine Sensation and Ice Palace in Jungfrau | Tyrolienine fun
Vlog by Minahil Naeem Qazi
We went to #Switzerland in the month of July.
It was a memorable trip. As you know , It is known as the Heaven on the Earth. And no doubt, there is a great beauty.
Here is our trip of #Jungfraujoch. From Interlaken,we took train and in this route , we changed train 2 times. Once from Lauterbrunnen station and second from Klein Scheidegg Station.
Interlaken means a place located between the lakes.
Jungfraujoch is the #Top_of_Europe which is 3454m (11333ft) above sea level.
There was below zero temperature in July.
There are many tourist attractions in Jungfrau e.g Alpine Sensation, Ice Palace, Plateau.
There are also some snow sports for tourists. For example,
Ski & board
Tyrolienine
Snow tubing
Sledge park
We did Tyrolienine, it was a great fun but you must have to wear perfect clothes for this freezing temperature.
Because after Tyrolienine, we felt so much cold.
The Swiss Alps in Jungfrau is so captivating and beautiful.
Hope you will like our vlog.

Jungfraujoch and Aletsch glacier - Best video in 4 K
Jungfraujoch is a notable saddle in the Bernese Alps, connecting the two four-thousander peaks Jungfrau and Mönch, at an elevation of 3,466 metres (11,371 ft) above sea level. It is a glacier saddle, on the upper snows of the Aletsch Glacier, and part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch area, situated on the boundary between the cantons of Bern and Valais, halfway between Interlaken and Fiesch.
Since 1912, the Jungfraujoch has been accessible to tourists by the Jungfrau line, a railway from Interlaken and Kleine Scheidegg, running partly underground through a tunnel through the Eiger and Mönch. The Jungfraujoch railway station, at an elevation of 3,454 metres (11,332 ft) is the highest in Europe. It lies east of the saddle, below the Sphinx station, and is connected to the Top of Europe building, which includes several panoramic restaurants and a post office. Several tunnels lead outside, where secured hiking trails on the crevassed glacier can be followed, in particular to the Mönchsjoch Hut.
The Sphinx Observatory, one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world, provides an additional viewing platform at a height of 3,572 metres (11,719 ft). It can be reached by an elevator from the Jungfraujoch. The observatory houses one of the Global Atmosphere Watch's atmospheric research stations. The Jungfraujoch radio relay station, which is not accessible to the public, is installed west of the Jungfraujoch, on the Jungfrau ridge. It is Europe's highest radio relay station.
