Saturday morning I was invited out with Iceberg Quest Ocean Tours to see the first (or close to it) #Canada150 sunrise in the nation at Cape Spear! Even though we didn't actually see the sun, it was a great trip and much fun was had by all! Here are some sights and sounds from the trip!

Iceberg Quest - Whale Watching in Newfoundland

The humpback whale is the most common species of whale found in Newfoundland and Labrador waters, and is the most likely to be seen on an Iceberg Quest boat tour. While they rank as a mid-sized baleen whale, they are still one of the biggest creatures on earth, growing to up to 50 feet long and weighing 30 tonnes! To get to this size they eat, ironically enough, some of the smallest creatures in the ocean. They do this with their bristle-like baleens that are able to trap even the smallest crustaceans.

Icebergquest in Twillingate

Lots of icebergs in Twillingate, the ice berg alley in Newfoundland where icebergs broke off from Greenland took almost 2 years or more to get down to Newfoundland Canada. Amazing close encounter with these guys on a local tour boat under the fantastic crews of Iceberg Quest Ocean Tours in Twillingate. We had a fantastic field day with icebergs on a warm sunny day wearing only t-shirts !!! The first part of the video showed an iceberg growler that pops up and down with the ocean current. The tour boat passed along many smaller bergs and bigger bergs throughout the tour. Just amazing seeing these guys close up and personal. Highly recommended to tag along with the tour to experience the iceberg quest !! in Twillingate
