Iga Idunganran: Palace of Oba (King) of Lagos
The ancient palace was initially built around 1630 and the modern part was completed and commissioned in 1960. The Portuguese added to the ancient building around 1670. Most of the materials used were brought in from Portugal. Recently modernized by the late Oba Adeniji Adele II and Oba Adeyinka Oyekan II, it underwent additional modernization in 2007/8 by the present Oba Akiolu in conjunction with the Lagos State government and the Nigerian Museum.

His Highness, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu I is the current Oba of Lagos who was coronated in 2003. In April 2015, Oba Rilwan Akiolu (also known as Eleko of Eko) publicly threatened genocide against the 6 million Igbo population living in Lagos if they do not vote for his preferred candidate in the governorship election, Akinwunmi Ambode. According to the king, Lagos belongs to him and the Igbos have to do his bidding or they perish inside the Lagoon. Rilwan Akiolu was born and reared in Isale-Eko, Lagos. Before his ascension to the throne, Akiolu was a senior police officer who in his spare time practised Law in Lagos. He was coronated on July 9, 2003. The Oba is residing in the official residence of the king, since 1630, Iga Idungaran palace. Oba Akiolu's first anniversary on-the-throne gift to his immediate constituency, Isale-Eko, is the establishment of the Lagos Royal House Continuing Education Centre at Ita-Ono, a stone-throw from his palace. The centre, which is funded personally by the monarch, is running remedial courses for students in the neighbourhood. In further pursuit of higher education for students of Isale-Eko extraction, he has also pledged an annual donation to the coffers of an association which operates a scholarship scheme for indigent Isale-Eko students. The body is headed by a retired judge, Justice Ishola Oluwa.

Lagos Island Market Leaders rejects Alhaja Risikat Abeje Lasis's candidature as IyaLoja-General of Lagos Island
Lagos Island Market Leaders Resolution of 2nd March 2016 held at No. 10, Sunday Adigun Street, Alausa Ikeja, Chaired by Her Royal Majesty Queen of Commerce, President-General of Market Women and Men in Nigeria, and Iya Oja of Lagos State, around 12noon. At the meeting, out of the 83 Market Leaders we have in Lagos Island, 56 voted in favour of Hajia Basirat Mojisola Dange, 7 voted Alhaja Risikat Abeje Lasisi and 20 were absent.
In light of above, it was resolved that Alhaja Risikat Abeje Lasisi cannot lead a rat and SHE IS NOT THE RIGHT MATERIAL FOR THE PLUM JOB OF IYALOJA-GENERAL OF LAGOS ISLAND.
There are three (3) other Senior IyaLoja(s) in contention, namely;
1. Hajia Basirat Mojisola Dange, Iya Oja of Iga Idungaran Street since July 2008, and Majeobaje-General of Lagos Island Market since October 2010.
2. Alhaja Lutifat Ojikutu, IyaLoja Igbeyin Adun Balogun Market since 2004, Balogun-General for Lagos Island Market since year 2011.
And,
3. Alhaja Kuburat Osho, Oke Aarin Provisions since year 2004.
It is pertinent to state that Alhaja Risikat Abeje Lasisi came in 28th July 2011 as Iya Oja of Dosumu Market.
So therefore, installation of Alhaja Risikat Abeje Lasisi as IyaLoja-General of Lagos Island is not realistic as other Senior Market Leaders threaten fire and SAY NO TO IMPOSITION as the their constitution says Leaders should be appointed among themselves and not imposition or through out influence...
