Nagano is known for its wonderful mountains and powder snow. It is the home for various ski resorts like those in Hakuba or in Shiga Kogen.

Shiga Kogen Olympic Ski Resort - Nagano, Japan
Shiga Kogen - Japan's Largest Ski Resort with 21 ski areas. Nagano Winter Olympics was held here.
We travelled Free & Easy. Took a 60 mins bus ride from Yudanaka train station. Dropped off at Ichinose (Ichi no-say) Diamond Ski Area. Equipmental rental shop Snow Can has everything that we needed. This includes the hiring of our Lovely Ski Instructor.
It was pre-season, so we almost had the whole ski area to ourselves. The temperature was -10 degrees and most of our iPhones shutdown and refused to take pictures. Fortunately the GoPro worked though the batteries only lasted about 50% of the usual power.

Finally, another vlog has been uploaded! Last January, I went skiing with my Japanese friend for the first time in Iizuna, Nagano (just a few minutes from my place). I haven’t done this sport yet as I am from the Philippines and we don’t have winter season. My first ski experience was very fun although quite strenuous! I rode the ski lift and from the top, fell down maaaaannnyyyy times. But the experience was all worth it! I decided to go skiing again a few days after this so watch out for the next video! Teaser: My skiing was a lot better the second time!

Skiing in Shiga Kogen, Nagano Japan
Skiing in Japan - a popular destination in Asia region during Winter Ski Season.
Both affordable and beautiful - Shiga Kogen, Nagano is the ideal spot for all skiers and snowboarders who wants to experience Japan at an affordable and yet not compromise on scenic. With beginner slopes all the way till advance double black diamond, it attracts skiiers and snowboarders all over the world coming to this gorgeous winter wonderland.
Less touristy and commercialized than the likes of Niseko at Hokkaido, this location require a bit more effort to get around. Tip: knowing a bit of Japanese language helps.
Need a day off and rest between your skiing? Soak your tired aching bodies in some natural hot springs/ onsens, or see the monkeys do it. In the nearing areas is the world renoun Snow Monkeys Hot Spring hideout. Be amuse by their sheer bliss as they soak and preen themselves in the warm spring waters.
