SPECTACULAR ILULISSAT GLACIER HIKE,GREENLAND - A VICARIOUS VISIT
Its in Greenland.
It's huge!
The Icefjord itself is 6km wide and 55km long, growing every year, since the main glaciers are receding: that’s how all this ice gets there in the first place!
It's fast moving!
The Icefjord itself calves form the Sermaq Kujallaq glacier, on of the fastest moving glaciers in the world, with a daily movement of 40m, 14,600 meters per year.
One of the greatest things about the Icefjord is how small is makes you feel.

Ilulissat Icefjord (UNESCO/NHK)
Located on the west coast of Greenland, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, Greenland's Ilulissat Icefjord (40,240 ha) is the sea mouth of Sermeq Kujalleq, one of the few glaciers through which the Greenland ice cap reaches the sea. Sermeq Kujalleq is one of the fastest (19 m per day) and most active glaciers in the world. It annually calves over 35 km3 of ice, i.e. 10% of the production of all Greenland calf ice and more than any other ...

Spencer Museum + Greenland National Museum collaboration
Two graduate students from the University of Greenland, accompanied by Curator and Archaeologist Hans Harmsen of the Greenland National Museum & Archives, visited the Spencer Museum in April 2019 to research the Museum's collection of objects from Greenland collected in 1895 by Lewis Lindsay Dyche. The students photographed a group of objects made by Greenland Inuit people to create a series of three-dimensional images for these objects that will be available online. This research is part of a project that began in 2016 to digitally reunite Greenlandic objects held in museums around the world. Other than the Smithsonian, the Spencer Museum is the only North American institution the project has collaborated with.

Artist Exhibits Melting Icebergs From Greenland At London Museum To Address Climate Change
Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson has brought 30 icebergs to London as part of his Ice Watch exhibition at the Tate Modern. The icebergs were retrieved from the Nuup Kangerlua fjord near Nuuk, Greenland, via refrigerated containers. Removing the ice didn't impact the overall quantity of ice in Greenland, where 10,000 similar blocks are shed every second, says MNN. The icebergs have been on display since December 11 and will remain in place until they've melted. The exhibit is intended to be an urgent plea to stop ignoring the effects of climate change. One geologist from Greenland said, The foundation of human civilization withers away while Greenland melts.
