Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Christchurch (; Māori: Ōtautahi) is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Canterbury Region. The Christchurch urban area lies on the South Island's east coast, just north of Banks Peninsula. It is home to 404,500 residents, making it New Zealand's third-most populous city behind Auckland and Wellington. The Avon River flows through the centre of the city, with an urban park located along its banks.
Archaeological evidence has indicated that people first settled in the Christchurch area in about 1250. Christchurch became a city by Royal Charter on 31 July 1856, making it officially the oldest established city in New Zealand. The Canterbury Association, which settled the Canterbury Plains, named the city after Christ Church, Oxford. The new settlement was laid out in a grid pattern centred on Cathedral Square; during the 19th century there were few barriers to the rapid growth of the urban area, except for the Pacific to the east and the Port Hills to the south.
Agriculture is the historic mainstay of Christchurch's economy. The early presence of the University of Canterbury and the heritage of the city's academic institutions in association with local businesses has fostered a number of technology-based industries. Christchurch is one of five 'gateway cities' for Antarctic exploration, hosting Antarctic support bases for several nations. The city suffered a series of earthquakes between September 2010 and January 2012, with the most destructive of them occurring at 12.51 p.m. on Tuesday, 22 February 2011, in which 185 people were killed and thousands of buildings across the city collapsed or suffered severe damage. By late 2013, 1,500 buildings in the city had been demolished, leading to an ongoing recovery and rebuilding project.
International Lego Day - VLOG #40
It's Saturday, January 28th today and that means it is International LEGO Day.
A day that celebrates the patent for the original LEGOs brick system was filed on January 28, 1958.
Interesting because The Lego Group began manufacturing the interlocking toy bricks in 1949.
In May 2011, Space Shuttle Endeavour mission STS-134 brought 13 Lego kits to the International Space Station.
In February 2015, Brand Finance reported that Lego replaced Ferrari as the world's most powerful brand.
Today Lego is more than just bricks it involves theme parks, films, television, video games, board games,
books and magazines and children's clothing.
International Lego Day here in Christchurch is held at the Imagination Station which is a charity, not for profit,
play and education centre where Lego plays an important role and as you can see they have huge piles of it.
It is run based donations and the generous support of the Christchurch City Council, the Rata Foundation and the
Lion Foundation.

World's Ugliest Statues
With a name like Breast Bunch you don’t have to wonder and try to dissect the abstract meaning the artist is trying to get across. Breasts are beautiful and this piece does a great way at showcasing how they come in different sizes, colors, and shapes. Wait till you see the rest of the sculptures, but you could think this is the “breast” on yet.

10.“Moon RIse, East January “, Sculpture Park Des Moines, Iowa
A Swiss artist by the name Ugo Rondinone created these creepy guys. One grinning ear to ear (if he had ears) and the other peaking over with a worried look on its face. Maybe he’s worried about what the closer one will do. Let’s keep our distance, nobody needs to go to Iowa anyways. They have strange sculptures that look like Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
9.New Lynn Transformation, Auckland, New Zealand
So this piece is supposed to be a cloud, a Transit Cloud, erected above the train station in Auckland. It’s not surprising that the locals don’t like this sculpture and think it’s inappropriate to have such a phallic looking image in a public place. But the artist Gregor Kregar stands by his artwork saying “Art is out there to stir reaction.” So let’s just use our imagination and pretend this isn’t what it obviously is.
8.The Sea Lady, Falkenberg, Sweden
Oh please no. There isn’t much information on this terrible statue of a woman from the sea. She looks awkwardly posed and has a receding hairline with bright blue hair sprouting from the back of her head She’s oddly reminiscent of the doll from rugrats Cynthia with the frazzled hair sticking out everywhere. If this is what women from the sea look like, god forbid we see what a man from the sea looks like.
7.The Pigduck, Turku, Finland
A butt so large you’d think you were in the middle of a Nicki Minaj video. Half pig and half duck a statement piece to say the least in the oldest city of Finland. This statue started off floating on the Aurajoki the river that flows through Turku. Now it rests on the nearby roadside of the campus of the University of Turku and is the colleges (and the town's) unofficial mascot.
6.Gymnast III, Des Moines, Iowa
Bet you can’t guess what this sculpture is supposed to represent. The Gymnast III an over 7 foot tall bronze sculpture is of an athlete limbering up by stretching or lifting. The artist William G. Tucker described his work as a “prolonged anatomy lesson”. Well, maybe if you tilt your head and squint, nope still looks like nothing.
5.Quasi, Chirstchurch, New Zealand
Artist Ronnie van Hout created this bizarre sculpture by scanning his own face and hand and combined them to create something new and turned it into a 5 meter sculpture that had to be lifted by a crane to be places on the Christchurch Art Gallery in New Zealand. 2,300 people voted on an online poll on The Press and 50 percent of voters thought the Quasi was “terrible”. Leave your opinion on the statue in the comment section below. Do you think this is terrible, great, or do you have mixed feelings about this?
4.Unknown, Qudenaarede, Belgium
This statue is straight from someone's nightmares. Horses should be majestic and strong, they should give a person the feeling of pride and freedom. But this one seems to have an oversized human face or is wearing a human face as a mask.
3.Okeanos, San Diego, California
Supposedly this piece of ..art suggests water and clouds and even human limbs. The Okeanos was commissioned for $200,000 in 1987 and has been making people uncomfortable ever since. It really does just look like a feces though. It’s located in San Diego, California and honestly couldn’t they have just put a nice dolphin up or something?
2. Vomiting Horse, Curitiba, Brazil
What a lovely fountain statue. They could have installed a number of horse related statues in here, but a horrifying vomiting horse that looks like it’s poking it’s head through from another dimension seemed like their best option. Fun fact: Horses are not able to vomit due to their sphincter muscle. Once foods passes it, it tightens up and it is practically impossible for food to make its way back up the oesophagus. So the statue is bad and misleading.
1.Cheese Mite Memorial, Wurchwitz, Germany
There might be a better way to celebrate the renaissance of Milbenkase production. Which is a type of German specialty cheese that dates back to the middle ages. The cheese often has mites on the cheese rind and are eaten with the cheese. Who want’s a taste? Apparently quite a few people do, using mites to age cheese is nothing new even some cheeses from France use this method.
