IMAX redefines Kenyan cinema experience
IMAX Theaters have redefined how Kenyans enjoy cinema, and now enjoys about 50 per cent market share - four years after launch into the country. CNBC Africa spoke to Aleksey Serkoov, the Chief Executive of IMAX Kenya, about the brand and trends in the cinema industry.

Black panther tickets sold out at the IMAX movie cinema in Nairobi Kenya just when I was about to pay to watch Lupita Nyongo! Damn! So I rushed to Sarit center where I finally got the black panther tickets. Well, what can I say?! Lupita Nyongo did represent! Earlier that day tough I was at the Junction mall on ngong road watching - Watu wote. This is actually a Kenyan movie that has been nominated for an Oscar award. Sadly, I was about the only one watching this one unlike Black panther where movie tickets sold out!

How Black Panther Nairobi premiere happened
Black Panther premiered worldwide last Friday the 16th and the reception so far has been amazing! It has broken records already and is the 5th highest grossing movie of all time.
It made 198 million dollars on it's first opening and we caught up with the Nairobi premiere at Imax CBD and Imax Garden City where fans were excited to watch the movie.
Kenyan movie goers were treated to an advanced screening at Imax Cinema at Nakumatt Mega City in Kisumu on 13th February 2018.
In Nairobi movie goers were treated to the movie at the Century Imax cinema, Garden City and ANGA IMax, Mama Ngina Street.
