A Ride Around West Wiltshire (KMX125, 7.11.12)
A ride across West Wiltshire using off-road/trail routes where appropriate rights of way exist. The route starts in Seend, near Devizes before passing through Keevil, Bulkington, Marston, Great Cheverell and joining the Imber Range Perimeter Path on Salisbury Plain. Byways in Edington, Westbury, Dilton Marsh, Chapmanslade and Warminster are also featured.
The 1988 Kawasaki KMX125 is a trail bike and not as well suited to the route as my other bikes.

UK GOVERNMENT EVICTED ALL IMBER VILLAGERS EASILY
UK GOVERNMENT EVICTED ALL IMBER VILLAGERS EASILY
In 1943 the UK Government evicted ALL the villagers and never allowed them to return to their village home.
Now, Imber is part of the Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA), exclusively controlled by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD).
The very strict Salisbury Plain military land byelaws were written in 1981.
There is a military sentry and gatehouse at either end of the restricted area. ALL roads off the restricted road exhibited red flags with signs making clear that live firing was in progress.
In addition, there were regular signs warning of unexploded debris off the main road.

Notes: Although recorded (in part) as a public footpath with Wiltshire Council, access rights have been elevated to permissive byway status by the landowner (MOD) due to it meeting the definition of a 'made up road' as defined in the SPTA bylaws.
