Elon Musk Neuralink Event Presentation Connecting Brain to Computer
Elon Musk Neuralink Event Connecting Brain to Computer .
Neuralink has made its first-ever original Twitter post, breaking the silence on Elon Musk’s elusive brain-computer linkup startup. The firm, which aims to develop “ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers,” announced Thursday plans to host an event in San Francisco on the evening of July 16. The private event will give guests a chance to “hear from members of our team about what we’ve done so far as well as some of our plans for the future.” Neuralink Elon musk future cure for medical science. Elon musk neuralink presentation explained from United states Event meeting or press meet Elon musk event or Neuralink seminar 2019.
Perhaps most interesting of all, the company is giving members of the public the chance to attend the limited-space event. Candidates are invited to fill out eight questions, including a link to their LinkedIn profile and an explanation of why they should attend. Neuralink also reassures people that those who are unsuccessful can still watch the event through an online livestream. Details about neuralink 2019.
The event’s announcement sparked elation among the account’s 39,000 followers. One follower, called “Derik,” referred to it as “the greatest leap in human evolution.” But what will Neuralink actually do? Elon Musk Wants to Enhance Brains for Superhuman Abilities Subverse.
Musk has regularly spoken about the need to create a brain-computer interface to stop the growth of super-smart A.I. In September 2016, Musk stated that a “human-A.I. symbiote” would help “democratize” A.I. and take power away from an “evil dictator” machine. Basically, to avoid artificial intelligence taking over, humans will have to merge with artificial intelligence:
I think if we can effectively merge with A.I. by improving the neural link between your cortex and your digital extension of yourself, which already, like I said, already exists, just has a bandwidth issue. And then effectively you become an A.I.-human symbiote. And if that then is widespread, with anyone who wants it can have it, then we solve the control problem as well, we don’t have to worry about some evil dictator A.I. because we are the A.I. collectively.
Neuralink was founded that year as a California medical research firm. This week’s Twitter posts were not the first thing to hit Neuralink’s page. It previously retweeted a post from Tim Urban, the author behind WaitButWhy. The explainer website published a very long article in April 2017 based on conversations with Musk detailing what Neuralink is and what it will do.
The post clarified one key area of confusion around Neuralink: It’s not focused on neural lace, not initially at least. It’s looking at a multitude of technologies to link up computers with brains, like electrodes and neural dust electrodes that would fuse to the brain.
In terms of concrete goals, the initial focus will be on medical applications. Urban’s article states that Neuralink aims to launch a product in 2021 “that helps with certain severe brain injuries (stroke, cancer lesion, congenital).” At the start, the firm listed 15 job openings to assist with its goals.
The article is practically the only major source of information about Neuralink’s plans and operations, and it’s unclear if any of these goals have changed. Four months after the post, Musk gave a tiny update confirming that Neuralink was not than raising money.
In March 2018, it emerged that Neuralink CEO Jared Birchall wanted to renovate the company’s San Francisco headquarters to house rodents. Musk has not yet made any mention of animal testing. The company then told the city’s planning department it had abandoned these plans. Further evidence suggested the team had been conducting research at the University of California’s Davis campus since June 2017.
In April 2019, five scientists linked to Neuralink published a research paper describing a sewing machine-like technique for inserting probes into human brains. The scientists used lab rats and a needle to rapidly insert flexible polymer electrodes. The linkup was connected to a circuit board that relayed activity. This had mixed results: While two rats kept the board on their head for months, others fell off fairly fast.
It subsequently emerged in May 2019 that Neuralink had raised $39 million out of a $51 million funding round. While Musk has continually pressed for human-A.I. linkups, like in August 2018 when an A.I. beat human players at the Dota 2 video game, next week maybe the first time that the plan takes a big step toward reality.

ch 9) Slavery Without Submission, Emancipation Without Freedom
chapter 9: A People's History (Of The United States) Howard Zinn.
~
Chapter 9, Slavery Without Submission, Emancipation Without Freedom addresses slave rebellions, the abolition movement, the Civil War, and the effect of these events on African-Americans. Zinn writes that the large-scale violence of the war was used to end slavery instead of the small-scale violence of the rebellions because the latter may have expanded beyond anti-slavery, resulting in a movement against the capitalist system. He writes that the war could limit the freedom granted to African-Americans by allowing the government control over how that freedom was gained.
Stephen Ross, “Hudson Yards”
The renewal of the Hudson Yards district, a project jointly planned, funded, and constructed by the New York City and State governments and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, concerns a section of Manhattan between Penn Station and the Hudson River, bounded by West 42nd and 43rd Streets, 7th and 8th Avenues, West 28th and 30th Streets, and Hudson River Park. Completion of the master plan by architects KPF remains several years in the future, but recent extensions of the No. 7 subway line and the elevated park called the High Line already connect the site to the rest of the city. The centerpiece of the project, a 26–28 acre development project by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, will be the largest in New York City since Rockefeller Center in the 1930s and the largest private real-estate development project in the history of the U.S. The opening of its first building in May 2016 brought this achievement one step closer.Stephen Ross, chairman of Related Companies, will speak about the Hudson Yards development project. Ross holds a BS from University of Michigan’s School of Business Administration, a JD from Wayne State School of Law, and a LLM in taxation law from NYU. He founded Related Companies in 1972 and led the company through several major projects. Among its holdings are Hunter’s Point South, One Central Park, and the Residences at the Mandarin Oriental at the Time Warner Center. Ross is also a part owner of Equinox fitness centers, a major shareholder in SoulCycle, and managing general partner and chairman of the board of the Miami Dolphins. As a director of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, Ross recently worked with a team of NYU law faculty to propose youth athletic programs to address the problem of intolerant behavior in sports. Among numerous other professional affiliations and philanthropic and service roles, Ross is chairman emeritus and director at the Real Estate Board of New York; a director of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts; a trustee of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital; a director of the Guggenheim Museum; and a trustee of the National Building Museum.

Prison Abolition and a Mule with Paul Butler
(06:19 - Main Presentation, 1:00:15 - Q&A)
By virtually any measure, prisons have not worked. They are sites of cruelty, dehumanization, and violence, as well as subordination by race, class, and gender. Prisons traumatize virtually all who come into contact with them. Abolition of prison could be the ultimate reform. Georgetown Law Professor Paul Bulter explores what would replace prisons, how people who cause harm could be dealt with in the absence of incarceration, and why abolition would make everyone safer and our society more just. On the Lord's Errand: The Life of Thomas S. Monson
This biography of President Thomas S. Monson's life highlights some of his great memories and experiences. Included in this video are interviews with President Monson, family members, and friends
In the office of President Thomas S. Monson hangs a painting of the Savior, a portrayal of the Lord Jesus Christ by famed artist Heinrich Hofmann. President Monson has had the painting since he was a bishop in the 1950s. It represents an ideal example—the Master after whom Thomas Monson has modeled his life.
“I love that painting,” President Monson says as he gazes at it yet again. “I feel strength in having it near me. Look at the kindness in those eyes. Look at the warmth of expression. When facing difficult situations, I often look at it and ask myself, ‘What would He do?’ Then I have tried to respond accordingly.”

5. The Rise of the Polis (cont.)
Introduction to Ancient Greek History (CLCV 205)
In this lecture, Professor Donald Kagan tells the story of the emergence of the polis from the Dark Ages. He shows that by the time of the poet Hesiod, there is already a polis in place. He describes the importance of the polis in the Greek world and explains that it was much more than a mere place of habitation; it was a place where there was justice, law, community, and a set of cultural values that held Greeks together. Finally, Professor Kagan argues, following the lead of Victor David Hanson, that the polis came to be chiefly through the emergence of a new man: the hoplite farmer.
