The outdoor night show [Impression Dahongpao] in Wuyi mountains made the trip perfect! It's world first 360 degree rotating audience seats revolves to 360 degree spectacular scenes in Wuyi mountain (I did not move my phone), highlight about Wuyi tea culture, directed by renown Zhang Yimou.

Kota Wuyishan – China, memang tidak bisa dipisahkan dari keberadaan teh Da Hong Pao yang begitu termasyur dan terkenal sangat mahal. Masyarakat Wuyishan pun merasakan sekali kebesaran teh merahnya ini. Salah satu bentuk pujian akan teh ini pun terlihat dalam sebuah pertunjukkan teatrikal yang dikenal dengan nama Impression Da Hong Pao.
Pertunjukan berjudul “Red Robe Tea” atau Teh Jubah Merah (Impression Da Hong Pao) berkisah tentang legenda teh Da Hong Pao yang begitu termasyur dan menjadi kebanggaan masyarakat Wuyi. Menceritakan bagaimana seorang pemuda yang jatuh hati pada seorang putri yang terpaksa berpisah selama ribuan tahun karena tak direstui ayah si putri yaitu sang raja. Setelah perjuangan cintanya pasangan tadi akhirnya bertemu dan melahirkan bibit pohon teh yang membawa kebahagiaan dan kemakmuran bagi masyarakat Wuyi.
Pagelaran teatrikal dalam bahasa Mandarin berdurasi 70 menit ini dipentaskan oleh hampir kurang 200 performer lokal. Sebagai gabungan dari pemetasan teater, orasi, tarian, dan juga atraksi. Bayangkan saja bagaimana rasanya menonton pertunjukan dengan bahasa yang tidak kita pahami namun bertahan menikmati pertunjukan ini. Rasa kekaguman saya pun makin membuncah saat tahu pertunjukkan ini adalah buah karya sutradara mandarin yang begitu kondang Zhang Yimao. Ia terkenal dengan karya filmnya antara lain Hero, The Road Home, atau Not One Less.
Selain atraksi dan penampilannya pagelaran ini pun sangat spesial dan spektakuler karena seluruh penonton duduk di atas sebuah platform raksasa yang dapat bergerak berputar 360° melingkar! Penonton cukup duduk dan menghadap sebuah lokasi yang sengaja dibangun menjadi set babak demi babak cerita. Lalu saat babak cerita berganti, panggung penonton tiba-tiba bergerak berputar menghadap set baru. Begitu terus sehingga cukup membuat penonton terperangah saat tempat kami duduk tiba-tiba bergerak berputar. Terlebih saat memasuki babak cerita pertemuan sang pemuda dengan sang putri, penonton menghadap sebuah set yang mana adalah pemandangan salah satu tebing bukit batu di Pegunungan Wuyi. Dua gunung batu tersebut disorotkan lampu spotlight dan video mapping. Kontan saja saya dan seluruh penonton berteriak kagum. Sungguh sebuah pagelaran yang membuat penonton berdecak sepanjang pertunjukkan. Tidak heran jika pagelaran ini selalu penuh dikunjungi wisatawan tiap malam.
Sebuah referensi bagus sekali bagaimana sebuah daerah memafaatkan legenda lokal yang dikemas menjadi sebuah pertunjukan teatrikal untuk wisatawan, yang juga berkaitan dengan hasil komodoti masyarakat lokal yaitu teh merah Da Hong Pao khas Wuyishan.

Went to go see Impression DaHongPao, directed by Zhang Yimou (張藝謀), who also co-directed the introductory performance for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
DaHongPao (大紅袍) is originally a very expensive oolong tea originated in Wuyishan, but the show uses its name because of its bright colours and extravagant performance. The word 大 (da) means big in Chinese, 紅 (hong) means red, and 袍 (pao) refers to the type of clothing worn by the performers.
This performance is found in Wuyishan, China, in the Sangu province.

Wuyishan, China in the Fujian Province is definitely one of China's most beautiful hidden gems. It's a quick 3 hour high speed train ride away from Shanghai and is completely worth a side trip. It far exceeded our expectations of just drinking good tea. I can't recommend this place enough! We spent two full days here exploring and probably could have done one more.
We purchased a three day package that included entrance to the park, one bamboo raft ride, and bus transportation within the park for 355 RMB ($51.00 USD). It was a bit more than I usually pay when traveling around China but it was worth every penny, but the accommodations around the park were very inexpensive (I think we paid around $45 USD per night).

Impression Dahongpao
The stage of Impression Da Hong Pao was set up amidst the natural landscape of the Wuyi Mountains, in southeastern China. Da Hong Pao, a superior oolong tea, grows there.
Co-directed by Zhang Yimou, Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue, the 70-minute show includes stage performances and short films, exhibiting the rich Da Hong Pao culture.

In July 2015, we, a team of 7, started from Shanghai, drove over 20,000 kms, circled from the north to south, east to west in Fujian within 30 days, trying to captured the authentic faces of the land and the people on this land.
FUJIAN, literally means the blessed land in mandarin.
30 days in Fujian, we want to find the REAL FUJIAN through the real experience with the real people, which is the very first brave team in the whole country, maybe the whole planet.
It’s the first time EVER, in a real approach, no embellishment, to reveal the REAL FACES of Fujian, to the world.
What has been miscomprehended in the past, and what is possibly being blurred in the present, and what is t going to tell tomorrow, from our eyes and hearts, you can feel the REAL FUJIAN for yourself. There’s always too much to tell yet we couldn’t exhaust all the stories in this blessed land.
Prologue: Morning Awakening in the southern Fujian’s mountainous villages, the very preserved Tulou of Er Yi, in Hua An town, an inception back to 300 years’ Qing dynasty. The wonder of Tulou is no less than the Pyramids or the Great Wall, and much better in details and esthetic value.
The very first light of the God in the Tea Mountains touched our face and soul. The longest ancient bridge for centuries Luo Yang Bridge, connects the duality of the old and new. In the beach of Amoy, kids are having their purest happiness. While the kids in South Shao Lin Temple, where originates the Chinese Kong Fu of Shao Lin is already in their morning training, and they’re not alone in the city of Quanzhou, we met this girl in the street, she’s waving a bid knife in the tropical wind. And at the same time, a family dinner in a Tulou of Yongding starts.
Chapter 2: Tulou witnesses the changing face of the family and the time. The heritage of our ancestry passes to our generation. This 100-year-old grandpa has come back to Tulou after wars alone with his buddies died in the battlefields. Dancing as a tribute to our ancestries and the gods in the universe, wishing for more bless.
Chapter 3: The quotidian life in the city and country side, by the ocean and deep in the mountains. Fujianese look far across the Strait to Taiwan, where their family in blood lives now. Amoy is full of tracks of foreign cultures, like a Canne in the East Ocean. It’s a haven for the tourists from everywhere, you can blend in here effortless, have a quotidian life in Fujian.
Eat, relax, drink tea like a Fujianese. Go see the epic show of Impression: Da Hong Pao in Wu Yi mountain in the night and have a walk in Guling, Fuzhou, relive the life that the American ambassadors lived decades ago. The mosques, Buddhism temple, cathedrals or churches in this land marks the evolution of Maritime Silk Road.
Chapter 4: The Pilgrimage to the West is a Chinese classic in all times. And Mazu is the patron goddess of Mazu Island and the province of Fujian. The women in this blessed land have strong characters through history. Hui An Women and Xun Pu Women, they have been the core of their community back in the years of wars when all male are out in wars or making a living in the sea. Sailing in Dong Shan, appreciating an authentic Min Opera in Fuzhou or a puppet show in Quanzhou, Tasting the rock tea in Wu Yi Mountain… The sincerest and purest eyes here in Fujian, China, you can tell with your heart.
