Peru Trip Sept 2013: Inca Bridge (Machu Picchu)
My trip to Peru would not have been complete without a trip to the Inca Bridge near Machu Picchu. So here's the last couple hundred feet of the journey, and me trying not to fall the thousand or so feet trying to get to it!
Deadly Inca Bridge ???? - Explore Machu Picchu Peru overlooking the Sacred Valley????????
Crossing the Inca bridge (Inka bridge) will be tricky. Continuing the hike around Machu Picchu. This dangerous Inca Bridge was the way many of Peru's Inca people once reached the ruins.
Cutting across the face of a cliff shows dedication of the Inka people. It's easy to see the Spanish conquerors never discovered this majestic place, and why the Peruvian Government has since closed this route following the deaths of many tourists.

Episode 43
0:22 - Standing on top of Machu Picchu Mountain, the only place to go was down which was equally as hard as going up, especially because we didn't have any water...again.
1:08 - With legs burning and bodies hurting, we decided to explore one more section of Machu Picchu before the day was over and that was to see the Inca Bridge. The mountain paths to along the way provided gorgeous scenes of the Sacred Valley.
Right before the bridge itself the path is heavily barricaded to make sure no one can cross because we were told people had died crossing before. This was in end of the line in more ways than one and we headed back the the ruins to catch the latest bus home.
2:23 - The Travel Gods have ways of saying goodbye and we were greeted by a friendly white dog that followed us through the ruins right to our bus.
Being one of the first 100 people to enter and one of the last busses to leave, we made the most out of our 1 day in Machu Picchu. This point marks a pivotal shift in our trip
Our time in this majestical land has come to an end but our adventure in the next chapter continues...

Inca Bridge At Machu Picchu
- Visit this site to understand about the mysteries and secret structures from all over the world. Here is the Inca bridge that was constructed on the Inca trail. It was once used by Incas who took their belongings and Llamas via this bridge. Note how there are steps constructed below the bridge to maintain and repair the bridge. The Incas also made the bridge very narrow, so they could trap the enemies by pulling out the logs. Follow Me on:

Walking to the Inca Bridge in Machu Picchu
See amazing photos and read about our Salkantay (Inca Trail) hike to Machu Picchu in our blog:
The Inca Bridge at Machu Picchu
The Inca Bridge or Inka Bridge refers to the bridge to access of Machu Picchu, in Peru. One of the two was built by the Incas as a secret entrance to Machu Picchu for the Inca army.
This Inca Bridge is a part of a mountain trail that heads west from Machu Picchu. The trail is a stone path, part of which is cut into a cliff face. A twenty-foot gap was left in this section of the carved cliff edge, over a 1,900 feet drop, that could be bridged with two tree trunks, otherwise leaving the trail impassable to outsiders.

Machu Picchu offers many hikes to do, one of them is to hike till the Inca Bridge, a narrow path that probably connected the Inca Site with the roads of Capac Nan.

MACHU PICCHU RUINS | Sun Gate Machu Picchu Hike and Visit to the Inca Bridge
Today, we are visiting the Machu Picchu Ruins. And even better, we also visited the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu, as well as the Inca Bridge - two places only a relatively small number of people even go when they visit Machu Picchu.
We started off at Aguas Calientes with a 5:30 bus ride to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, a UNESCO Heritage Site in Peru.
The two highlights of our visit are the Machu Picchu Sun Gate Hike, as well as the Machu Picchu Inka Bridge. These two sites are within the boundaries of the Inca sanctuary, but they require hikes that many visitors aren't willing to take in the heat.
The Machu Picchu Inca Bridge hike follows a narrow path along a deep cliff canyon. There is not much protection from falling, so hikers have to hike extra carefully to stay on the path.
The Sun Gate is the gateway to Machu Picchu for those hiking the Inca Trail. As hikers arrive at the Sun Gate from the Inca Trail, they see Machu Picchu from a distance. The Sun Gate view is spectacular, and the hike to Sun Gate at Machu Picchu is highly recommended.

Machu Picchu - Angie Walks the Inca Bridge
November 2016. Amazing trails in Machu Picchu. We took this trail up which ends at the Inca Bridge. Angie was brave to walk across this bridge which consisted of wooden boards. Walked across like it was nothing. I overheard a tour guide explaining the purpose behind this bridge design. The Incas would lift the wooden bridge incase enemies were on the offensive, cutting off access to higher grounds where weapons were stored up top. Amazing experience and highly recommended if you love partaking in not your everyday hikes.????
