Ollantaytambo, Peru - Inka ruins in the Andes - Travel
Ollantaytambo is a town and an Inca archaeological site in southern Peru some 60 kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco. It is located at an altitude of 2,792 meters (9,160 feet) above sea level in the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, Cusco region. During the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti who conquered the region, built the town and a ceremonial center. At the time of the Spanish conquest of Peru it served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. Nowadays it is an important tourist attraction on account of its Inca buildings and as one of the most common starting points for the three-day, four-night hike known as the Inca Trail.

1:41 - Zip line upside down
3:57 - Crossing a weird & wobbly bridge
4:38 - Removing our own safety clips at heights
Episode 38
The incredible journey to Machu Picchu continues with an action packed day of zip-lining, one of our favourite outdoor activities when we adventure travel. Whether you have experienced this before or not, this course is intense enough to get your heart rate up.
1:41 - This zip-line adventure felt exhilarating as the ground drops away from under your feet as you cross the Sacred River looking over the beautiful Andes mountain Range. Most of the lines were doubles so we were able to go in pairs which is always more fun. The last one was an extremely long zip-line that had everyone going top speed.
3:57 - After zip lining, we crossed a weird and wobbly suspension bridge that was made of cable and thin branches spaced well apart to the point you could fall between them. Even though we had 2 safety clips on, some people felt more safe on the zip line coarse than this sketchy bridge.
4:38 - Surprisingly, you have to remove your own safety clips at 2 metal gates that hold the cables together. Easier said than done when the bridge is being shaken by people jumping in it, with minimal footing and carabiners that are difficult to operate through thick leather work gloves.
It was one of those don't look down moments as you crept your way across the bridge over the forrest canopy.

Machu Picchu & The Inca Bridge. May 2013
Part of Alan and Hilary's trip to Peru. This is a video comprising of stills and video footage, taken on our trip. The scenery is spectacular and can literally take your breath away. The altitude can be a problem, especially when exploring the higher parts of the site. Stop, have a rest and take in the magnificent views. We were very lucky and had a very clear day to take in the atmosphere.
The Bridge at Q’eswachaka
Last Inca Bridge of Ropes QUESWACHAKA
The Inca bridge of Queswachaka is located in the department of Cusco, in the province of Canas.
This bridge dates from the time of the Inca expansion under the command of the ninth Emperor Pachaquteq. Its construction was to achieve intensive control and trade between the high areas and the south coast of present-day Peru in the department of Arequipa.
For more than 600 years still, this bridge is maintained in optimal conditions, thanks to the 4 communities that repair year after year during the year. Specifically in the month of June. The structure of the strings made of a very resistant straw, with the quality of the women and the men ask the questions of the famous queswa, which means the plotting of many small ties, which can be read in others.
This bridge is on the Apurímac river or the gods that have sculpted the Apurímac canyon for millions of years.

Inca Rail train mountain views - Aquas Caliente to Ollantaytambo, Peru Go pro hero 5
If you're looking to take a trip to Machu Pichu, this is the train trip back from Aquas Caliente to Ollantaytambo in Peru! Inca Trail is a good, affordable company to book your trip with.
Additionally, if you did the inca trail this is what you'll be hiking.
We tried to hike via the train tracks at KM 82 but we got turned away by the guards. At around 8:22 you'll see the green bridge and this is where the Inca Trail starts!
I recorded this using Go Pro hero 5!
