All the recipes for all the foods here were of high end restaurant quality and were genuinely & absolutely delicious and authentic, in particular the recipe for the crispy veg was sublimely moreish.
Whilst in India we had the good fortune to attend several weddings but this particular one was the most spectacular in terms of the scale of the event and the large volumes of delicious freshly made food that was served up on the day.
Whenever and wherever there's a wedding in India there's also temporary street food style kitchens set up to cater for all the hungry guests; the food served up at this particular wedding was a mix popular street food and restaurant menu items + there were some delicious regional home cooked dishes also being served up.
A special thank you to the organisers who allowed me a privileged glimpse into such a spectacular event to do my videoing.
This Big Fat Wedding took place in Surat, Gujarat, India and was one of the most expensive weddings that I've ever witnessed.
This Weddings food served was a Feast fit for a King or Queen!!!
A day that any type of South Indian Thali had to take a back seat!!!
This was a dual wedding dinner / buffet. Two weddings actually took place. This video was recorded on just one day.
This was the pre-wedding feast that took place in the evening - both the actual wedding Jaans arrived well after midnight which myself and a lot of other guests did not wait around for.
2017 / 2018.
Rajasthani woman lives the rural life in Rajasthan
A Rajasthani woman puts away her pots and pans and other modest kitchen-ware onto a ledge in her basic home in the village. A woman lowers a khatia or charpoi or charpoy in the village and proceeds to sit on it, with her son. Another woman adjusts her saree and looks awkwardly at the camera.
She goes into her kitchen and begins to prepare lunch. All her belongings seem to be stored on that cement ledge at home!
A pair of village children look at the camera, entertained and amused at the same time. They run home where the surhai or matka pot contains fresh potable drinking water.
Rural life in Rajasthan. Rajasthani woman working at her kitchen preparing food and other members of the family are sitting outside the house. Women cover themselves with dupattas. And a woman carry a cot......
Rajasthan is Land of Kings or Land of Kingdoms, is India's largest state by area (342,239 square kilometres (132,139 sq mi) or 10.4% of India's total area). It is located on the western side of the country, where it comprises most of the wide and inhospitable Thar Desert (also known as the Rajasthan Desert and Great Indian Desert) and shares a border with Pakistan along the Sutlej-Indus river valley. Elsewhere it is bordered by other Indian states: Gujarat to the southwest; Madhya Pradesh to the southeast; Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to the northeast; and Punjab to the north. Its features include the ruins of the Indus Valley Civilization at Kalibanga; the Dilwara Temples, a Jain pilgrimage site at Rajasthan's only hill station, Mount Abu, in the ancient Aravalli mountain range; and, in eastern Rajasthan, the Keoladeo National Park near Bharatpur, a World Heritage Site known for its bird life. Rajasthan is also home to two national tiger reserves, the Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur and Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar.
The state was formed on 30 March 1949 when Rajputana -- the name adopted by the British Raj for its dependencies in the region -- was merged into the Dominion of India. Its capital and largest city is Jaipur, located on the state's eastern side.

Thar : The Great Indian Desert
The Thar Desert lies in the north-western part of India. It forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan.
In India, it extends from Gujarat in the west to Punjab and Haryana in the north. However, a major part of this desert lies in Rajasthan.
The Thar Desert experiences very hot summers. The days are very hot but the nights are cooler. In winter, the days are warm but the nights are very cold. The Thar Desert receives very little rainfall. As a result it remains almost dry. However, in recent times, due to environmental changes, some regions in Rajasthan experience floods during monsoon.
The Thar Desert is covered by shifting sand dunes. It is a small hill formed by the wind blowing over sand in the desert. The desert also has oases. The soil around an oasis is fertile, and date palms and other plants grow around it. Besides date palms, many bushes and shrubs like khejri, keekar, cactus, and babool grow in the Thar Desert.
The Thar Desert attracts many tourists. Places like Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur are well-known for their forts. Many types of birds and animals are found in the Thar Desert. There are many national parks in Rajasthan which are home to animals such as blackbuck, nilgai, chinkara, Indian wild ass, and camel. A national park is an area marked by the government to keep these animals safe. Sariska, Ranthambore, and Keoladeo are some of the important national parks in Rajasthan.
If you ever get a chance to visit the Thar Desert, do enjoy camel rides, the forts, and the rich wildlife.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

To start off the day we went to Chowk, the old town of Lucknow to eat Makkhan Malai. This is a sweat dish made of milk and yogurt battered together. It's basically whipping cream.
Next up we headed to the Aminabad market area to try the most famous dish in Lucknow, Kababs at Tunday Kababi. These meat kababs are juicy, soft and delicious!
Lastly we headed to a street where we tried Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Biryani and Ice Cream Rolls. The chicken tandoori was so rich in spices! The chicken biryani was by far one of the best biryani's I had ever eaten.
To end out epic Indian street food tour in Lucknow we had to eat some ice cream rolls. They were so fire! Have you ever been to Lucknow or eaten Indian street food before? Leave me a comment below if you loved this Indian street food tour for meat lovers in Lucknow!
