Beautiful Sunset Video on the Indian River Lagoon Estuary, Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach FL
Stunning sunset video taken while fishing on the Indian River Lagoon Estuary, Jensen Beach, Hutchinson Island, Florida. Sit back, relax and watch an amazing sunset scene waves and sounds of paradise.
About the Indian River Lagoon Estuary
With the Gulf Stream running just a few miles off Hutchinson Island on the Atlantic side and the Indian River Lagoon on the west side, Hutchinson Island has the perfect combination of location and habitat for some great salt water fishing! The tropical warm salt water combined with fresh water creates the perfect habitat for fish and is home to more than 3,000 species of plants and animals making the IRL the most bio-diverse lagoon ecosystem in the Northern hemisphere.
Large deep ocean fish migrate up and down the coast into the Indian River Lagoon to use the lagoon as a nursery and breeding grounds and with the St Lucie River feeding fresh water into the Indian River Lagoon lined with mangroves protecting the shorelines, that habitat also gives the fish the perfect protection from predators allowing them to grow and return to the ocean. It serves as a spawning and nursery ground for many different species of oceanic and lagoon fish and shellfish. The lagoon also has one of the most diverse bird populations anywhere in America. Nearly 1/3 of the nation’s manatee population lives here or migrates through the Lagoon seasonally.
The Lagoon contains five state parks, four federal wildlife refuges and a national seashore.[

Indian River Drive Jensen Beach Florida to Fort Pierce
One of my favorite things to do as a Treasure Coast resident is to take a leisurely drive along the Indian River. I can literally feel the stress leave my body and I quickly forget about my “to do” list as I travel long this beautiful stretch of water. The pace is slow, steady and there are no stop lights on Indian River Drive.
Indian River Drive is a two-lane road that runs from Stuart Florida all the way into Fort Pierce Florida. And what I like most about this stretch of road is that it makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. There are no big commercial buildings or high rises. Nothing but palm trees, sand and beautiful homes.
Living along the drive provides for a laid-back tropical feel and many of the home sites do have water footage directly in front of the property. Some waterfront homes have long finger piers where you could dock a boat, or just throw a fishing line. As you drive along the road you will see many home owners have small private beaches sprinkled with beach chairs, umbrellas and tiki huts.
Many people looking for waterfront homes with land like this area of Martin and St Lucie County. Most lots allow for enough space to store a boat, RV or numerous automobiles. I would venture to say at least half of the properties long the drive has at least an acre of land, however, many property owners have subdivided their lots for profit.
You will find as you drive along this road there are both very large estates and some very modest properties as well. I will also mention that there is no home owner’s association, so property owners have the freedom to do as they wish on their homesites. And while no HOA provides for some nice advantages, you must also take the good with the bad. No one can force your neighbor to power wash his driveway or prune his palm trees. So, as you drive along this road you will see it can be the wild west.
I find the homes along the river to be refreshing with a wide variety of choices letting people live in a less restricted atmosphere. If you are looking for something off the beat-n-path with the ability to let your hair down this is certainly a place to consider.
Feel free to browse homes for sale in both Martin and St Lucie county situated along the Indian River by visiting my website or by visiting my blog at and click the search tab.

Jensen Beach Florida Weather
Things to know about Jensen Beach Florida weather.
The Best and Worst Times to Visit Jensen Beach Florida:
1. April and November have the lowest rainfall.
2. June has the most rain, followed by July through September.
3. May and October have the best combination of low rainfall and warm but not blistering hot.
4. Winter is the worst time to go to Florida beaches. It can be windy and water can also be rough. But winter also is one of the best times of year with the lowest rainfall, making it ideal for land activities such as visiting theme parks, golfing and other recreational sports.
5. The best time to go to most beach destinations in Florida for warm weather is May through September.
6. Temperatures in November are pleasant and hurricane season ends on November 30th.
The heat and humidity aren't the only problems with vacationing in Jensen Beach Florida during the summer. The heaviest rainfall of the year usually occurs from June through August, according to 30 years of data from the National Weather Service.
The period of September through November shows a common pattern for almost every location -- more rains in September and then less rain for the rest of the fall season.
The east coast of Florida sees continued high rainfall, especially south Florida, because September is the worst month of the year for the Caribbean hurricane season.
As a result, the east coast is susceptible to bad remnant weather.
Average temperatures drop about 10 degrees over the three-month period.
Rainfall is even lower in November, but temperatures drop another five degrees or so. Ocean swimming will be a bit cooler than you would probably like however.
About Jensen Beach;
Jensen Beach is a quiet ocean and riverfront town with beautiful beaches, great fishing, and a quaint downtown with a small town pace. From the moment you enter the downtown area of Jensen Beach, the town’s “Pineapple Capital of the World” heritage becomes strongly evident.
Charming Florida cottages lined with picket fences and carved pineapples showcase local artists and their works. Surrounded by historic porch-fronted homes, Jensen Beach offers five-star dining and family eateries sporting Caribbean colors and a Key West style.
The variety of small, locally owned shops provide a wide array of charming shopping experiences. Every Thursday, locals and visitors alike head downtown for Jammin’ Jensen — a streetside affair full of live entertainment, food, and fun.
Right down the road from downtown, you’ll find Indian Riverside Park the Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast and the Treasure Coast Square Mall. All within minutes from our lovely downtown area.

Jensen Beach, Florida's Treasure Coast
We spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Miami in this laid back Old Florida town: Jensen Beach in Martin County. See you on the road, riding with my RV
Jensen Beach is located in Martin County, Florida, in an area north of Palm Beach and south of Cape Canaveral forgotten by time. Here, life a lot more laid back and high rise condos are few and far between.
In this week’s video we visit a small town in the Treasure Coast of Florida. The name of the coast originated from the loss of the Spanish Treasure Fleet in a 1715 hurricane in these shores. It is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, being just over two hours away. This is also the Indian River Lagoon area. The lagoon is the large body of water between the barrier islands and the mainland.
We are staying at the Pitchford RV and Mobile Home Park, which is so old school that they don’t even take credit cards. We know it is going to be a great time, exactly what we need. Beside the beach, we also sample the local cuisine, visit a historic site called the House of Refuge, the fishing village of Salerno, and neighboring Stuart.
