In 1937, Oud Batavia Foundation proposed a plan to establish a museum about Batavia's history. The foundation then bought a warehouse of a company, Geo Wehry & Co, that was located at Jl. Pintu Besar Utara no. 27 (now it's the building used as Wayang Museum). The warehouse was then renovated as Oud Batavia Museum. In 1939 the museum was open for public. After the independence of Indonesia the name of the museum was changed to Old Djakarta Museum, under the responsibility of Indonesian Culture Institution. In 1968 the Old Jakarta Museum was handed over to DKI Jakarta's government. On 30th March, 1974 the museum name officially changed to Jakarta History Museum by the government in-charged, Ali Sadikin.

BOGOR PALACE : the presidential palace in botanical garden
The Bogor Palace (Indonesian:Istana Bogor, Dutch:Het Paleis te Buitenzorg) is one of six Presidential Palaces of Indonesia, it is located in the city of Bogor, West Java. The palace is noted for its distinctive architectural and historical features, as well as the adjoining botanical gardens. Istana Bogor was opened to the public in 1968 to public tour groups (not individuals), with the permission of the acting President of Indonesia, Suharto. The gardens of the palace covers an area of 284,000 square metres (28.4 hectares). The original colonial building on the site of Istana Bogor was a mansion named Buitenzorg (also Sans Souci, meaning: Without a care in Dutch), which dates back to 1745 as a country retreat for the Dutch Governors to escape the heat and diseases of Batavia. The location for the new palace was discovered by Baron van Imhoff on 10 August 1744, in a village named Kampong Baroe. On the site he ordered a mansion to be built, however the construction wasn't completed by the end of his career in 1750 and thus it was continued by his preceder Jacob Mossel. An extensive renovation of the palace occurred under Governor-General Herman Willem Daendels (1808 – 1811). The palace was further expanded into two floors, with a new wing added in the east and west of the original structure

Bogor Botanical Garden, Indonesia | Canon HD | Virtual Trip
The Botanical Garden of Bogor
Practically the only activity in the city itself, the Botanical Garden of Bogor is located in the middle of the town of Bogor. It is impossible to circumvent if one stays a little on the spot.To get there, ask in his guest house Or on the street, everyone knows of course. From the Ubu Pensione, count a 15-minute walk, amidst people, cars, and mobile homes.
This botanical garden seems to be one of the largest in the world, 87 hectares and has existed since the 19th century. We have not verified the information, but the place is immense, it is a reality. Decor is pretty fantastic, tropical trees that you never see in the West, with a rather long list of species:
Arecaceae, Orchidaceae, Dipterocarpaceae, Palmae, tropical fruits, Musaceae, Dioscoreaceae. Trees with distant origins: Burseraceae, Dipterocarpaceae, Leguminosae, Meliaceae.
There are plenty of rest areas on the premises where young schoolchildren dance, have fun, celebrate birthdays and once again no tourist on the horizon.

Indonesian History 1948- The Renville Agreement
By late 1948, the returning colonial government was stuck in a quagmire, Troops had secured the Indonesian capital, and most of the country, but the situation was deteriorating, as Indonesians refused to accept Dutch control of the colony.
In December 1948, aboard the US Warship- The Renville, the Dutch authorities, and independence leaders signed an armistice, upon promises that peace discussions would continue.
Watch the Series- Indonesia, the Independence War
This would be historic agreement was short lived, after Yogyakarta, which was the capital of an independent Indonesia, was attacked by Dutch troops, breaking the promises made in the agreement.
In retrospect, the Renville agreement was the beginning of the end of colonial rule

Story of Bali Tiger || The First Tiger To Go Extinct
The Bali tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica) formally ‘’P. tigris balica’’ , harimau Bali in Indonesian, or samong in Balinese, is an extinct tiger subspecies that was native to the Indonesian island of Bali.
The Bali tiger was the smallest of all nine tiger races (formally sub-species), comparable to a large leopard or cougar in size.
The weight of a male was usually 90–100 kg (200–220 lb); that of a female was 65–80 kg (143–176 lb). The male was about 220–230 cm (87–91 in) in length (with tail), and the female 190–210 cm (75–83 in).
It was one of three races/subspecies of tigers found in Indonesia, and the first to go extinct. Others include Javan tiger, which is also extinct, and the Critically Endangered Sumatran tiger.
Bali tiger became extinct because of habitat loss and hunting. Given the small size of the island and limited forest cover, the original population could never have been large.
Surabayan gunmaker E. Munaut is confirmed to have killed over 20 tigers in only a few years in 1930s.
The last specimen definitely recorded was a female shot at Sumbar Kima, west Bali, on 27 September 1937.
It was probably eliminated by the end of World War II. A few tigers may have survived until the 1950s, but no specimen reached museum collections after the war.
Many claims of sighting have been made since, but without proof, mostly by forestry officers, in 1952, 1970 and 1972.
Though it is thought that the Balinese tiger was never captured alive on film or motion picture, or displayed in a public zoo, but some records now show it indeed was captured alive on film.
In early 1910s two young Bali tigers were trapped down by some Hungarian hunters and sold to USA based ‘’Ringling Brothers Circus’’. They were photographed by Circus Life photographer Harry A. Atwell in 1915. Photos were later tracked down from a history book who documented these animals.
Only a few skulls, skins and bones are preserved in museums. The British Museum in London has the largest collection, with two skins and three skulls.
In 1941, the first game reserve, today's West Bali National Park, was established in western Bali, but too late to save Bali‘s tiger population from extinction.
A few tiger skulls, skins and bones are preserved in museums. The British Museum in London has the largest collection, with two skins and three skulls.
Others include the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt, the Naturkunde Museum in Stuttgart, the Naturalis museum in Leiden and the Zoological Museum of Bogor, Indonesia, which owns the remnants of the last known Bali tiger.
In 1997, a skull emerged in the old collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum and was scientifically studied and properly documented.
