INDRAHAR PASS , DHARAMSALA / CHAMBA , DHAULADHAR RANGE 4350 mts ( MAY 2015 )
INDRAHARA / INDRAHAR PASS is one of the most frequented trail in DHAULADHAR RANGE used by GADDI SHEPHERDS , LOCALS , PILGRIMS and TREKKERS to enter RAVI / CHAMBA VALLEY from KANGRA VALLEY . The trek to this pass can be undertaken from DHARAMKOT / GALU near MCLEODGANJ DHARAMSHALA ( DHASA ) . This 4350 meters high pass of DHAULADHAR is an ancient and a very popular route . Enroute one crosses TRIUND , LAKA and LAHESH CAVE which are highly popular among hikers. The GADDI shepherds cross this pass as early as APRIL end when the pass is fully covered with snow . It involves climbing over steep and hard snow from LAKA over a glacier locally called as GENDU KE HAIN which leads one to the top of the pass . It is a good 6-7 hours walk over steep , hard snow from LAKA base to the top of the pass . It involves cutting steps in hard snow and negotiating hard and tricky patches . At the top of the pass one is blessed with the views of Sacred MANIMAHESH KAILASH PEAK . The snow capped peaks and passes of PIR Panjal can be seen from the top of the pass . This pass offers magnificent views of Chamba / Ravi valley and Kangra Valley .A small temple ( Trishuls , Prayer Flags, Sothus , Cairns ) dedicated to LORD SHIVA , NAG CHATRI DEVTA and MATA BHAGVATI / JOTAWALI on the top marks this pass In the months of August , September , October the trail gets cleared of snow hence the pass becomes relatively easier to cross . Having crossed this pass twice in August and September i wished to cross it in early may with the shepherds when the snow was still very hard and intact . Finally on may 2015 this dream became turned into reality . It turned out to be one of the most difficult climb of my life . 6.5 hours from Lahesh to the top of the pass tested the best in me . I couldn't have crossed this pass without the help of my shepherd friends AMARNATH and SHAYAM LAL KAPOOR who were on their way to KWARI with their flock of sheep and goat .The other side was all covered with snow and we glissaded down all the way to the base on the other side of the pass to CHATTA and MANADRA . From there on it was an easy walk to KWARSI VILLAGE and then on to HILLING , LAMU and the roadhead at CHOLI
