Sarasani Folk Dance from nearby Rainbow Mountain
The name of this Folkloric dance is Canchi de Sarasani from Pitumarca District, Canas province nearby the Rainbow Mountain.
The dance is performed mainly to show gratitude to our ancient deities such as the Apus(mountains) therefore the Boys are wearing the Condor's Feathers that represent the Mountains.
To see more of traditional dances, come to Cusco on the month of June, since most unions, neighborhoods, universities will be dancing to commemorate the famous Inti raimy, the Sun festival (21st, of June is the winter solstice).
1937 SILENT FILM TRAVELOGUE OF PERU CUZCO & INCA 84024
Land Of The Incas is a 1937 silent film produced by Castle Films as part of the Adventure Parade series that provides viewers with a glimpse of Peru and the Incan people who live there. The film begins “high up in the Cordilleras Mountains” (00:27) where donkeys and people haul kindling. Despite the rural mountain location, modern transportation now reaches the lofty villages in the form of a train (01:26), which passes mountains and lakes on its way. The film then takes viewers to Arequipa, a village at the foot of El Misti volcano (03:05), the Shrine of La Compania (03:52), and Inca ruins near Cuzco (04:04). No visit to Peru would be complete without a visit to Machu Picchu (04:39), but the film also visits nearby San Sebastian (05:16). Llamas (05:35) are “beasts of burden” and “suppliers of rich milk and source of native wool” in Peru. The film also shows the famous Cuzco Cathedral (06:48), Loretto Street (07:24), and the street of the 12-angle stones (08:04). A woman collects water from a fountain (08:22), while at the main plaza, people gather to buy and sell goods (08:54). The film then features a number of Incan people including a woman spinning wool (09:28), the mayors of four villages (10:21), a woman carrying her child on her back (10:40), and native dancers performing the “bull fight” at San Jeronimo (11:21).
We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? Tell people what it is and what they can see by writing something for example: 01:00:12:00 -- President Roosevelt is seen meeting with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference.
This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD, 2k and 4k. For more information visit

Flying with Edy part 4: Ollantatambo-Machu Picchu-Chinchero-Sacsayhuaman-Cusco
presents: From Cusco to Machu Picchu and back, not by train, or walking, but flying, Edy Herrán took us (Jesús Gamarra and Jan Peter de Jong) on this once in a lifetime experience. From the air we saw all the great vestiges around Cusco, starting with TIPON, than further to the south flying over the Huacarpay Lake and PIQUILLACTA, straight into the Sacred Valley where we flew over PISAC, MARAS, MORAY, OLLANTAYTAMBO, MACHU PICCHU and back to Cusco flying over CHINCHERO and SACSAYHUAMAN. In this fourth and last part we fligh further into the Sacred Valley towards Ollantaytambo and then to Machu Picchu, From Machu Picchu we returnt towards Cusco flying over Chinchero and just before Cusco over Sacsayhuaman.
Sacred Valley of The Incas Private Tour (The Hidden Gems) By Peru Summit Adventures
Sacred Valley Of The Incas Private Tours (Pisac, Maras Salt Ponds, Moray, Chinchero, Ollantaytambo) is a relaxed and incomparably beautiful and tucked under the tawny skirts of formidable foothills of the Urubamba range, long the home of attractive colonial towns, isolated weaving villages, the Rio (river) Urubamba, massive Incan agricultural terraces, ancient Incan temples. Explore these hidden places with a private guide at your side. The magnificent Incan archaeological sites found from Pisaq to Ollantaytambo and beyond – some of the finest not only in Peru but also in all of the Americas, are testaments to the region’s immense ceremonial importance. The Incas built several of the empire’s greatest estates, temples, and royal palaces between the sacred centers of Cusco and Machu Picchu positioned like great bookends at the south and north ends of the valley. Through the valley rolls the revered Río Urubamba (called in Quechua Willcamayu by the Incas; today it is also called the Vilcanota in one section), a pivotal religious element of the Incas’ cosmology. The Incas believed not only that the flow of the Urubamba was inexorably tied to the constellations and the mountain peaks, but also that the river was the earthbound counterpart of the Milky Way. With the river as its source, the fertile valley was a major center of agricultural production for the Incas, who grew native Andean crops such as white corn, coca, potatoes, and other fruits and vegetables in expansive fields and along spectacularly terraced mountain slopes. The valley continues to serve as a breadbasket for Cusco, providing grains, potatoes, peaches, avocados, and much more. Join us on this once in lifetime experience!

20160728h Salkantay Trek Day 3 Sahuayaku, Lucamabamba Coffee Farm, Inca Trail, Llactapata GOPR0053
After a delicious breakfast, you will get started on your shortest, but most interesting day. You will experience the most beautiful sights along your trekking route to Machu Picchu. You will explore the tropical forest and have a visit at an organic coffee farm, where you will be able to taste the coffee, prepared by the local people. Coffee is the main farming industry for the local people. They farm big hectares of coffee to export to the United States, Asia and Europe. Coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia, but it wasn't until the Spanish invaded Cusco, that it was brought to this region. You will also explore some orange and avocado farms. When you are finished, you will get the opportunity to climb part of the Inca trail for two and a half hours. You will see amazing views of the Santa Teresa valley, until you arrive at the Llactapata Inca site, right in front of Machu Picchu. This will be the first site you see, of the Lost City of the Incas. You will be able to see the Machu Picchu ruins, Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountain from this spot. You will explore and learn about the Inca site with your tour guide. There will be plenty of time to take photos. It will then be 15 minutes downhill, to your lunch and campsite area. This campsite is owned by a local family, and only Alpaca Expeditions has permission to stay there. This is a great place to enjoy the sunset and sunrise over Machu Picchu. After lunch, you will have some free time to enjoy the views and relax from the hiking. Again, we will serve a lovely happy hour, with tea and coffee, and your chef will prepare a delicious meal for dinner. Once the stars come out, you can enjoy the Milky Way and the Inca constellations. This is where Incan astronomers studied the sky to predict the weather.

Eating Cow Heart & Ceviche. Lima, Peru Food Tour ???? Food Capital of South America
We heard rumours that Lima is considered the food capital of South America, so we decided to put that to the test and spend a day trying Peruvian food in Lima.
We decided to start things off with the Peruvian classic, ceviche. We ended up at a restaurant called La Casa Del Ceviche. Made with chunks of fish, onion and a sauce called tiger’s milk, it was delicious.
Later in the evening we headed to a restaurant called Panchita. We first tried the well known Peruvian cocktail, Pisco sour. As a starter we tried a dish called causa limeña, which was kind of a layered dish with potatoes, chicken, egg, mayonnaise and avocado.
For our main dishes we had anticuchos de corazo, which is actually a cow heart, served as a kabob. We also had a dish called aji de gallina which is a chicken dish served in sauce made with a type of Peruvian pepper.
Lastly we headed to Parque Kennedy which comes alive at night. There are lots of food vendors there so we tried picarones. They are a type of deep fried dough, somewhat similar to a doughnut but made with squash and sweet potato and covered in a sweet sauce.
ABOUT LIMA
Lima, the capital of Peru, lies on the country's arid Pacific coast. Though its colonial center is preserved, it's a bustling metropolis and one of South America’s largest cities. It's home to the Museo Larco collection of pre-Columbian art and the Museo de la Nación, tracing the history of Peru’s ancient civilizations. The Plaza de Armas and the 16th-century cathedral are the heart of old Lima Centro.
ABOUT PERU
Peru is a country in South America that's home to a section of Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu, an ancient Incan city high in the Andes mountains. The region around Machu Picchu, including the Sacred Valley, Inca Trail and colonial city of Cusco, is rich in archaeological sites. On Peru’s arid Pacific coast is Lima, the capital, with a preserved colonial center and important collections of pre-Columbian art.

2:50 - Incan agriculture
4:18 - Some Machu Picchu history
5:01 - Learn about the sun stone, Intihuatana
Episode 41
This was the moment we had all been waiting for, the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu, Peru. Our adventure travel has us in on the of top spots in Peru. After an energetic 4am wake up we were on one of the first busses heading gates of this magical city.
Our amazing tour guide, Marco, takes us on a journey to discover secrets of the Incan culture and facts about this World Heritage Site. The history of Machu Picchu was astonishing to learn and sometimes it was almost unbelievable .
2:50 - Due to the location of Machu Picchu the Incan's were masters of agriculture and worshiped the sun for it's life-giving nourishment. The had very little space to grow plants so the designed terraces along the mountain side where different cops were grown on different levels because of temperature change from the bottom to the top.
4:18 - We learn about Hiram Bingham's discoveries and how he found a lot of llama bones and broken ceramics that were thought to be offerings to the sun. They believed the sun was going to leave them and that by making offerings it would return.
5:01 - The famous Machu Picchu sun stone or Intihuatana still has mystery surrounding it today as to it's main purpose. It was likely used as a way to measure the angle and position of the sun as this information would have been used to improve their agriculture abilities.
Seeing a ancient city in the clouds like this defines a breathtaking experience. This Wonder of the World is an engineering marvel that stands alone for building in an extremely elevated and remote location. What was once a small basecamp at a strategic crossing point in the middle of thousands of miles of Inca Trails through the Andes, grew into colony that was like no other before or after it's time.
