Myanmar/Inle Lake 10 (Nyaung Shwe Town) Part 41
Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Nyaung Shwe is a town a few kilometers north of Inle Lake in the Shan State of Myanmar. It is located south of Sakangyi and southwest of Taunggyi. Bawrithat Pagoda lies in the southern part of the town.Nyaung Shwe is the tourist hub for visiting Inle Lake. It consists of one main thoroughfare with numerous side streets and a few parallel roads. The main street has numerous shops, several restaurants, a few stupas, travel agencies and a market (located behind the storefronts). Near the end of this road, a bridge crosses the river channel near an impressive mirror-tiled stupa.
The town serves as a marina for the numerous long boats carrying tourists into the lake. The lake itself is located a few kilometers south through a river channel.
Nyaung Shwe can be reached by bus, car, or by plane via the airport in Heho, located about a one-hour drive away. The people of Inle Lake (called Intha), some 70,000 of them, live in four cities bordering the lake, in numerous small villages along the lake's shores, and on the lake itself. The entire lake area is in Nyaung Shwe township. The population consists predominantly of Intha, with a mix of other Shan, Taungyo, Pa-O (Taungthu), Danu, Kayah, Danaw and Bamar ethnicities. Most are devout Buddhists, and live in simple houses of wood and woven bamboo on stilts; they are largely self-sufficient farmers.
Most transportation on the lake is traditionally by small boats, or by somewhat larger boats fitted with single cylinder inboard diesel engines. Local fishermen are known for practicing a distinctive rowing style which involves standing at the stern on one leg and wrapping the other leg around the oar. This unique style evolved for the reason that the lake is covered by reeds and floating plants making it difficult to see above them while sitting. Standing provides the rower with a view beyond the reeds. However, the leg rowing style is only practiced by the men. Women row in the customary style, using the oar with their hands, sitting cross legged at the stern.

Nyaungshwe - Inle Lake Boat Tour (Burma/Myanmar)
Boat tour of Inle Lake from Nyaungshwe in Myanmar
Here's a short video of the boat tour we took. We paid 25,000 kyat for a 5 hour tour.
Journey to Bagan, Burma / Popa Mountain, Myanmar / Inle Lake, Nyaung Shwe
Our Journey to Bagan, Burma or Myanmar? This is actually only a debate for the English language. Burmese locals speak they are from Burma but write formally they are from Myanmar. It is said that letters B & M also Y & R are interchangeable in Indo-Chinese languages.
Formally known as Burma and was renamed Myanmar in 1989 by a Military dictatorship which overthrew the government in the 60’s and 70’s. The State Law and Restoration Council formed in 1988, thought that the previous name Burma coming from the majority ethnic group called Bama originated as the British Colonization name for its country and underrepresented all ethnic varieties in its lands.
Myanmar has encouraged tourism since 1992, but United Nations showed caution to foreign tourism due to its governments instability.
Now Tourism is very successful, yet untouched by western culture. There is no western fast food restaurants and still traffic is as most asian countries, organised chaos on the streets.
Bagan is another accent city we have visited recently and we thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness. Freely riding our eco-electric scooter through fields of hundreds of pagodas. Stopping and exploring selected places of worship, accepting their cultural rules.
- Removing shoes and socks before entering
- Covering the legs of women
- No sleeveless vests or singlets are to be worn
- Walk Clockwise around the temple and not in front of people praying
- Never point your feet towards the Buddha.
We always use booking.com for our accommodation

Visit Asiatico Pub if your in Nyaung Shwe, great expat bar. Pool tables, cheap alcohol and a fun atmosphere.
Also we visited Aung Traditional Puppet Show. There is many puppet shows in Nyaung Shwe. We were told this was the best. Please let me know in the comments if there is a better one! We thought is was great although we had a couple under our belt.
While we were in Nyaung Shwe we visited a monastery in the rice fields and met the Monk U Kon Da La, such a calm sole, he offered us bananas and told us of the changing seasons he has witnessed over last 39 years on the rice fields that surrounds the monastery. He spoke also how developed China is and of course named all the animals he knew of Australia.
On the way to Mount Popa there are many lest fortunate people on the side of the road begging for people to drop money for them. You will see in the video the people collective truck in front of us throwing money out for them.
Mountain Popa Resort was very professional, peaceful and has the most amazing view of the sunsetting behind the Temple placed right on top of a mountain. If you are visiting Mount Popa on a day trip from Bagan, visiting the resort just for a relaxing drink, lunch or swim in the infinity pool will complete your memory. Binoculars are also provided at their lockout point.
Traversing the Popa Mountain was quite pleasurable in the afternoon as the morning crowds subside and travel back usually to Bagan. Woman at the bottom fold corn kernels into paper prepairing for the monkeys feeding frenzy. The monkeys gave us no trouble although we were warned.
All in all we appreciated the warm welcoming by every person we met in Myanmar. The raw untouched culture was amazing to see and given another change we will be back to explore again.

We always Download the App maps.me and download the regions map before entering the unknown. These maps are offline maps and usually are very accurate, also show heaps of tourist sites.
We visited the most delicious vegetarian restaurants located in Bagan. Be Kind To The Animals The Moon and The MOON 2. We highly recommend this restaurant.

A Day on Inle Lake in Myanmar
On Website: now!
Please like our video if you enjoy it!
Inle Lake is a must see destination in Myanmar and is one of the reasons why this country quickly became our favorite country in S.E. Asia
No doubt, Inle Lake is a popular place in Myanmar, but it is certainly unique and worth a couple days visit. Nestled in the captivating Shan Foothills, Nyaungshwe town is the usual, popular starting point to see the enormous Inle lake. Nyaungshwe isn’t exactly what you would expect from a lake town back in your home country. There is an expectation that Inle Lake is a resort nestled beside a beautiful lake. Yes, however the town is quite far from it and requires a boat trip through a long canal to the lake. As a result, you won’t be drinking cocktails or sun tanning like any other lake resort, but your boat trip on the lake will be completely memorable.
There is a complete way of life on the water. The mountains peaking through the mist and fog provided the backdrop for life on the water. Fishing boats, immense floating food gardens, and homes on stilts accentuated the lake, as you navigate through a complex array of canals and villages around the late.
The best way to see to see it all is hire a boat – share the cost with at least 3 others and get up early, really early before sunrise to get the best light and views of everything.
- Head first to the daily rotating village market before the crowds
- Watch and Explore the markets witnessing negotiations from many local village people such as the Pa-O tribes neatly dressed in navy dress and colorful headdress.
- Cruise around the villages into the many riverways to the floating gardens
- The fishermen here take pride in having their own unique and surprisingly efficient way of rowing
- And often they put on a little show for travelers.

Kalaw Trekking: Inle and Nyaung Shwe (Myanmar)
3 days trip: Kalaw Trekking, Inle and Nyaung Shwe in Myanmar
Kalaw is a small beautiful town from Shan State, Myanmar. We started our trek from Kalaw to Inle within 2 days walking through the thrill valleys and beautiful mountains. We have to spend one night in small village during our trek. The best thing about the trip was traveling with my bffs:)
Of course, we did the budget trip this time also. We spent around $80 for 3 days in Kalaw, Inle Lake and Nyaung Shwe.
Inle Lake is so wonderful as well as the Inle locals.
Nyaung Shwe was a small tourist town with cozy pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes. Moreover, Red Mountain Vineyards and Winery is a must to spend the best sunset moments with Wine and Cheese!
The best time for Kalaw Inle trekking is from October to April!
Enjoy ;)

Inle Lake Tour | Wonders of MYANMAR
A beautiful, natural, peaceful lake so many visitors come to enjoy. Inle Lake was one of our Myanmar highlights as well. Yes, we say that a lot – guilty! We decided to take it easy towards the end of our trip so we planned to spend 3 days around the lake, enjoying the laid back life and exploring the nearby places. There are many restaurants and Spa’s in the city so Inle Lake is the perfect place to slow it down a bit.

Myanmar's INCREDIBLE INLE LAKE! | 12 Things to do by BOAT and BIKE
Inle Lake is a must see sight for any trip to Myanmar, made famous by it’s incredible floating villages and leg rowing fisherman... But there are so many more incredible things to do: including hidden gems like a vineyard, hot springs and a tofu village! In this travel guide, we will cover it all.
Whether you explore by boat tour or bike tour, these are the things you have to see!
0:41 - Taking a LONGBOAT TOUR at SUNRISE
We booked a tour through our hotel (every hotel around the lake will do this for you, no need to book in advance). Sunrise is really worth it to avoid the crowds and see the lake in it’s best light.
2:10 - Floating Villages on Inle Lake
Inle is home to the Intha people who live and work in stilted bamboo houses on the water,
2:55 - Silversmith
Our first stop on the lake.
3:15 - Inle Lake Rotating Market
A market that moves around the lake every day. A good spot for souvenirs.
3:35 - Traditional Lotus Weaving Workshop.
A really interesting stop on our boat tour, there are a lot of products for sale too.
4:00 - Cigar Makers
Another good stop, well worth a try too - no tobacco, only natural ingredients!
4:12 - Shwe Indein and Indein Village
My favourite stop on the boat trip. The temples are ruined making it a great place to explore.
5:45 - Renting a bike in Nyaungshwe
The main tourist town of Inle is the best place to stay and rent a bike from. There are loads of different routes to take too.
6:13 - Khuang Daing Nature Hot Spring
A small spa with natural thermal springs. A great place to relax!
6:57 - Great Viewpoint over the Lake
Right opposite the hot springs is a really good viewpoint and small temple.
7:23 - Khuang Daing aka Tofu Village
Take a tour with Yam around the many different food spots in the village, most involve tofu - but not like any you’ve had before!
8:20 - Red Mountain Estate Vineyard
Inle Lake’s winery and vineyard is not only a great place to taste some local wine, but it also has some of the best views of the countryside. Perfect for sunset.

MYANMAR - INLE LAKE (PART 2) - FISHERMAN (Full HD)
Inle Lake also known as Inle Sap, is a freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Taunggyi District of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar (Burma). It is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 116 km2, and one of the highest at an elevation of 880 m. During the dry season, the average water depth is (2.1 m, with the deepest point being 3.7 m, but during the rainy season this can increase by 1.5 m.
The watershed area for the lake lies to a large extent to the north and west of the lake. The lake drains through the Nam Pilu or Balu Chaung on its southern end. There is a hot spring on its northwestern shore.
Although the lake is not large, it contains a number of endemic species. Over twenty species of snails and nine species of fish are found nowhere else in the world.
In June 2015, it became Myanmar's first designated place of World Network of Biosphere Reserves. It was one of 20 places added at the Unesco's 27th Man and the Biosphere (MAB) International Coordinating Council (ICC) meeting.
