BADUY - INDONESIA (a Beautiful and Unique Culture)
The Baduy (or Badui), who call themselves Kanekes, are a traditional Bantenese community living in the southeastern part of Indonesia province of Banten, near Rangkasbitung. They are considered an uncontacted people, a group who are almost completely isolated from outside world. (Wikipedia)
So this is my second time visiting Baduy. First, when I was in high school like more than 10 years ago but only Baduy Luar (Outer Baduy). This time I reached summit or Baduy Dalam (Inner Baduy). Unfortunately visitors are not allowed to take pictures or record any videos in Inner Baduy. We have to respect their rules anyway.
I found that Baduy is so unique when I interviewed the Kanekes or Inner Baduy people. Not all of them are friendly. I was surprised when one of my friends recorded Outer Baduy people but suddenly they stoped their activities and continued when we left.
I had an amazing experience from this trip. Look forward to go there again sometime. Anyway, Western are not allowed to come. Sorry to say.
Hugs,
Murie

The Baduy (or Badui), who call themselves Kanekes, are a traditional Sundanese community living in the southeastern part of the Indonesian province of Banten, near Rangkasbitung. Their population of 11,700 is centered in the Kendeng mountains at an elevation of 300–500 meters (975'-1,625') above sea level. Their homeland in Banten, Java is contained in just 50 km2 (19 sq mi) of hilly forest area 120 km (75 mi) from Jakarta, Indonesia's capital.
Baduy people resist foreign influences and vigorously preserve their ancient way of life, while modern Sundanese are more open to foreign influences and a majority are Muslims.
The Baduy are divided into two sub-groups; the Baduy Dalam (Inner Baduy), and the Baduy Luar (Outer Baduy). No foreigners were allowed to meet the Inner Baduy, though the Outer Baduy do foster some limited contacts with the outside world. The origin of the word Baduy may come from the term Bedouin, although other sources claim the source is a name of a local river

For hundreds of years, people have been crafting bridges out of nothing but roots. The living root bridge as it’s called is a practice of tree shaping or guiding and forming tree trunks or their roots to form artistic shapes and physical structures.

Baduy Trip 2013
On Friday, May 10th 2013 until Saturday, May 11th 2013, me, my friends, Mr. Fajar and Mr. Arief went to Baduy. Baduy is located in Lebak regency, Rangkasbitung, Banten Province. Every year, Santa Laurensia School holds this activity for their students, especially for tourism vocational high school students.
Baduy is a group of Sundanese ethnic in Banten, exactly in Lebak Regency, near Rangkasbitung. Baduy people prefer to be called as Orang Kanekes. The Baduy are divided into 2 sub-groups, the first one is Baduy Dalam or Inner Baduy and the second one is Baduy Luar or Outer Baduy. The population is approximately 10.700 people. The population of Baduy Dalam only is approximately 700-800 people. The area of Baduy is 1.101 hectare. There are 65 villages there. 62 villages of Baduy Luar and 3 villages of Baduy Dalam. The villages of Baduy Dalam are Cibeo, Cikeusik, and Cikertawarna. The language is Baduy dialect of Sundanese. The religion is Sunda Wiwitan. Sunda means the ethnic like in West Java and Wiwitan means Kawit, Kawit means origin. So Sunda Wiwitan means the origin of Sunda. Baduy is leaded by a leader called as Pu'Un

(cruell maann..!!)
Baduy is a tribe located deep inside the heart of Banten Province of Indonesia. To get there you must trek the uphill and down of hills and valley cleaved by curvaceous river about 4-5 hours.
They refuse any modernization as they believe that human being is should be lived together with the nature.
The personality of Baduy people is interesting, their body is stilt, clear yellowish skin, straight forward, never little laughing or joking but nice, honest, strong resolution but not stubborn, not easy to be influenced or persuaded.

Rano Karno - hari Aksara Internasional (HAI) 2015 Banten

SUMMARY
=======
Banten is the westernmost province on the island of Java, in Indonesia. Its provincial capital city is Serang.
The population of Banten was officially estimated at 11,834,087 at the start of 2014, up from over 10.6 million during the 2010 census. Formerly part of the province of West Java, Banten became a separate province in 2000. The province is a transit corridor to the neighbouring Indonesian island of Sumatra.
Historically, it has had a culture distinct from the rest of Java and that of the broader Indonesian archipelago. In recent years, the northern half, particularly those areas near Jakarta and the Java Sea coast, have experienced rapid rises in population and urbanization, while the southern half, particularly that facing the Indian Ocean, maintains more of its traditional character.

THE MOSQUE OF NOBODY
The said nick name may have been properly given to Masjid Maulana Yusuf in Mangpelem Condong, Sub Regency of Leuwidamar, Lebak Regency, Banten. West Java. This is actually the closest mosque from Ciboleger, the village which is directly bordered to the Village of Kadu Ketug, the outmost area of Baduy tribe. Thus, it is as well the front most line in the development of that said remote tribe..
The construction of this Maulana Yusuf mosque started in the end of 1980s, as it can be read from its inauguration inscription signed by the Minister of Religious Affairs of The Republic of Indonesia at that time. January, 1990; it was led by a Muballigh of Dewan Da'wah Indonesia (DDII) Allah Yarham Ustadz Didi Sudarma. After his demise, it was continued by Ustadz Drs Engkos Yusroni who is at this time the Chairman of PCM (Pimpinan Cabang Muhammadiyah/Head of Muhammadiyah Branch) of Leuwidamar Sub-Regency, concurrently Chairman of the Education Board and Muhammadiyah schools in the area.
Until this time the mosque is still used as the worship place for shalat berjamaah five times a day and the weekly Shalat Jum'ah. However, the physical condition of the mosque has really caused sad feeling. Since its construction and used as the place of worship, Maulana Yusuf mosque has never been touched by the so-called construction maintenance efforts, because there is no money.
The ceiling which is made of bamboo looks rotten here and there, following the formation of the roof which is full of holes. Because of its labile ground, the building construction has been at an angle in such a way. What is more, the small house at the back of the mosque which was formerly intended for the janitor and the 'ta'mir' to live in, has been driven away by landslide and flown by the one of the Ciujung river upstreams. The main problem at this time is the crack on the ground in the middle of the mosque at the first praying line. (The geological movement has made the crack wider from day to day). If we do not care about this condition, it is not impossible that in a short future a part of the mosque building will be the victim of the land slide and enter the flow of the Cijung river too.
The efforts to obtain renovation fund has been tried to several da'wah institutions, like Muhammadiyah and DDII, but it was in vain because, according them, this mosque does not include in the list of their assets. This might due to the fact that there is no budget for the maintenance of a building construction. There was also an idea to send a proposal to the Governor of Banten Province, but failed because the governor has faced a serious problem.
The big question is Shall we, Moslem people in the world, let this condition happen? If you care, feel concerned with the condition, please go there, to Mangpelem Condong village, Leuwidamar, to witness how important it is your participation to save that House of God.

He lost his work at the ministry in Siberia because of the melting oil prices. Then he sold his things and headed to an adventure in an unknown direction. Soon he left out of money so for the rest of the journey he kept travelling without any.
He had the funniest way of talking and perceiving the world. His whole life was a string of absurd happenings and situations that I simply cannot describe here. He always made us laugh hysterically. In the old town we also met another Russian and an Ukrainian who were trying to collect money by playing the guitar on the street. This hardened our opinion about the Russian travelers being the most crazy and extreme type.
Another phenomenon we observe is the incredible communicative nature of Indonesian people. One day Elizabeth spoke in a close manner with a taxi driver so we thought they were old friends. After he drove us home he entered the house, walked around and kept touching things.
To our utter amazement we understood later they had never met. On the next day Elizabeth invited him with his wife and kids to a walk in the sea park. During our stay Elizabeth was really, really nice to her. We tried to pay for things but she never let us no matter how much we insisted. At the end of our stay she took us to one of the most incredible places we had ever been – the land of the Baduy.

Batik
Batik (Javanese pronunciation: [ˈbateʔ]; Indonesian: [ˈbatɪk]) is a technique of manual wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a canting (IPA: [tʃantiŋ], also spelled tjanting), or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap (IPA: [tʃap], also spelled tjap). The applied wax resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to color selectively by soaking the cloth in one color, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colors are desired.
A tradition of making batik is found in various countries, including Nigeria, China, India, Malaysia,Philippines and Sri Lanka; the batik of Indonesia, however, is the most well-known. Indonesian batik made in the island of Java has a long history of acculturation, with diverse patterns influenced by a variety of cultures, and is the most developed in terms of pattern, technique, and the quality of workmanship. On October 2009, UNESCO designated Indonesian batik as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

FACTORY ASIA Full Movie

Java
Java (Indonesian: Jawa; Javanese: ꦗꦮ) is an island of Indonesia. With a population roughly equal to Russia as of 2014, (excluding the 3.7 million on the island of Madura which is administered as part of the province of East Java), Java is the world's most populous island, and one of the most densely populated places in the world. Java is the home of 57 percent of the Indonesian population. The Indonesian capital city, Jakarta, is located on western Java. Much of Indonesian history took place on Java. It was the center of powerful Hindu-Buddhist empires, the Islamic sultanates, and the core of the colonial Dutch East Indies. Java was also the center of the Indonesian struggle for independence during the 1930s and 40s. Java dominates Indonesia politically, economically and culturally.
Formed mostly as the result of volcanic eruptions, Java is the 13th largest island in the world and the fifth largest island in Indonesia. A chain of volcanic mountains forms an east-west spine along the island. It has three main languages, with Javanese being the dominant language; it is the native language of about 60 million people in Indonesia, most of whom live on Java. Most of its residents are bilingual, with Indonesian as their first or second language. While the majority of the people of Java are Muslim, Java has a diverse mixture of religious beliefs, ethnicities, and cultures.
