NC driver hits 600-pound black bear with car
North Carolina drivers are hitting black bears on the roads, and experts say now is the most dangerous time of year. A 600-pound bear was killed in eastern North Carolina after a car crash.
Bad Drivers of Western North Carolina 20
Well, here it is! My (somewhat) new format for my North Carolina episodes! The biggest and most obvious change is the new intro, which I hope you like just as much as I do. Another quite obvious change is the thumbnails, which will be changing for Maryland videos as well in the future.
However, we are not in the future, we are in present times, so let's get excited for Bad Drivers of Western North Carolina 20! This episode was THREE months in the making! I really wanted to hit it out of the park and make it my best ever!
Bad Drivers of Western North Carolina 20 has just about everything from red light runners to major cutoffs. Although these past few months may have been slow, there are plenty of clips that you really don't want to miss. Also, please let me know what you think of the new changes!
Now enough of me rambling on, enjoy the episode! However, it's now time for the typical dashcammer disclaimers and other miscellaneous info.
This video is for entertainment purposes only.
I am not a perfect driver and nor do I claim to be. I am human and I make mistakes.
Please look at North Carolina driving laws/regulations before critiquing, as laws may vary from each state.

Road Rage can Increase During Holidays
ASHEVILLE, NC -- Traffic around Tunnel Road and The Asheville Mall can turn into a gridlocked maze in the days leading up to Christmas. Shoppers daring to head over to the area in the two last weekends leading up to Christmas know the area can get packed. A survey done in 2013 by State Farm Insurance showed that aggressive driving is likely to increase around holidays. The survey showed one third of drivers polled said their likelihood to engage in aggressive driving increases during the winter holidays.
What this survey had found was most of the times during the holidays were a lot more naught than we are nice, said Dave Phillips, a spokesman for State Farm. And aggressive driving really seems to increase when it comes to holiday shopping.
Contributing factors can include more traffic, more stress to get things done, and winter weather during the holiday rush. APD does not specify road rage incidents when filing police reports so there's no specific way to track the city's cases though drivers are ticketed for other traffic related offenses like reckless driving or speeding. A spokesman with Highway Patrol said they did not see any trend of road rage incidents spiking during the holidays.

APD: Man Purposely Caused Accidents, Committed Insurance Fraud
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Police say an Asheville man committed insurance fraud and intentionally caused traffic accidents in Buncombe County and other parts of the state. Byron Benson Fulghum Jr., 26, was involved in 14 accidents in Buncombe County since July 2012, according to police. They say he was in another six accidents in other parts of the state. On March 26, Detective Travis Barkley drove past an accident that caught his eye, but was already being worked by a fellow officer. Later that night, a friend approached him with a video of that same accident that he thought looked suspicious. The next morning, Barkley looked further into the video, uploaded under the name Ben Fulghum on YouTube. There, Barkley saw two more accident videos, one from January and another from March. Each of which were taken from a dashcam inside the vehicle -- and all looked suspicious, according to Barkley. The three crashes in 3 months led him to check Fulghum's driving record. I saw he was involved in 14 accidents since July 2012 in Buncombe County alone, Barkley said. Barkley captured the videos from the YouTube site, which have all now been removed from Fulghum's channel. The following week, Asheville police executed a search warrant of Fulghum's residence on Sand Hill Road to check his camera and other digital files to see if there were other videos. He was eventually charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon (the automobile), two counts of reckless driving, and two counts of injury to personal property. A number of agencies have now gotten involved in the investigation, according to Barkley. Last week, the NC Department of Insurance charged Fulghum with six felony counts of insurance fraud. The investigation continues and more charges are possible, Barkley said. Fulghum made his first court appearance on the driving charges from APD last Wednesday. He was released on 0,000 bond, and a further court appearance was set for Aug. 13. Fulghum's court appearance for the fraud charges is scheduled for Aug. 4.

DWI Hit & Run
Victims of a highway rampage are thanking their lucky stars tonight. All of them were involved in highway wrecks near Asheville, where a woman is now charged with D.W.I., hit and run, and reckless driving.
At least eight cars were caught up in the highway carnage, all perpetrated according to the Highway Patrol, by a woman driving drunk.
Witnesses say the terrifying highway rampage was like a scene out of grand theft auto. Anything that was in her way, it seemed like she was after, says Daniel and Heather Ingle. They feel lucky they weren't hurt after she rammed their car. It was crazy, really, really crazy, says Daniel Ingle.
Troopers say 27 year-old Tiffany Hill was under the influence of alcohol and on medication when she slammed into numerous cars. The highway rampage started near Hendersonville Road in the westbound lane of Interstate 40. Witnesses saw Hill driving erratically, swerving in and out of traffic and laying on the horn.
It was the craziest thing I've ever experienced in my entire life, says witness Chris Rivers. Rivers called 911 and began chasing her after she slammed into him. Somebody snapped and was on a rampage and somebody had to stop her before she hurt somebody, he says.
Hill eventually lost control on I-26 near Airport Road. Every car that she came in contact with she would try to basically sideswipe or t-bone off the road, says Rivers.
We went into the guard rail and she just reversed, took off and kept going, says Heather Ingle.
Continuing on a rampage they fear could have been much worse. It could have been a lot worse. Somebody could have got seriously hurt or killed very easily, says Daniel Ingle.
The District Attorney's office is now reviewing reports that are still being compiled. Hill faces numerous charges and others are pending. She has a court date, set for July 10th.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department had a bomb scare after a “suspicious package” caused the entire station to evacuate. Police officials used a robot to remove the package, so that everyone would stay safe. Rob Truman, CMPD spokesman, stated, “Out of abundance of caution, we’ve evacuated the building… determine if anything nefarious with that package or anything suspicious. Once we get some resolution, we’ll get people back in the building.”

The nurse's assistant who may have been the target of a deadly nursing home rampage in North Carolin
HEADLINE: Mom: Suspect's ex survived NC shooting by hiding
CAPTION: The woman who may have been the target of a deadly nursing home rampage in North Carolina survived by hiding in a bathroom inside a locked area for Alzheimer's patients, her mother said Tuesday. (March 31)

NB. THIS IS A VOICEOVER TRANSCRIPT, NOT A FULL SHOT LIST.
[Notes:VO --SUNDAY CRIME SCENE]
Chaos at a North Carolina nursing home Sunday as a gunman killed seven elderly residents and a nurse who worked at the facility.
But now there's word that the woman who may have been the intended target of the attack...survived by hiding in a bathroom.
[Notes:SOT -- 911 CALL]
hurry hurry...they're on their way ma'am....they're on their way...hurry...hurry.
[Notes:VO --CRIME SCENE]
Police have charged Robert Stewart with the killings.
The mother of his estranged wife -- a nurse at the facility -- says her daughter escaped the gunfire by hiding in a bathroom inside a locked section for alzheimer's patients.
[Notes:VO --CRIME SCENE]
The woman says her daughter left Stewart about a month ago and moved back to her family's home.
She describes Stewart as a man with an explosive temper.
Court documents show the pair had an on again -- off again relationship spread out over many years.
They married young --divorced -- married others -- and got together again before splitting apart yet again about a month ago.
Here's what one of Stewart's ex-wives is saying about the shooting.
[Notes:SOT--SUE GRIFFIN/SUSPECT'S EX-WIFE]
I couldn't believe it....then I thought...and said, it's possible....it's possible.
[Notes:VO---CRIME SCENE]
Proscutors aren't commenting on a specific motive, but say the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Stewart was shot at the scene... by officer Justin Garner -- who also suffered gunshot wounds.
[Notes:SOT -- OFFICER'S RADIO TRANSMISSION]
I've been shot in the foot....you're advising the shooter himself has been shot at this time, correct....10-4...along with myself.
[Notes:VO --CRIME SCENE]
Both men are currently recovering.
Stewart is receiving medical care in a Raleigh, North Carolina prison -- where he is facing eight counts of first degree murder.
Authorities say they haven't completed a full interview with him yet.

Animal Advocates Seeking Abusers of Dogs Found on Road
MADISON COUNTY, N.C. -- After two small dogs are found in terrible condition in Madison County, animal advocates are searching for the abusers.
A woman found the dogs on the side of State Road 213 last week. It is unlikely they would have survived the night if she had not picked them up. One has lost both its eyes, and both have rotten teeth. Both dogs are very old and their tongues hang continually out of their mouths. Wherever they have been living, it is obvious they have been confined in their filth for no less than years, FOMCA says.
Their fur was so matted with waste it took hours to clean them. Michelle Johnson with the Friends of Madison County Animals says it was hard to witness the condition of the dogs.
When you see it in person it's just too painful. You can't, I mean, you see pictures online and stuff, but when you see an animal suffering this way you have to do something, Johnson said.
Johnson believes the dogs are puppy mill dogs who are no longer productive, which is why they were dumped. FOMCA is asking if anyone purchased a puppy that looks like these dogs come forward, as this may lead to the abusers. They may be Maltese or Shih Tzu.
If anyone has information about where the animals came from, call the Madison County Sheriff's Office at (828) 649-2721.
See all the photos of the dogs below. We want to warn you that some of the images may be graphic.

Road Rage With Dangerous Limo Driver - UrbanBCN Worldwide
UPDATE: It's been brought to my attention that this company is now being left bad reviews on Yelp and possibly other review sites. As much as we're upset with this company for not doing enough to discipline their driver and the dismissive attitude toward some things he did, I encourage my viewers NOT to leave ANY reviews for this company because the intent of the review system is for only people who have had direct, first-hand experience with the company being reviewed. I believe it's unfair to leave reviews in response to a video, as the video itself I believe, is the proper platform to let the public know about a dangerous incident committed by a company driver. My dashcam driver will be leaving their own review, which will be as fair and balanced as possible.
It seems we aren't even safe from road rage from professional drivers with their company information displayed on the vehicle. This chauffeur limo company driver makes a careless driving move......fine. We all make mistakes. But then he makes a dangerous situation even worse with what we believe to be an act of retaliation due to anger, followed by unprofessional conduct. We contacted the company - UrbanBCN Worldwide Executive Transportation (San Francisco) - and communicated with the owner of that company and showed him the video. For a reputable company with excellent customer reviews, we were honestly surprised by the owner's reaction and follow-up to this. Watch the video to see the close call, brake checking and the flipping off.
This incident took place in the Napa Valley on Highway 29.
