We as a group performed 3 tasks whereby we assisted the International Primate Rescue to improve the current standing of the facility, the safety of the primates, as well as the people residing at the institution, and the health of the monkeys in regards to having a clinic on-site.
Due to future arrivals of more primates, if the new enclosures aren't completed in time, these primates run the risk of being euthanized and therefore we assisted in creating a safe haven by painting the steel enclosure frames.

Malnourished monkeys rescued in SAfrica
(23 Apr 2016) About sixty malnourished monkeys were rescued on Saturday from a Garden Centre in Little Falls, near Johannesburg.
The International Primate Rescue (IPR) organisation obtained a court order to remove the primates along with any other maltreated animals.
Volunteers with cages and nets were accompanied by the police to catch, feed and transport the animals to a nearby place of safety, in the North of Pretoria, where the IPR has a monkey sanctuary.
Sue Mousley, director and founder of the IPR, said they were notified by members of public about the poor conditions in which the monkeys lived.
Mousley said the organisation gave the owner of the Garden Centre numerous chances to improve the living conditions of the monkeys, but after the owner failed to do so the IPR felt compelled to remove the primates with the help of the courts.

JCP 2014 Group 439, International Primate Rescue
This was a project of the Community-Based Project of the Faculty Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology of the University of Pretoria. We helped the International Primate Rescue to build new enclosures for a large group of primates that will soon join the family. We learned a lot including how to work efficiently in a small group and we had a lot of fun while making a difference. Thank you to the friendly team at IPR for making us feel at home and to Dr Jordaan for organising the JCP project so well.

The Importance Of International Primate Rescue
I thoroughly hope you enjoy this film, which was entirely unplanned and was all shot on a compact camera. However, in a place like International Primate Rescue, it is hard not to be pushed into trying to create beautiful content. This film was shot whilst I was working at IPR during any free minutes I had.
