Invisible Presence Hungary 2013
The Invisible Presence exhibition
Invisible Presence is an exhibition of 19 photographers. There is more in the photos than what is visible at the first sight -- the invisible is present. In the exhibition the works are projected outdoors in a digital form. The projection equipment is installed inside a car which makes the exhibition portable. Walls of Buildings are used as projection surface. Trip to Hungary was part of the tour that started from Helsinki in the summer of 2012.
The Finnish-Hungarian exhibition includes works from the following photographers (nationality): Kristoffer Albrecht (FIN), István Balogh (HUN), Jenni Haili (FIN), Taika Ilola (FIN), Martti Jämsä (FIN), Marjaana Kella (FIN), Jyrki Kirjalainen (FIN), Veronika Koczian (HUN), Ritva Kovalainen (FIN), Viivi Nieminen (FIN), Pekka Nikrus (FIN), Angéla Nyiri (HUN), Karoliina Paappa (FIN), Uku Peterson (EST), Ida Pimenoff (FIN), Marja Pirilä (FIN), Jaana Ristola (FIN), Liisa Söderlund (Meile & Sergei) (FIN) and Ági Vedres (HUN).
Hungary trip
Jyrki Kirjalainen (yours truly), Jenni Haili and Kaisla Löyttyjärvi flew from Helsinki to Hungary. István Balogh took care of the arrangements in Hungary. Àgi Vedres helped in promoting the exhibition. The Arts Promotion Centre Finland funded the trip. Suomi-Unkari Seura / Finnish-Hungarian Society helped in the project from the beginning (director Marjatta Manni-Hämäläinen). Finnagora (Culture and science institutes of Finland in Hungary) assisted in permission issues. The Council of Sárospatak helped in arrangements of the screening. Ferenczy Múzeum of Szentendre helped in arrangements and in promotion. -- Thank You.
The schedule for the Hungary tour was as follows (screening spot): Sárospatak 15.6. (Comenius utca/Hild tér), Szentendre 21.6. (Ferenczy Múzeum, Kmetty János Kiállítóhely, Fő tér 21), Budapest 22.6., Night of the Museums (Városligeti fasor/Dózsa György út, corner of). The project group took a plane from Helsinki to Budapest, from there a car was rented to get around.
The exhibition concept and feedback from the audience
Moving Gallery has arranged similar outdoor photographic screening tours earlier: Screening Helsinki and Backlight Screening as part of the Backlight'11 photographic triennal. The exhibition concept was born about three years ago as an idea to take photography outside galleries and museums. Today setting up an exhibition, making the necessary arrangements and technical issues are handled with experience. Jyrki Kirjalainen has been leading the development of the concept and has coordinated the projects from the beginning.
Outdoors screening bring the photographic art among a new audience. One of the most interesting part of the concept is to have discussions with the people in the audience -- these feedbacks also tell that there is a demand for this kind of exhibition activity; People like the concept. Also quite many people in the audience don't visit photographic exhibitions in galleries and museums -- the audience is new.
The exhibition was documented during the trip to the Moving Gallery web site ( This is the documentary video of the Hungary screening tour.

Continuation
We had a very warm welcome in Hungary. Co-operation was smooth and we were also invited to come back (by Finnagora and Sárospatak city, for example). We are planning to make a similar type of project in Hungary in future. The Invisible Presence photographic exhibition will still be presented in Finland.
An exhibition of 19 artists travels with a low budget. We are hoping to get new chances to take the exhibition concept further and to show what we can do!

Hungry for Budapest: Gellert Spa, Hungarian Parliament, and Fisherman's Bastion!
Had too much time (and maybe a little too excited to edit my Copenhagen trip) to whip this last video of my spring break vacation to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest!
I would highly recommend visiting:
- Szamos Gourmet Haz
- Szenchenyi Thermal Bath (could be a little crowded but bath temperature was really nice when we went)
- Hungarian Parliament (Go at night!!! and look at the view from both sides of the river)
- Gelarto Rosa
- The Invisible Exhibition (you’re not allowed to bring anything that emits light in the exhibition hence the lack of clips at 02:28-03:00)
- Fisherman’s Bastion

L1danceFest 2013
L1danceFest 2013 --- September 18-22.
L1 Association founded in 1998 as an alliance of independent Hungarian dancers has been focusing on the promotion of contemporary dance from the very beginning by supporting the productions, coproductions and presenting the works of talented Hungarian and foreign artists. L1 Contemporary Dance Festival (a.k.a. L1danceFest) considered to be the most important annual event of the Association has gradually developed into a carefully selected European muster of unique contemporary dance and theatre projects. Its general aim is to import new creative thinking and progressive art practices to Hungary.
L1danceFest slowly became the most respected civil performing art event of the decade, presented by the dancer Márta Ladjánszki (even as a one-man institution), who just like all the performers she has always been interested in the zeitgeist, humanity, honesty and sovereignty of contemporary arts. Therefore TranzDanz was thrilled to join this inconveniently alternative festival with their unique series, 'Jövőtánc'. Péter Gerzson Kovács
