Ipswich to Essex
A drive from Ipswich to Essex Ma.
Through the Lens of Time: Ipswich Time-Lapse
A shorter video that I made in Ipswich, MA. It is shorter than the last one and has some more rough sections. I was trying some different intervals and topics to capture and this was my first try.
The music is Once in a Lifetime by Future World Music. Unfortunately because of the pacing of different scenes I had trouble finding a well matched song. In the future I want to try and keep solid interval shots per video, but because I was on vacation and only around for a limited time I had to use all I could get.
There is a slowed down video at the beginning which was an attempt to use a different form of recording in the video. I think it fell short for this one but I hope to improve on my next one.
Thanks for Watching!

George Sherwood, Kinetic Sculptor. Wind and Light - Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Summer 2008, Boothbay, Maine.
Sherwood's sculptures are based on movement that is both subtle and obvious. At times it appears his sculptures do not move at all, and at other times they are a flurry of activity reminiscent of the tall swaying plumes of late-season cimicfuga in an autumn breeze. His work is made exclusively of stainless steel, the reflective qualities of which integrate the sculpture into its environment. Wind speed and direction, shades of light, time of day, precipitation, and seasonal color transform the qualities of light and movement. As stated by curator June LaCombe, his sculpture, exemplifies art for an ecological age. Further, she states, [Sherwood's] sculpture celebrates botanical forms and patterns in nature with proportional harmony.
Sherwood's work is part of the permanent collection at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine, and the Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, Vermont. In 2004, he exhibited at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, New Hampshire and in 2009 at the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2007 he was awarded the Lillian Heller award for Contemporary Art at Chesterwood in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Sherwood is a member of Boston Sculptors Gallery and the Royal Society of British Sculptors. He is represented in collections throughout the United States and Europe.
Sherwood lives and works in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

Heading into Ipswich on the northbound MBTA commuter rail, Halloween 2013
Around 7:10 am, Halloween morning in 2013, on the Newburyport branch of the MBTA commuter line, northbound, above Hamilton-Wenham to where the Ipswich River, its tributaries, and beaver ponds criss-cross the railway on the approach to Ipswich Station. This video ends when we pull into a side-track to let a Boston-bound train by. Some fall foliage, a well-maintained memorial to a kid killed by either the train or by diving into the river, a nice shot at the bend of the river where everything reflects. It's just a nice train ride at this part where connectivity drops out and you're left to an oddly pre-circuit board existence.

Hammond Castle, Magnolia MA USA
John Hays Hammond, Jr. built his medieval-style castle between the years 1926 and 1929 to serve both as his home and as a backdrop for his collection of Roman, medieval, and Renaissance artifacts. The castle was constructed as a wedding present for his wife Irene Fenton Hammond to prove how much he cared for her. In addition, the building housed the Hammond Research Corporation, from which Dr. Hammond produced over 400 patents and the ideas for over 800 inventions. Second only to Thomas Alva Edison in number of patents, John Hammond was one of America's premier inventors. His most important work was the development of remote control via radio waves, which earned him the title, The Father of Remote Control.

A high-speed tour of art at Ipswich Hospital
Take a high-speed art tour of Ipswich Hospital focusing on the drawings, paintings, photographs and sculptures that brighten up its corridors.
Pieces specially commissioned by professionals hang alongside those by local school pupils, art groups, college students and those looking to sell their work or teach others.
One highlight is stroke patient Alex Osborne’s painting. The art student created it with his non-writing hand as part of his therapy in helping his recovery.
The largest piece is Suffolk artist Paul Richardson’s sculpture of two pairs of ballroom dancers entitled Dancers (a quick step to recovery).
The larger than life silver and gold painted steel figures can be found with beaming grins outside in a courtyard.
The historic photographs seen on the way into the Stroke Ward can also be useful in helping patients by triggering memories that could be the key to releasing others.
Some of the more colourful pieces have been made by the youngsters in the Schoolroom in the children’s ward. Other artists, such as Picasso, are used as inspiration or projects may reflect the natural world.
This video is just a taste of what can be found around Ipswich Hospital, there’s lots more to be found if you keep your eyes peeled.
Q150 Steam Train - Ipswich Railway Workshops Transfer - DD17 1051 and AC16 221A - 15.08.2009
Queensland celebrated its sesquicentenary in 2009, 150 years of independence since separating from New South Wales.
As part of the year long celebrations, the Queensland Government organized a steam train to travel the length and breadth of the state, visiting more than 30 communities.
In this video we see steam locomotive DD17 1051, aka The Blue Baby, returning to the Ipswich Railway Workshops after operating special steam train rides at the Ekka.
Also in steam that day was the 1943 Baldwin built AC16 221A, which was being prepared to run light engine to Brisbane's Mayne Depot.

Sustainable Heritage [USGBC+]
Appleton Farms in Hamilton and Ipswich, Massachusetts, is one of the oldest and largest (with more than a thousand acres) continuously operating farms in the United States. Established in 1638 by a land grant to Samuel Appleton, the farm today preserves a bucolic landscape, agricultural traditions, and historic farm buildings that are disappearing in the eastern part of the state. Acquired by the Trustees in 2000, Appleton Farms has the ambitious goal to become carbon-neutral in its near future.
