I crossed the Pacific Ocean Van on sailing boats as crew and visited The Unites States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, The Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, The Kingdom Of Niue, Rarotonga, Tonga, Fiji, some other small islands and ended up in New Zealand. In New Zealand I cycled 3.000km from the northernmost point to the southernmost point. After that I rode a motorbike from Vietnam to Laos and Cambodia. Recently I converted a Rusian 4x4 UAZ Buhanka oldtimer into a campervan and am driving around Central Asia with my puppy dog.

Traveling Iran Walking In Mashhad City Streets & Shops Middle East 2019. I am traveling in Iran, walking in the Mashhad city's streets, Bazar, Markets, and shops. Mashhad is located in the northeast part of the country in Khorasan province. Mashhad city is a holy city of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is the second-largest city with over 3 Million population and capital of Khorasan-e Razavi Province. There are many modes of transports as Car, Taxi, Public Buses, Trains and by Air. It’s centered on the vast Holy Shrine of Imam Reza, with golden domes and minarets that are floodlit at night. The circular complex also contains the tomb of Lebanese scholar Sheikh Bahai, plus the 15th-century, tile-fronted Goharshad Mosque, with a turquoise dome. Museums within the shrine include the Carpet Museum, with many rare pieces. Mashhad means is the place of Martyrdom. By the end of the third Hijri century, a dome was built on the grave of Imam Reza and many buildings and bazaars sprang around the holy shrine. In 383 A.H. 993 A.D. Sebuktigin, the Ghaznavid sultan devastated Mashhad and stopped the pilgrims from visiting the holy shrine of Imam Reza. Tourists from the different parts of the world and Shia pilgrims, zawar, ziarin visit this holy city every year in large numbers and also travel other cities of Iran. Travel by bus to Iran is very cheap. fare price is low in Iran by rail, buses, taxes and by air. Oil prices are very low too. Diesel and petrol price is around 6 to 10 cent per liter.

TRAVEL IRAN || TEHRAN // SAADABAD COMPLEX // 2018
The historical complex of Saadabad extended over 110 hectares is located in the foothills of Darband and Tochal and consists of 17 palaces, museums and halls.
It first inhabitant was Qajar monarchs and royal family in the XIX century. Reza Pahlavi expands it and lived there in the 1920s. His son Mohammad Reza Pahlavi moved there in the 1970s.
After the Iranian Revolution, the complex became a museum.
Currently, parts of the Saadabad Palace compound are museums, in which visitors can roam through and look at the rich history of Iran, and some parts of the compound are used by the Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization which is responsible for most of the artifacts, locations, and cultural aspects of Iran.

The Grand Bazaar
Right in the heart of the city, the Grand Bazaar is an essential visit for any tourist in Tehran. With over 10 kilometres of labyrinthine alleyways filled with covered shops, haggling customers, and general commotion, you will find everything from jewellery to carpets and pots and pans for sale here. One of Tehran’s oldest areas, this commercial centre is teeming with history and character, and there are some exceptional restaurants dotted around.
Tajrish Bazaar & Imamzadeh Saleh
The bazaar in the northern district of Tajrish is smaller, prettier, and altogether less stressful than the Grand Bazaar (although prices are higher). There is a colourful market of fresh fruit and vegetables, and some excellent touristy shops selling traditional crafts and kitschy memorabilia. Check out the kebab restaurant in the centre of the bazaar, and the teahouse just off the main drag. It’s also worth visiting the stunning adjacent shrine, the Imamzadeh Saleh.
National Museum of Iran
The National Museum of Iran is filled with an impressive range of treasures and objects from the 30,000 years of human habitation in the Iranian plateau. From Stone Age tools to primitive art, from decorated capitals from Persepolis to coins and pottery, the museum features items from the length and breadth of Iranian history. The building itself, designed in the early 20th century with nods to Sassanian architecture, is one of Tehran’s more interesting modern constructions.
Milad Tower (Borj-e Milad)
The Milad Tower is one of Tehran’s most iconic structures, and the most prominent feature of the city’s skyline. Completed in 2007, it stands at an impressive 435 metres, making it the sixth tallest tower in the world. Trips to the head of the tower are inexpensive and worth the effort on a clear day, for nowhere else can beat it for panoramic views of the city. If you want to push the boat out, the tower also boasts a fancy, revolving restaurant.
Azadi Tower (Borj-e Azadi)
Built in 1971 to commemorate 2500 years of Persian monarchy, this iconic tower fuses elements of Sassanian, Achaemenid, and modernist architecture. Literally meaning ‘Freedom Tower’, the ivory-coloured, Y-shaped building is situated in a park in east Tehran, and features a well laid out underground museum. Though not as tall as the Milad Tower, it nevertheless boasts fantastic views of the city from the top floor.
Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art
The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art boasts the most extensive (and valuable) collection of artworks outside Europe. Although some items have not been exhibited since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, works by big names including Picasso, Monet, Andy Warhol, and Henry Moore are on display, as well as pieces by Iranian artists. The building itself, inaugurated in 1977, is a striking modernist structure, and a great place to meet young, artsy Iranians.
Park-e Jamshidieh
Located in the most northerly reaches of the city, Jamshidieh is a large park in the foothills of the Alborz Mountains. Fresh air and lush surrounds are enough to merit a trip to this out-of-the-way spot, but the outstanding views of the city below are what makes it a must-see. The higher you climb, the better the views become but if you don’t feel like a hike, there are plenty of nice spots for picnicking and drinking tea. It is particularly picturesque in the winter months, when it often receives the first snowfall of the year.
Golestan palace
Just a few minutes from the Grand Bazaar, you will find the magnificent Golestan Palace, a 19th century Qajar royal abode. The palace complex consists of 17 structures in total, including reception halls, museums, throne rooms, and royal quarters, and boasts impressive, well-kept gardens too. The intricate tile work, mirrored interiors, symmetrical fountains, and marble thrones demonstrate the pinnacle of Qajar-era architecture, and provide a sense of the level of opulence the monarchs would have enjoyed.
Mount Tochal
Mount Tochal sits in the mountain range to the north of Tehran, with its peak reaching a staggering 3,993 metres. An excellent challenge for mountaineers, trails set off from Darakeh and Velanjak, with tea houses staggered along the way. If you lack the time or inclination for the trek, a telecabin service will take you all the way up the mountain for a reasonable fee. The top of the mountain also has a small ski piste, with equipment available to rent. Not as impressive as Dizin or Shemshak ski resorts, but ideal for a quick afternoon getaway.
Shahr-e Rey
An important political and religious centre that predates Tehran, Shahr-e Rey lies just to the south of the capital, and is accessible by the metro (it’s the most southerly station). Its highlights include a quaint traditional bazaar, the ruins of a Sassanian fortress, and a Seljuk tomb, but the main draw is the Imamzadeh Shah Abdol Azim....!

After arriving in Tehran I went straight to one sight I haven’t shown you in my episode from Tehran yet…but it totally belongs on your list: the Tabiat bridge.
My road trip through the north of Iran started on the next day with the goal to introduce you to as many things to do in the north of Iran as possible. For this I was fortunate enough to go with local friends of mine as we needed to drive quite a lot to get to all the places in just one week.

Tehran is the capital of Iran. Tehran is second-largest metropolitan area in the Middle East. According to the Global Destinations Cities Index in 2016, Tehran is among the top ten fastest growing destinations. The city can be roughly divided into two different parts - north and south. The northern districts of Tehran are more prosperous, modern, cosmopolitan and expensive while southern parts are less attractive but cheaper.
HISTORY
The settlement of Tehran dates back over 7,000 years. At the time of the Zand dynasty, it was a little town that was significant from a strategic point of view. The Qajar king Agha Mohammed Khan choose Tehran as the country's capital in 1778. And most of its growth started during the reign of a subsequent Qajar monarch, Fath-Ali Shah. The castle which Agha Mohammed Khan had built was to contain the new majestic buildings. The capital has been moved several times throughout the history, and Tehran is the 32nd national capital of Iran. During World War II, Soviet and British troops entered the city. In 1943, Tehran was the site of the Tehran Conference, attended by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin, and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
POPULATION
Its population of around 8.8 million in the city and 15 million in the larger metropolitan area of Greater Tehran. Tehran is the most populous city in Iran and Western Asia. The majority of the population of Tehran are Persian-speaking people, and roughly 99% of the population understand and speak Persian, but there are large populations of other ethno-linguistic groups who live in Tehran and speak Persian as a second language. Iranian Azeris form the second-largest ethnic group of the city. The majority of Tehranis are officially Shia Muslims, which has also been the state religion since the 16th-century. Other religious communities in the city include followers of the Christian, Judaism, and Jews.
TOURISM
Tehran, as one of the main tourist destinations in Iran, has a wealth of cultural attractions. Tehran is home to many historical collections, including the royal complexes of Golestan, Sa'dabad, and Niavaran, where the two last dynasties of the former Imperial State of Iran were seated. Tehran's most famous landmark, the Azadi Tower, was built by the order of the Shah in 1971. There are several historic, artistic and scientific museums in Tehran. The Iranian Imperial Crown Jewels, one of the largest jewel collections in the world, are also on display at Tehran's National Jewelry Museum.
TRANSPORT
Tehran is served by the international airports of Mehrabad and Khomeini, a central railway station, the rapid transit system of Tehran Metro, a bus rapid transit system, trolleybuses, and a large network of highways. Tehran is one of the most car-dependent cities in the world. Tehran has a central railway station that connects services round the clock to various cities in the country, along with a Tehran–Europe train line also running.
EDUCATION
Tehran is the largest and the most important educational center of Iran. There are a total of nearly 50 major colleges and universities in Greater Tehran. Among major educational institutions located in Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, University of Tehran, and Tehran University of Medical Sciences are the most prestigious.
ENVIRONMENT ISSUE
A plan to move the capital has been discussed many times in prior years, due mainly to the environmental issues of the region. Tehran is rated as one of the world's most polluted cities, and is also located near two major fault lines. The city suffers from severe air pollution.
ECONOMY
Tehran is the economic center of Iran. About 30% of Iran's public-sector workforce and 45% of its large industrial firms are located in the city, and almost half of these workers are employed by the government. Tehran's present-day modern industries include the manufacturing of automobiles, electronics and electrical equipment, weaponry, textiles, sugar, cement, and chemical products. It is also a leading center for the sale of carpets and furniture. The oil refining companies are based in Tehran.

As for many tourist visiting Iran, the capital Tehran has been our first stop and introduction to the country. We used our time in the city to explore the best things to do in Tehran by focussing on attractions and spots that are interesting for younger travelers paired with important historic landmarks.
Beside typical tourist attractions we wanted to see what the real Iran is like and reached out to local friends for further recommendations. This way we got to go to places locals use to hangout, have a coffee or simply relax from the hustling and bustling city center. We used various local transport options and explain how you can get around on the cheap. Last but not least we give a few recommendations for typical persian dishes you should try when visiting.

Valiasr Street is a tree-lined street in Tehran, Iran. It is also the longest street in the Middle East. Valiasr Street is the hub of different activities in Tehran and innumerable shops and restaurants as well a large number of parks (like Mellat Park), highways, cultural centers are situated along this long avenue.
