-The city has been an important commercial centre for the surrounding agricultural area since the 13th century
-It became a castle town of the Isahaya family in the Edo period (1603–1867) and were demolished during two generations and lost figure as castle
-Isahaya Park was built on the ruins of Isahaya castle (also known as Takashiro) during the Taishō period
-The park is famous for its azalea blooms, and the Azalea Festival is held here, on and around April every year
-The park is also known for its Spectacles Bridge over the pond
-Isahaya was also referred to as Hanamachi, a town with licensed quarters
-This song was one of the popular songs in the Hanamachi area

ー現在唄われている歌詞は、昭和9年頃、当時の市長・土橋滝平が作詞したもの
ー江戸末期に流行した「相撲甚句」から派生したもので、諫早市の花柳界で唄われるようになった
ー長崎県諫早市は長崎県中央部に位置し、大村湾・有明海・橘湾の3つの海に囲まれ、県下最大の穀倉地帯も広がっている自然の恵みが豊かな地域
ー諫早公園にある、諫早城跡は亀城とも呼ばれ、亀の伝説に基づき大亀の背中に石塔がのっている
てんてんメモ：
諫早城は「がめんとさん」と呼ばれ、亀の甲羅のような形をした山になっているそうです。敵が城を攻めると、亀が手足を伸ばして山を押し上げ、敵が攻められなくするという伝説があります。わたしは昔からカメが大好きで、池にいる亀の子を一日中飽きずに眺めてました。お山を背負ってヒョコヒョコ歩く姿がなんとも愛らしいではありませんか。諫早は行ったことはないのですが、わたしが先生とお呼びし心から尊敬する人の生まれ故郷です。先生の諫早訛りを聞いて育ちました。いろんな思い出が込み上げてくる、味わい深い唄です。
