Oyama is a beautiful mountain located in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture (about 1 hour from Tokyo). Halfway up the mountain lies Afuri Jinja, a beautiful shrine with breathtaking views of the Kanto Plateau. The shrine can be reached either by a one hour long hike up a steep path, or via a 6 minute cable car ride (I opted for the first option).
Every autumn during the season when the leaves turn red, there's a Autumn Leaves Illumination event at the shrine. During the event the nearby shops stay open a bit later than usual, and the mountain can be quite crowded. In fact, I was planning to take the Cable Car down after this event, but the line was so long so I decided to hike down in the dark instead, something that turned out to be much easier than expected.
This was filmed with a Fujifilm X-T3 in 4K 60FPS. The lens used is a Laowa 9mm f2.8, and the camera was mounted on a Zhiyun Crane for stability.
Shot in F-Log and graded in Adobe Premiere CC.

Oyama Shinto Shrine
The Oyama Shrine was established in 1599 in Utatsuyama, east of Kanazawa. It was moved to its present location in1873 and renamed to Oyama-jinja. The main gate was constructed in 1875. This gate is a peculiar mix of traditional Japanese, Chinese, and European religious architectural elements. The third floor is particularly famous for its Dutch stained-glass windows. It is said that the third floor was also used as a lighthouse.
Shofuku-ji (Iizumi Kannon 飯泉観音) Temple, Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan
坂東巡礼 第5番 勝福寺 (飯泉観音)
Shofuku-ji Temple is located in Odawara city of Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan.
Shofuku-ji Temple is affiliated with the Shingon sect of Mahayana Buddhism. The temple's main religious image is the Eleven-faced Kannon, a bodhisattva who represents maternal compassion. The name of the Kannon is Iizumi Kannon. The temple was first constructed during the Nara period (710-793) in a village called Chiyo. The temple was burned down, and was rebuilt in 1706 in its present location where it became known as Iizumizan Shofuku-ji. The main hall (Hondo) of the temple was reconstructed full of local colors combined with the traditional style of the early Edo Period (1603-1867). The temple is also famous for its Daruma-ichi, a market for dharma dolls which is held annually on December 17 and 18.

Afuri Jinja Shrine, Oyama ● 阿夫利神社
► Afuri Jinja Shrine is a shinto shrine, located near the peak of Mount Oyama in Kanagawa. From the foot of the mountain you have to take a 20 minute walk up what seems to be a million steep stairs. Then take a cable car further up the mountain, before finally walking more stairs before reaching the small Afuri shrine.
To me, the best thing about it is probably it's location, surrounded by beautiful nature, mountains, trees, small waterfalls & streams. From the back of the shrine is a hiking trail that leads to the top of the mountain, from which you can see Mt. Fuji. - Enjoy!

Samurai Festival - Ota Dokan Matsuri
Ota Dokan Matsuri is a samurai festival held in mid-October between the second and third weekend in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture. Ota Dokan (1436-1486) was a samurai lord in the mid-late 15th Century famous for building the first castle where the Imperial palace now stands. He was played by comedian Chihara Seiji.
Behind Ota Dokan in the parade is Hojo Masako (1156-1225) she married a samurai destined to become the first reigning Shogun, Minamoto no Yoritomo. She's remembered as the Ama-Shogun (Nun Shogun) for her determination to keep her family in power. She was played by comedia Shizu-chan.
Please watch: Must Visit Place In Kobe Japan --~-- Mount Ōyama (大山 Ō-yama), also Mount Afuri (阿夫利山 or 雨降り山 Afuri-yama) or Mount Kunimi (Kunimi-yama), is a 1,252-metre-high (4,108 ft) mountain situated on the border of Isehara, Hadano and Atsugi in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Together with Mount Tanzawa and other mountains in the Tanzawa Mountains it forms the Tanzawa-Ōyama Quasi-National Park. Mount Ōyama is a popular sightseeing spot in Kanagawa Prefecture. A bus connects Isehara Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line with the cable car station at the foot of the mountain. A narrow road runs directly between the town areas and the cable car station. The cable car starts from next to Ōyama-dera and climbs to the top station. The top station is not far from the lower Afuri Shrine. Hiking from there it takes about 1.5 hours to climb to the top of the mountain. Tofu and spinning tops are well-known local products. The Ōyama Tofu Festival takes place every March. The Ōyama mountain climbing Marathon also takes place in March between Isehara Station and the lower shrine. The course is over 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) long and includes an altitude difference of over 650 metres (2,130 ft). Possible access points for an ascent are the cable car terminus, the temple Hinatayakushi (日向薬師 hinatayakushi) in Isehara, Minoge (蓑毛 minoge) and the Yabitsu ridge (ヤビツ峠 yabitsu-tōge) in Hadano. JAPAN SOLO ADVENTURE Part Seven: Hiroshima/Osaka (Days 9/11)
I decided to document my three week solo adventure through Japan not only to show off the beautiful land that is Japan but also hopefully to inspire others to do the same. It truly is a remarkable place and everybody has been so helpful and welcoming.
In this part I pay my respects at the peace memorial in Hiroshima, see some castles and experience the madness that is Osaka nightlife. I missed a day of filming which was 90% travel and self indulgence so no loss there.
More parts will be uploaded in the coming weeks so stay tuned and thanks for watching!
