Hot Spring SPA time at our Hotel Ryokan Hiraisokan in the nearby town after having walked from Oarai Torii Beach without shoes (because soaked wet) through the cold winter night. The Onsen Hot Spring water is a brown type with some minerals in it and hot enough to heal one up! Then we are served the dinner, nice but nothing fancy. The room is cosy and quiet enough with ocean views behind the pine trees. In Japan observing the First sunrise of the year is an important thing to do but the horizon border was hosting clouds so the sun came through after 7:30 and then we went for breakfast, again nothing fancy. The huge queues of hundreds people lining up to pray at the famous shrine Isesaki Jinja were interesting to see as were the Doll makers taking photos of their elaborate cute dolls with the iconic Torii. Finally food time I get to grill my own Ayu fish ???? and it was the best ever I really loved this not do expensive shop where you choose what you want to grill and do it yourself at your table! Then we visit the Mentaiko Park building selling cod roe products including icecream made from it. For sunset we go up the Marine Tower of Oarai and are luck enough to see Mount Fuji in perfect shape with no clouds! Nicely spent first day of the new decade 2020!
