Turkey - Road to-from and Ishan Church self
An old Georgian church in Turkey. The road to it was wet and slippery, but with beautiful scenery. The church also worth a visit. Visited it on 9 April 2014.
Turkey Ishan
Işhan: In the rugged country of northeast Turkey are several rarely visited ruins of medieval churches built when the kings of Georgia ruled the area. One of the most beautiful is in Işhan on a high plateau, now only a tiny village. The church was built between the 9th and 11th Centuries and dedicated to the Mother of God in the 11th Century, the same period that saw an explosion of Gothic cathedrals dedicated to Mother Mary in Western Europe. The paintings on the walls are fading fast, although a camera's zoom reveals the paintings inside the dome. The intricate stone carvings, no two patterns seem repeated, are beautiful. Video taken in September of 2004.
Uzundere area - Ishan monastery
On 10 July, before heading to the Barhal valley, we visited Ishan monastery. It is a beautiful 10th century Georgian church with a frescoed dome at the top of a steep dirt road.

Ishkhani. Monasterio abandonado en el este deTurquia.Citröen C15
Ishkani is a ruins of Christian monastery in Turkey in the village of Arpacik province of Artvin. It was one of the important spiritual centers in the medieval kingdom Tao-Klarjeti. Only the magnificent church and the chapel have survived. The first mention of the monastery is in a Georgian manuscript dating from 951, which is now kept in Jerusalem. It is claimed that a monastery was founded on the site of a previous church. The first church was supposedly damaged during the 7th century Arab invasions. Georgian inscriptions inside the church and on the facade indicate different periods of restoration, from 917 to 1032.
The monastery used to be one of the five patriarchates of Tao-Klarjeti and its church functioned as a cathedral until the seventeenth century. It was used as the headquarters of Ottoman officers during the Russo-Turkish War in the 19th century, then it became a mosque and remained so until 1983. In 1987 the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey registered Ishkhhan as a national cultural monument and the site is now protected. In 2013, the Monastery was renovated. The inscription in the Georgian and Armenian language placed at the entrance of the chapel, says that King Gurgen I dedicated the chapel to the Holy Mother of God in the year 1006. The interior walls of the chapel were covered with frescoes. Only the figures in the apse can be identified, including a representation of the enthroned Christ.

Barhal Valley, the ride to Olgunlar
On 11 July we drove through the Barhal Valley up to Olgunlar. Although the distance is not that great, the ride took several hours because of the poor road condition, but the first swarms of butterflies made up for that.

SuGar: Jam Body Live Performance at Cratos Hotel, Girne
SuGar (real name Joshua Alatoru) is a young songwriter from Port- Harcourt, Nigeria. After having played drums in the church during his childhood days, he decided in 2010 to become a songwriter like his influences Banky W , Tuface, R/Kelly, Wande Coal, Usher, Wizkid,'Sojay' of Eldee's Trybe record (who happens to be his cousin) etc,. Thanks to his talent for writing radio-friendly pop songs that connect with audiences with the very first listen, his songs have been recieving a lot of airplays both home and abroad.
A songwriter of instinct, SuGar has a flair for writing catchy songs that leave the listener moved by the raw emotion in them. Although his roots are firmly placed in mainstream Pop and RnB, he draws inspiration from many different lyrical and musical influences. My style is eclectic..I can write a RnB ballad today, and the next an Afrobeat melody will come out of me, and I'll be wondering..where did that come from?. It is that versality that has landed his song Nawti Girl, a power Afro-pop, on top of the radio charts in his base , and that had made publishers interested in him.
Sugar is sharing his time between live performances, Academics and spending plenty of time in the studio with his producer and Manager at the moment, Nicholas Abamu, where he writes material he hopes to pitch to publishing companies in the near future. Based on the reception of his latest compositions, the future looks promising!
