Our ISHIGAKI, Japan experience! Chilled Vlog
Earlier this year my wife and I embarked on a plane to Ishigaki Japan. It was our 2nd year anniversary. My wife had seafood dreams and I was eager to get my drone in the sky. Luckily we got to tick all the boxes and find some scenic places along the way.
ISHIGAKI is Japan's most Southern Island, the most distanced part of the Okinawa prefecture. With a population of just under 50,000, it's still got a very community and rural vibe. I have been to Japan's main Island near Kyoto and experienced living there. But this was way different. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the typical busy Japan was no where to be seen.

EXPLORING ISHIGAKI - BUDGET SHIP THEME HOTEL TOUR! Blue Cabin Ishigaki -Ishigaki part 4
Great for SOLO AND BUDGET-FRIENDLY TRAVELLERS!
I stayed at the Blue Cabin Ishigaki, which is a great 'value for money' budget hotel in the ferry port of Ishigaki.
The hotel is ship-themed (hence the name and decor) and I stayed in a 'cabin' room in the women's only floor.
The hotel was clean, modern and had lots of amenities which made my stay very comfortable and pleasant!
Plus buffet style breakfast in the morning and free use of the jacuzzi in the evening! WOOP WOOP! :)

Panari island near Ishigaki near Okinawa is an island with only 10 registered inhabitants and virtually no contact with the outside world!!!
That's right, no one even knows about this place, there's no transport to the island unless with an adventurous boat captain who will take you there.
It's easiest to get there directly from Ishigaki island. Just check out Ishigaki Okinawa Japan guide on our website for more details. If you worry about the language barrier, you can rest assured. Nao from Jiyujin Ishigaki Boat Tour speaks Japanese and English and took us all the way there. We came back in one piece so you can rely on him!
Since it's so isolated, this place brings a lot of interest to anyone who finds out about it. This is why the waters surrounding this island are pristine and abundant in marine wildlife.

Taketomi Island, Japan

Taketomi Island (竹富島 Taketomi-jima, Yaeyama: Teedun Okinawan: Dakidun) is an island in the Yaeyama District of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Taketomi is one of the Yaeyama Islands. The population of Taketomi Island was 323 as of January 2012.
Taketomi Island is located 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of Ishigaki Island. The island has a village in the center, also named Taketomi. The island covers 5.42 square kilometres (2.09 sq mi), and runs 2.7 kilometres (1.7 mi) east to west and 3.4 kilometres (2.1 mi) north to south.[3] Taketomi is a raised coral atoll. The island is circular in shape, and is surrounded by coral reefs. Taketomi Island is part of Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park, established in 1972.
Taketomi is known for its traditional Okinawan houses, stone walls, and sandy streets, making it popular with tourists. Various rules are in place to prevent the more aesthetically displeasing aspects of modern construction from ruining the beauty of the island, such as replacing hand-packed stone with concrete walls. Popular tourist activities include relaxing at the beach, snorkeling, taking an ox-cart ride through the village, and simply walking or biking around the island while enjoying the quaintness of the village and the natural scenery.
It is recognized by academics that Taketomi's traditional landscape is a modern product. Today Taketomi's houses are known for visually appealing red-tiled roofs. However, commoners were prohibited from building houses with roof tiles by Ryūkyū on Okinawa until its abolishment. The red-roofed house first appeared on Taketomi Island in 1905 and remained a symbol of wealth for decades. As late as in 1964, truly traditional thatched houses accounted for 40% of Taketomi's houses. Red-tiled roofs spread in parallel with the conservation movement.
Taketomi Island is accessible by a ten-minute boat ride from Ishigaki Island. All areas of the island are within walking distance. There are also various places to rent bicycles in the village.

Searching: Rare Wild Leopard Cat: Iromote Cat @ Ishigaki (Okinawa, Japan)
Ishigaki isn't a popular travel destination compared to the main island of Okinawa, Japan (沖縄). This time I do come with a pretty specific goal- that is to find the Iromote cat as part of this adventure. However I did not do my homework ahead of time thinking that this endangered wild cat would be found easily as the island of Ishigaki is already quite small. This rare wild cat is still a mystery for me, as there are many signs and posters which state signs of the Iromote cat, but I have yet to see actual traces of this rare wild leopard cat that is living on this small Okinawa island (Ishigaki 石垣島)
