ISHIKAWA BREWERY:
Tokyo Sake with History
Attraction at the Edge of The City
A centuries-old tradition, sake-making is an integral part of Japanese culture. Though its production is commonly associated with rural areas, Ishikawa Brewery has been brewing sake in the Tokyo area since 1863. Located near the Tama River, the brewery has remained a family run fixture spanning multiple generations. The current CEO, Yahachiro Ishikawa, sat down with us to talk about the rich history of this brewery and its relationship with the surrounding area.

“Tokyo SAKE Brewery” Fussa City Promotion Animation
This is Kaori who works at an international IT firm in Roppongi, Tokyo. Her plan to serve Japanese Sake made in Tokyo at a PR event she was in charge of was not accepted. Kaori who had lived overseas for a long time was unable to hide her frustration with this limitation because she was unable to understand the Japanese office customs and regulations.
Later, her colleague calmed her down and suggested she go to the Japanese Sake breweries to see the important traditional process of making Sake.
She discovered that it takes only an hour by train from Shinjuku to Fussa City, and there she visited two sake breweries. What she saw there was ….?
This animation is made for promotion of Fussa City, Tokyo.
■Tamura Sake Brewery
■Ishikawa Sake Brewery
Fussa City is situated in west Tokyo, one hour from central Tokyo by train.
The city has a cosmopolitan atmosphere : It boasts not just traditional sake breweries but also several multicultural shops and restaurants along National Route 16 near the U.S. Yokota Air Base.
The eternity of Tama River running through the city and the blazing red sky over the mountains at sunset is truly beautiful and it takes you away from reality.
Please come and feel the charms of Fussa.

VLOG: SAKE TO ME
Went to a brewery in Fussa, Japan with a couple of friends and this is the end product. T'was a nice day; a cold one, but definitely a very chilled and relaxed day. Enjoy!!!
If ever you find yourself in Fussa the brewery that was seen here in this vlog is called Ishikawa Brewery Co., Ltd. There were kind enough to show us around on this cold day and had let us sample sake for free. It was a great experience and was very informative.

Tokyo Blues Beer Review in Japan - A rare beer
Tokyo Blues Beer Review in Japan
Tokyo Blues was first released in 2015 as part of Ishikawa Shuzo’s move away from German style beer to the burgeoning craft beer market of IPAs and session ales. It’s got am abv of 4.5% and is readily available across Kanto and slowly making inroads across Japan. Ishikawa Tokyo Blues is advertised as a session ale but it’s best described as an American pale ale.
Tokyo Blues Ale pours a beautiful, hazy, pale gold with a nice thick head. Very nice bitterness with a bit of citrusy fruit notes. Overall, another wonderful brew from Ishikawa.
Their pale ales are not to be underestimated!
