Ishiyama-dera temple is located in Otsu city of Shiga prefecture. This temple is a beautiful suburban temple, next to Seta river (close to Lake Biwa) in Otsu city.
One of the highlights of this temple is the two deva kings that are at the front gate (san mon). These two statues are sculpted by two famous carvers of the Kamakura period Tankei and Unkei. The statues look two dimensional from a distance but by a close look you can see that they are three dimension statues. Very interesting... This temple is number thirteenth temple of the Saikoku (33 kannon temples of Kansai region) pilgrimage circuit.

Mangetsuji Temple with famous Ukimido (Floating Temple) Hall, Katata Ward, Shiga Prefecture
Mangetsuji Temple is a zen temple located in Katata Ward of Shiga Prefecture (Kansai Region) in Japan. Mangetsuji Temple is known for the Ukimido Hall which is built on the shores of lake Biwa (Biwa-ko) on the water. When the water is full this hall seems like floating on the water.
Mangetsuji is a small temple but the gorgeous views of the Lake Biwa and it's surroundings makes it a very popular temple to visit in Shiga Prefecture. The Ukimido is said to house about 1000 Amida Buddha statues in a small space.
The beautiful views of Shiga Prefecture and Lake Biwa, were subject to eight paintings to the famous Ukiyo-e Painter of Japan, Hiroshige. These paintings are known as Eights Views of Omi. Omi being the ancient name for Shiga Prefecture. One of the paints features the Geese returning home on Lake Biwa with the Ukimido Hall in the background. It is a beautiful painting along with the other seven views of Omi.

Room of Genji is located next the Main Worship Hall (Hondo) in Ishiyama-dera （石山寺） Temple, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
It is said that Lady Murasaki Shikibu wrote the famous novel of the Heian Period The Tale of Genji (Genji Monogatari) in this room under the full moon light in August, 1004.
There are conflicting theories of where Lady Murasaki actually wrote this novel, one theory says that she wrote the novel at Rozanji Temple in Kyoto City, where her residence is located. However she might have spent a month at Room of Genji at Ishiyama-dera Temple and wrote parts of the Tale of Genji here.
The large temple garden behind the main Temple, has a statue of Lady Murasaki Shikibu, which is a great sight to watch.

Ishiyama-dera temple is located in Otsu city, Shiga prefecture of Japan. The temple is also close to Kyoto city, the most popular destination for overseas travelers.
Ishiyamadera is a time-honored temple, whose history began in the 8th century.
Its main hall, the Kondo is the oldest of all buildings of the Kakezukuri style, which is that a building is sustained with several pillars on a slope.
The temple is vast and full of beautiful flowers and blossoms, so that you can enjoy those beautiful plants and trees in all seasons.

滋賀県大津市にあり、源氏物語の草案がなされたことでも有名な石山寺に参拝してきました。
境内は大変広く、様々な四季の花であふれている素晴らしいお寺でした。
また懸造りの木造建築としては最古で、国宝に指定されている本堂や、源頼朝が寄進した五重塔（国宝）、国の天然記念物に指定されている「けい灰石」の大きな岩盤など見どころも満載の訪れる価値のある場所だと感じました。

Keihan Railway Ishiyamadera Station (京阪電車石山寺駅）, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture
Keihan Electric Railway (京阪電車） owns and runs railways and bus lines primarily in the Kansai region. The Ishiyamadera Station (石山寺駅） is one of the final stops in the Ishiyama-Sakamoto line. Ishiyamadera Station is known for the nearby Ishiyamadera Temple, which is a very important temple for the Otsu city residents. Ishiyamadera Temple is also part of the Saikoku 33 Kannon pilgrimage of the western Japan. It is a nice little station and you can go hiking and other sight seeing around Lake Biwa (largest lake in Biwa), if you are not into visiting temples. Enjoy!!!

【駅訪問2013】京阪石山坂本線 石山寺駅 Ishiyamadera Station, Otsu Japan
石山寺駅は滋賀県大津市にある京阪大津線(石山坂本線)の駅です。 Ishiyamadera Station is a train station on Keihan Railway Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture.
石山寺の最寄り駅です。 There is Ishiyama Temple near this station.
石山坂本線の終点です。私鉄の終着駅らしく、乗車ホームと降車ホームが分かれています(ただし私が訪問したときは降車ホームは使用されていませんでした)。京阪で最後の反転フラップ式案内表示機(発車標)が残っている駅でもあります。駅員配置駅です。
