The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) came into inception in January 2016 when the Government of Pakistan decided to merge the three large exchange markets of the country into one combined market.



Founded on 18 September 1947, Karachi Stock Exchange Limited (KSE) was registered in Pakistan. The Karachi Stock Exchange Limited (KSE), was a stock exchange located at the Stock Exchange Building (SEB) on Stock Exchange Road, in the heart of Karachi's Business District, I. I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi, Sindh Province of Pakistan.[19] It was Pakistan's largest and one of the oldest stock exchange in South Asia. Karachi Stock Exchange was also listed among 10 best stock markets in the world in 2015.[20][21] According to Bloomberg, the Pakistani benchmark stock market index is the third-best performer in the world since 2009.[22] In June 2015, Khaleej Times reported that since 2009, the Pakistani equities delivered 26 percent a year for US dollar investors, making Karachi the best-performing stock exchange in the world. As of 10 July 2015, total market capitalization reached Rs. 7.33 trillion (US$72 billion approximately).



Lahore Stock Exchange is located in Lahore, Pakistan. It was formally inducted into the national Pakistan Stock Exchange on 11 January 2016. The Lahore Stock Exchange (Guarantee) Limited came into existence in October 1970, under the Securities and Exchange Ordinance of 1969 by the Government of Pakistan in response to the needs of the provincial metropolis of the province of Punjab. It initially had 83 members and was housed in a rented building in the crowded Bank Square area of Lahore



Islamabad Stock Exchange or ISE was the youngest of the three stock exchanges of Pakistan and is located in the capital of Pakistan. Islamabad stock exchange (ISE) was incorporated as a guarantee-limited company on 25 October 1989 in Islamabad. ISE tower is a 22-storey building, which makes it the second highest building of Islamabad after the Telecom Tower. Area covered by the building is 562,629 sq ft (52,269.9 m2), it consists of three levels of basements and ground plus 18 floors above.

PSX was launched on 11 January 2016.Prior to the formal launch, the Karachi Stock Exchange held a two-day pre-production mock trading session for all certificate holders of the three bourses. The integration is expected to help reduce market fragmentation and create a strong case for attracting strategic partnerships necessary for providing technological expertise and assistance. The integration of the three exchanges has completed the second phase of the Stock Exchanges Demutualisation and Integration Act 2012, passed by a joint session of parliament.

STORYLINE:

More than a hundred investors protested outside one of Pakistan's main stock markets on Friday, after suffering heavy losses during a sharp slump in share prices.

Many of the angry protesters gathered outside the Islamabad Stock Exchange said they had lost everything due to the steep decline in the markets.

After a period in which it seemed that private investors would enjoy an endless rise in share prices, reality struck this week as indexes on stock markets across Pakistan slumped.

Many of the protestors complained of mismanagement in the stock exchange and are angry that, as prices keep tumbling, they can't sell their stock
due to a circuit breaker system that halts trading after a 5 percent fall in share prices.

The protests in Islamabad come after rioting erupted outside the Karachi Stock Exchange on Thursday, which has been similarly affected by the collapse in share prices.

Islamabad (16th June, 2019) Fire erupted in the building of Islamabad Stock Exchange on Sunday.
Fire vehicles of fire brigades reached to the site of fire and distinguished it.
Rescue sources said that the fire erupted in first floor of the building.
No loss of life was reported in the incident as the building was vacant due to Sunday holiday.
The fire has been put out by the efforts of rescue teams.

Pakistan Stock Exchange was established on September 18, 1947 and was formally incorporated on March 10, 1949 under the name of ‘Karachi Stock Exchange’, as a Company limited by Guarantee. In October 1970, a second stock exchange was established in Lahore to meet the stock trading needs of the provincial metropolis. In October 1989, Islamabad Stock Exchange was established to cater to the investors of the northern parts of the country. Because the three exchanges had separate management, trading interfaces, indices, and had no mutualized structure, therefore the Stock Exchanges (Corporatization, Demutualization and Integration) Act, 2012 was promulgated by the Government of Pakistan which ultimately resulted in the three exchanges integrating their operations effective January 11, 2016 under the new name ‘Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited’ (PSX).

2Avari Hotels International is a Pakistani international hospitality management company which operates five hotel properties in Pakistan, two in Dubai and one in Toronto.[1]

Its first hotel is the Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi which was founded in 1948 and later established the 17 story Avari Tower Hotel which boasts 120 suits at their Karachi location.[2]

The hotel chain is owned by the Parsi Avari family and currently led by Byram D. Avari who is the Chairman, Avari Group.[3][4]

3n 1908 Nedous Hotel was established at the place where Avari Lahore is situated now. In 1961 Nedous was auctioned to the late Mr Dinshaw Avari and was renamed Park Luxury Hotel.

The foundation stone for the present hotel was laid on September 23, 1973 and was inaugurated on January 3, 1978, in association with Hilton International on management agreement.

In 1988 Avari Hotels Limited entered in to a franchise agreement with Ramada Renaissance Hotels International, which also ended in December 1994.

Avari Lahore is operating under the current name since 1994. It's a family owned business, presently chaired by Mr Byram. D. Avari.

At present Avari have properties in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Dubai respectively with plans to expand locally and internationally in the near future.

4Pearl-Continental Hotels & Resorts (also abbreviated to PC Hotels) is the largest chain of five-star hotels in Pakistan with properties in Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gwadar, Bhurban, and Muzaffarabad.[1] Pearl-Continental Hotels is a subsidiary of Hashoo Group who also operate Marriott Hotels in Islamabad and Karachi through a franchise system.[2]
