Kauai Island known also as the Garden Island. The tiny tropical island. This is one of the three Hawaiian islands that I decided to visit. I spent three days there, drove 315 miles by car and visited, incl. the places described below. My hotel was in the Kapaa area. It is geologically the oldest and northernmost island of the main Hawaiian Islands. Some parts of Kauai are only accessible by sea or air. Island is characterized by its wealth of lush, rich lands, including vast tropical rainforests, jaw-dropping mountains and stunning beaches. Part of Kauai’s unique charm is the fact that the island has remained relatively undeveloped.

Kauai by Helicopter | Hawaii
It takes a bird’s eye view from a helicopter to see what the Hawaiian island of Kauai really looks like and witness the natural breathtaking beauty of the Garden Isle.
Jenna and I had the opportunity to take a helicopter tour of Kauai during our last visit. We lifted off from the Lihue Airport towards Nawiliwili harbor and the Kauai Marriot Resort.
Our first air destination was the tropical Hanapepe Valley which is known for its fantastic rainbows.
Next we saw the 400 ft. high Manawaiopuna Falls made famous in the movie Jurassic Park and entered Olokele Canyon, the gateway to the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Waimea.
We explored the spectacular and isolated NaPali Coast and saw majestic mountains, cascading waterfalls, secluded beaches and pristine cathedral cliffs.
As our flight continued past the ancient caves and terraces, our pilot and owner of Island Helicopters - Curt Lofstedt - shared great legends of Hawaii and its people.
We also saw Bali Hai and Lumahai Beach made famous in the movie South Pacific and flew to Hanalei Bay & Valley with a view of Princeville Resort.
Finally we flew inside the crater of Mt. Waialeale volcano where waterfalls cascade thousands of feet to the valley below.
Many other fantastic locations were seen on this tour including Wailua Falls seen on the 80's TV show Fantasy Island.
This is a tour you don’t want to miss during your visit to Kauai. In the meantime, enjoy the video we took during our flight. Thank you to Island Helicopters for the amazing experience.
Island Helicopters is one of the oldest helicopter companies in Hawaii, started in 1980. The company is family owned and locally operated. They specialize in very personal tours for the independent traveler, families or groups of any size. They are the only company where the owner, Curt Lofstedt - our pilot -, continues to fly tours.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters - Manawaiopuna waterfalls on island of Kauai
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
This was the waterfall featured in the movie Jurassic Park. The picture pilot filming aerial sequences for this movie was David Chevalier of Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. After Hurricane Iniki hit the island many aerial shots had to be completed on the island of Maui. Honokohau falls in West Maui was filmed as the plate shot for the falls passing by the window of the helicopter as it descended to land at Manawaiopuna falls on Kauai.
THE BLUE HAWAIIAN DIFFERENCE There's simply no argument: Blue Hawaiian is Hawaii's #1 helicopter tour company. Blue Hawaiian's aircraft maintenance technicians have received the FAA's coveted Certificate of Excellence, Diamond Award every year since 1998. And Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii certified by the Department of Defense.
Welcome to the Blue Skies of Hawaii. Blue is the only helicopter tour company serving all four major Hawaiian islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. We don't just operate the best equipment, we help develop it. From the ultra-quiet, spacious, and powerful 21st-century Eco-Star helicopter to the breakthrough Garmin G500H technology, which gives our pilots astonishing three-dimensional synthetic vision terrain awareness in less than optimal weather; from our pioneering of multi-camera in-flight video, to designing vastly improved cockpit air-conditioning—Blue Hawaiian is always at the forefront of leading-edge innovations for your safety, comfort, and enjoyment. Because when it comes to our guests, good enough is never enough.
The finest pilots in the sky. Blue Hawaiian prides itself on hand-picking only the finest and most experienced pilots—the absolute cream of the profession—and every one of them is a State of Hawaii Certified Tour Guide. High above the Helicopters - Kauai, Hawaii
Here I am up so high on the mountains that the helicopters can be barely seen below me. Kauaʻi or Kauai[3] (play /ˈkaʊ.aɪ/; Hawaiian: [kɔuˈwɐʔi]), known as Tauaʻi in the ancient Kaua'i dialect, is geologically the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands. With an area of 562.3 square miles (1,456.4 km2), it is the fourth largest of the main islands in the Hawaiian archipelago, and the 21st largest island in the United States.[4] Known also as the Garden Isle, Kauaʻi lies 105 miles (170 km) across the Kauaʻi Channel, northwest of Oʻahu. This island is the site of Waimea Canyon State Park.
The United States Census Bureau defines Kauaʻi as Census Tracts 401 through 409 of Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, which is all of the county except for the islands of Kaʻula, Lehua, and Niʻihau. The 2000 census population of Kauaʻi (the island) was 58,303.

Kauaʻi - Hawaiʻi, USA
The oldest major island of the Hawaiian Island Chain, the five-million-year-old verdant Garden Isle of Kauaʻi is a place where earth & fire from extinct volcanoes have retired from bringing up the island from the depths of the ocean and now water & wind take their turn sculpting her with rugged beauty & majesty.

Our itinerary of the places we went to are listed below (not all in the video):
1) Kukui Grove
2) Kauai Bakery
3) Waimea Canyon State Park
4) Talk Story Bookstore
5) Historic Old Town Hanapepe (home of lilo & stitch)
6) Shrimp Station
7) Spouting Horn Park
