Faro Island, Praia de Faro (Algarve Portugal) - Wish You Were Here!
Take a trip with me to Praia de Faro (Algarve Portugal) also known as Faro Island. In this Portugal Travel Guide we take a leisurely stroll to the beach on Ilha de Faro (Faro Island) and visit Wax Resto Bar
The Ilha de Faro is connected to the mainland via a single road bridge, and this central area is the most developed section of the beach, with bars, restaurants and low rise hotels. There is a road which follows the beach in both directions and is lined with Portuguese holiday homes and smaller beach bars, that eventually leads to deserted beaches at either end of the Ilha de Faro.
The main activities on the Praia de Faro are simply relaxing, toping up the tan, or chilling out in one of the beach bars. For the more active visitors, there is a surf school which provides lessons and hires surf boards.
Kayaks and stand-up paddle boards can also be hired from the “Centro Náutico da Praia de Faro” to explore the water ways of the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
Swimming in the sea is not a very pleasant activity, as the sea temperature is shockingly cold, only rising to 15ºC during the summer months.
The Praia de Faro is the best beach in the Faro region and is easily accessible from the city, via the regular bus service that also serves the airport (see later in this guide for details of the bus service).
The glorious soft golden sands of the beach extend for 5km, along the entire sea facing side of the Ilha de Faro (Faro Island), while the rear of the island overlooks the lagoons and tidal mud flats of the Ria Formosa national park.
It is hard to believe that this laid-back resort town is less than 5 minutes from Faro airport, and that it’s virtually unknown by foreign tourists!

ILHA DO FAROL PARADISE IN ALGARVE | VLOG #11
Ilha do Farol is the Paradise in the Algarve! It was my first time in this place and I was AMAZED! This is PARADISE!
So for you to go to this paradise of Ilha Do Farol you can either go from the city of Faro or from Olhão. I did it from Olhão and if you wanna go from there you just have to go to the pier and get a ferry that costs only 2 euros. This trip takes around 40 minutes because it stops before in another island, but you wanna stay in the second stop with is the Lighthouse island.
After you arrived in the island you will be able to see the Lighthouse in the middle of the island and from there to the beach is just 2 minutes walk.
This island is not very well known so even if you come in the middle of august the beach will not be full of you can have a great time in this paradise without being worried about noise and space.
Enjoy your time in this island and make sure you go up in the Lighthouse, you might have to wait for a few minutes before going up but believe me that the view from up there is worth it and free of charge.
Make sure you subscribe for more info about other cities around the world!

Faro City, Portugal The Algarve WATCH BEFORE YOU FLY!
The City of Faro, Portugal in The Algarve. I take a look around the City of Faro in Portugal in The Algarve.
Faro is a historic and culturally rich city that boasts a variety of fascinating tourist attractions. Sadly, Faro is often overlooked, considered purely for its airport, but spend time in Faro, and you will discover a charming and authentic Portuguese city.
The delightful historic centre of Faro is encircled by ancient city walls and contains a Gothic cathedral, the Bishop’s palace and pretty cobbled backstreets. Outside of the walls is the modern city centre, with its pedestrianised shopping streets, scenic plazas and variety of restaurants and bars.
Portugal is also famous for Sardines, and I come across what must be the coolest Sardine Shop ever!

ALGARVE: Faro city (Portugal)
Faro is the southernmost city in mainland Portugal, in the Algarve region. The Old Town is a well-preserved section of town off the harbour with cobblestone streets and 18th century Portuguese and Moorish-influenced architecture.
Faro Airport is located 4 km (2.5 mi) to the west of Faro.

Day trip to Farol Island near Faro
Had a great day out with Jane & John on their boat aver to Farol Island near Faro Island. Had a great trip over and stopped off for lunch, and a look around, trip back was slow and bumpy because of the chop but was still a great day.
Faro Island Night flight
Faro Island is located in the south part of Portugal in Algarve.
The Faro Island, also known as Faro Beach has the access facilitated through a bridge, and can be made either by foot or by car.
An extensive sandy area welcomes the visitor, with sea on one side and the river on the other.
This is a great beach for nautical sports, such as surf and windsurf, among others. With the offering of accommodation and a campsite, this is not the most peaceful and quiet island of the Algarve, but even so, and for those who do not mind to explore other spots and nooks of this island, it is always possible to find idyllic places here.

Praia de Faro, Portugal - first impressions
This is from my first visit to the Praia de Faro, Portugal (Faro's Beach). The beach is accessible by bridge across the Ria Formosa lagoon and there is regular buss service from Faro and Montenegro. Alternatively I simply walked from the Montenegro suburb around the airport, which took a bit of time, maybe around an hour. Which is my only gripe with that town, the airport is on the way to the only walkable access to the beach and one has to go all way around it if wants to reach the sea by foot. Otherwise the sand is very good the weather is very warm for such late time of the year. There are huge seashells lying on the beach and generally the atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxed.

Algarve is the most popular tourist destination in Portugal, and one of the most popular in Europe. It is currently the third richest region in Portugal, after Lisbon and Madeira.
Tourism and related activities are extensive and make up the bulk of the Algarve's summer economy. Production of food, which includes fish and other seafood, fruit, oranges, carob beans, figs and almonds, is also economically important in the region.
The western Algarve is also known as “Rocky Algarve” due to the impressive limestone rocks dominating the coastline. Small romantic bays, hidden creeks and caves formed by the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, accessible only by boat, are surrounded by rugged rock formations. This scenario is interrupted by several large bays with sandy beaches.
According to World Travel Awards, Algarve is the Europe's Leading Golf Destination 2013 and 2014. There are over 25 top-class courses in the Algarve, most of which were designed by legendary names such as Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus and Christy O'Connor Jnr.
The Algarve is famous for its pottery and ceramics, particularly hand-painted pottery and azulejos, which are painted, tin-glazed ceramic tiles. There are numerous ceramics and pottery outlets throughout the Algarve. For working potteries and ceramics workshops the main, or best-known, pottery centers are located in the towns of Almancil, Porches and Loulé, but there are many other potteries and workshops in the Algarve region.
Algarve (from Arabic: al-Gharb the West) is the southernmost region of continental Portugal, on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
