Exploring & Photographing The Coolest Lighthouse In Scotland!?
Episode 6 from the Lewis and Harris series (and probably my favourite one) sees me explore Eilean Glas Lighthouse on the Isle of Scalpay. This lighthouse is definitely one of the most interesting places I've ever explored and photographed!

Isle of Scalpay - Abandoned House and a Phenomenal Rainbow
Episode 5 from the Isle of Lewis and Harris series sees me begin my exploration of the Isle of Scalpay (a small island connected to Harris via bridge). We discover an abandoned house, walk up a hill to get a 360 view of the island, and begin our walk to the lighthouse - where we're greeted by a beautiful rainbow over the sea.
This episode is a bridge to next weeks (which is definitely one of my favourites from the series). Stay tuned for that one!

Lighthouse The Isle of May Outer Firth of Forth Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of the lighthouse on the Isle of May from the coast and on boat trip to the Outer Firth of Forth. The May Isle has long been a focal point of the nearby fishing communities. Annually, the wives and children of the small village of Cellardyke were taken to the May Isle for a picnic by the fishermen. On 1 July 1837 one such trip turned to tragedy when one of the small row boats used to transport them to Kirkhaven harbour overturned leading to the loss of 13 lives. A proper lighthouse was built on the island in 1816 by Robert Stevenson. During the height of the breeding season, over 200,000 seabirds nest on the island, including puffins, black-legged kittiwakes, razorbills, guillemots, shags, fulmars, oystercatchers, eider ducks, and various species of tern and gull.
Scotland - the view from Scalpay, Outer Hebrides
Footage taken on 22 July 2007. 360° view taking in the the Shiant Islands, the Minch, the Little Minch, the Isle of Skye, Harris and North Uist.
Lighthouse at the most northern part of the Island of Lewis, Scotland.
Breathtaking scenery from the buftt of Lewis. This is right at the north of the island at the very tip. The drop from the cliffs is extremely far and the weather can be ferocious. Hope you enjoy,

Dunnet Head Lighthouse is the most northerly point of Scottish Mainland built in 1831.
Dunnet Head Lighthouse is one of over 200 located around Scotland’s coastline. This lighthouse is the most northerly point of Scottish Mainland (it is 2.35 miles north of John O’Groats). It is only 20 metres tall but 105 metres above sea level due to the cliffs. At the end of the video you can see across the Pentland Firth towards the Orkney Islands.
Designed by Robert Stevenson and built in 1831. It was manned up till 1989 and thereafter become automated.

Four passengers injured after plane BLOWN OFF runway as UK faces end of clear skies and 15mm
Four passengers injured after plane BLOWN OFF runway as UK faces end of clear skies and 15mm rain tomorrow
Four passengers were injured today after a plane was blown off the runway amid 80mph winds, as Britain braces itself for days of grey skies and heavy downpours.
The twin-propeller Saab 340 was attempting to take off from Stornoway Airport on the Isle of Lewis just before 8.30am when strong gusts caused it to veer off the tarmac and nose-dive into the grass, sparking a major investigation.
It came as a deep Atlantic depression whipped Machrihanish, Argyll, with 77mph winds, while gales of 71mph were detected in Edinburgh.
Depsite a wind warning remaining in place for the Shetland Islands - where gales of around 75mph are expected until about 11pm tonight - forecasters say the wind will continue to ease this evening.
But it will still be a weekend of miserable weather for most people, as a band of low pressure sweeps across the UK tomorrow, drenching the southern and central areas with up to 15mm rain.

Exploring Remote Island | Abandoned House!
In a non-motorised video, I decided to explore the Island of Grunay. The island was home for the Lighthouse Keepers in the 30's-40's, when it was attacked after a set of German Bombers mistaken the house for a Bullet Factory. The house was still liveable afterwards though. But in the mid 40's then a British Bristol Blennheim Bomber attempted to crash land on the isle and had failed , resulting in the plane crashing into the rocks. The house is now in a crippled state but most of its interior and the items inside are still intact. plus there is more to this island to see. So join me in this epic adventure on this beautiful island!

Outer Hebrides
I travelled to Europe’s Atlantic edge, the Scottish Western Isles of the Outer Hebrides which are a diverse chain of inter-connected islands with their own unique way of life.
During this trip i experienced the remote tip of the Isle of Lewis down to the southern tip of Vatersay. The islands of the Outer Hebrides islands offered me an exciting assortment of many entertainments and attractions.
I experienced the absolute and total peace and tranquillity of these isolated environments and accepted the warm Outer Hebrides welcome of communities that offered me the traditional Hebridean hospitality.
During my travels on the Outer Hebrides i encountered many many birds and , beasts and all the rest of the Hebrides wildlife that flourishes in the unique environment, and enjoyed the other many activities that were on offer in the amazing outdoors.

Episode 010 - The Eilean Mor Lightkeepers
ADDENDUM:
The story of the Eilean Mor lightkeepers is probably best described as a 'pseudo-mystery'. Most honest investigations will conclude that the men probably died via a rogue wave.
Probably.
There is just enough wiggle-room to allow doubt to take root. And though it’s important not to let one's imagination run wild into credulous fantasy, the process of constructing possible theories is both intellectually stimulating and healthy.
Who knows what insights can be brought to life by theorizing about an unknown?
Much has been made of the Archtor’s initial passing on the 15th and the delay in Captain Holman’s reporting of the light’s non-operation. A day or two after the Flannan Isle passing, the Archtor had suffered damage when nearly running aground on Carphie Rock, which delayed its arrival in the port of Leith, where the information regarding the darkened lighthouse was finally relayed (even though some sources indicate Captain Holman had already wirelessly telegraphed the information and received a response to the effect of ‘We’ll get around to it when we get around to it’).
Of course, by the time the Archtor arrived in the Flannans, the men were likely already gone., so the point is purely academic.
If anyone is wondering…William Ross, who had the good fortune of being out sick on the day of the tragedy, was transferred to the lighthouse on Eilean Glas, on the eastern coast of Scalpey Island in the Outer Hebrides. Sixteen months after the events at Eilean Mor, Ross dropped dead while on duty, presumably from a heart attack.
And, on an ancillary note, though Vincent Gaddis’ assessment of McArthur is well reasoned, he was mistaken when referring to McArthur as a ‘seaman’. McArthur was in fact a veteran of the British army.
Keith MacCloskey's book 'The Lighthouse' is an excellent history of not just the Eilean Mor lighthouse, but lighthouses in general. MacCloskey does not seem entirely convinced by the ‘rogue wave’ theory and sites either high winds or foul play as somewhat likely possibilities.
Also, a very well sourced and well written essay on the whole affair by historian Mike Dash can be found here:
