In this amazing place we can find great attractions for tourists that like a good choice of restaurants with excellent food. You can also get a good foot massage. The many Beach Shacks provide it all at reasonable prices and friendly staff.
Isola Bella is an island of Italy located in the Ionian Sea, in Sicily, in Taormina, an Italian town in the province of Messina. The small distance from the coast sometimes, due to the tide, is annulled, making it a peninsula. It is also called the pearl of the Mediterranean.

Isola Bella in Taormina - Sicily
Isola Bella lies on the coast at the foot of Taormina in Sicily. You can take a cable car or walk down the winding road to the pebbly beach at the bottom. Take an excursion boat around the Capo Sant'Andrea, snorkel around the rocks of Isola Bella or just relax at the cafe and watch the swimmers and bobbing boats. Isola Bella is a small island near Taormina, Sicily, southern Italy. Also known as The Pearl of the Ionian Sea, it is located within a small bay on the Ionian Sea; it was a private property owned by Florence Trevelyan until 1990, when it was bought by the Region of Sicily, being turned into a nature reserve, administrated by the Italian branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature.
There is a narrow path that often connects the island to the mainland beach. The island has a small and rather rocky beach which is a popular destination for sunbathers. King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies gifted the island to the nearby town of Taormina in 1806. The island was in 1890 bought from the town by a Ms. Florence Trevelyan, who built a small house facing the sea and imported exotic plants, which thrived in the Mediterranean climate. Subsequent owners kept up the island, until the owner went bankrupt, and auctioned the island in 1990.
The island had been noted by conservationists as early as 1983, and it was quickly obtained by the Region and designated as a protected natural site. The island is home to several species of birds, and a few types of lizards.

L'isolotto di Isolabella, già di S.Stefano, è all'interno della baia omonima delimitata dal promontorio di Sant'Andrea a Nord e di Capo Taormina a Sud, congiunto alla terra da breve istmo sommerso o scoperto a seconda della marea. Rappresenta, senza dubbio, uno dei paesaggi storici del Mediterraneo più suggestivi e rinomati. Conserva frammenti della macchia mediterranea frammisti ad essenze esotiche introdotte dagli ultimi proprietari. Si articola in piccoli terrazzamenti collegati da scalette e camminamenti dovuti ad una sistemazione a giardino, realizzata forse da E.Trevelyan (le fonti sono discordi).
Sembra che l'isolotto sia stato donato alla Città di Taormina dal re Ferdinando I di Borbone nel 1806 in occasione della sua visita alla Città. Fu edificato solo negli anni '50 dello scorso secolo dagli allora proprietari Bosurgi, industriali messinesi, che vi costruirono una villa, articolata in padiglioni mimetizzati tra le rocce.

The little Island of Isolabella, formerly called of Santo Stefano, is situated within of the same name delimited by the promontory of Sant'Andrea to the North and Capo Taormina to the South. The islet is joined to the mainland by a short isthmus, submerged or above sea-level depending on the tide. It represents, without doubt, one of the most suggestive and renowned historical landscapes of the Mediterranean. It preserves pockets of primeval Mediterranean macchia (scrub) intermixed with exotic plants introduced by the last owners. The Island is landscaped with a series of small terraces linked by small stairways and pathways laid out when it was transformed into a garden, perhaps by E. Trevelyan (the sources disagree on this point).
It seems that the islet was donated to the City of Taormina by King Ferdinand I of Bourbon in 1806 on the occasion of his visit to the City. Not until the 1950s was Isolabella built on by the then owners Bosurgi, industrialists from Messina, who built a villa there, articulated in a series of pavilions camouflaged to merge wiyh the rocks.

L'isola Bella (isula Bedda in siciliano) è un'isola dell'Italia sita nel mar Ionio, in Sicilia, a Taormina, comune italiano della provincia di Messina.
L'esigua distanza dalla costa a volte, a causa della marea, si annulla, rendendola una penisola. È chiamata anche la perla del Mediterraneo.
Donata nel 1806 da Ferdinando I di Borbone a Pancrazio Ciprioti sindaco di Taormina, fu acquistata nel 1890 da Florence Trevelyan che la valorizzò costruendovi una casetta e piantumandovi rare essenze pregiate.
Nel 1954 fu acquistata per 38.000 ₤ dai fratelli Leone ed Emilio Bosurgi, che vi realizzarono un villaggio con 12 residenze autonome ed una minuscola piscina camuffata fra rocce e piantagioni, al fine di allietare ed ospitare i loro amici imprenditori e banchieri.
Nel 1990 l'isola fu infine acquistata dall'Assessorato dei beni culturali della Regione Siciliana. Nel 1998 fu istituita riserva naturale, gestita dal WWF, poi dalla Provincia di Messina e di recente passata in gestione al CUTGANA, centro di tutela ambientale dell'Università di Catania.
Nel 2006 Isola Bella assieme a Taormina sono state iscritte nella Tentative List UNESCO per avere il riconoscimento di sito Patrimonio dell'Umanità
