Exploring Tel-Aviv: Eretz Israel Museum / מוזיאון ארץ ישראל
******Available in HD******
Hi, everybody!
Today we'll have a small history of art/history lesson, visiting Eretz Israel Museum in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
I didn't manage to go through everything there as this museum is pretty big, but I'll try to show you the most interesting bits,
I really like the Glass Pavilion there:
The Eretz Israel Glass Pavilion takes visitors on a unique journey through time, traveling back thousands of years to the earliest days of glassmaking in this region. Donated from the rich private collection of Dr. Walter Moses, who founded the Eretz Israel Museum in 1958, this rare and beautiful assemblage of glass has been enhanced over the years by exciting new acquisitions and significant donations.
Visitors to the Glass Pavilion are drawn not only by the enchanting displays of ancient glass objects, but also by the presentation of the history, range and intricate art of glassmaking. Among the unique features are fragile relics of glass dating from biblical times, as well as some of the earliest blown glass discovered from the Roman period. Contributing greatly to the study of the originsGlass Pavilion of glassmaking, and especially the important invention of glass blowing, the Pavilion highlights the crucial role played by this region in the discovery of glass and its production.
We also went to the Man and His Work Center.
The Center displays the traditional material culture of the Land of Israel in numerous spheres of daily life, among them agriculture, crafts, domestic work, design, and decoration. The Center is rooted in the 1930s when Professor Avitsur, after whom it is named, began studying the subject and collecting ethnographical artifacts and utensils illustrating traditional ways of life.
Archaeological finds show that work tools, artifacts and production methods have scarcely changed over thousands of years of history and have been used until recent years in the Arab localities, Bedouin encampments and by Jews living in the Land of Israel and neighboring countries. Most of the exhibits in the collection are ethnographical and relate to recent generations; nonetheless they are enlightening as they show life in ancient times as well.
The Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv, is a multidisciplinary museum that focuses on the history and culture of Israel through comprehensive permanent and temporary exhibits in the diverse fields of archeology, ethnography, post and philately, folklore, Judaica, traditional crafts, and popular art, cultural history, and local identity.
The museum, which is one of the third largest in Israel, is spread over an area of some 20 acres, and comprises about 15 buildings and various installations. Hundreds of thousands of items are housed in the diverse museum collections, among them numerous and rare treasures.
In the center of the museum, adjacent to the buildings and exhibit spaces, stands Tell Qasile - an ancient archeological mound dating from the 12th century BCE. Additional ancient relics, such as mosaics, oil presses, an ancient wine press, flour mills, etc. can be found in the gardens surrounding the site.
In addition to the ten permanent exhibitions and ancient sites, the museum displays about 20 temporary exhibits every year, and also conducts symposiums, lectures and meetings with curators and scholars in various fields. The museum site also houses an innovative planetarium, halls of various sizes, lecture rooms and workshops, a cafeteria, and a gift shop.

The Museum of Caricature and Comics Holon
The establishment of the museum is the realization of a dream for the community of caricaturists and comics artists in Israel and also for the tens of thousands of comics lovers who now have a permanent platform for activity in this field. The museum exposes visitors to the various facets, contexts and qualities of the art of caricature with the aim of promoting a better understanding and awareness of the need for caricatures in society. The museum encourages and supports research of caricature in Israel and its role as a reflection and critique of local reality.
The museum was conceived of by Holon mayor Mr. Moti Sasson, municipal CEO Hannah Hertzman, the Holon Theater, and the Israeli Association of Caricaturists and it is the result of great progress in these art mediums over recent years.
A DAY IN HOLON, ISRAEL feat. שוויצריה הקטנה
In this video, I'm showing you guys the previous place where I spend my life for about eight (8) consecutive years taking care of my late employer, may her memory be a blessing. I went to her grandchild for a visit and it was great! The next morning, I walked around Sokolov Street. It brings back those nostalgia of the said place. The place where I considered myself I belong.

Belarus museum opens exhibit on Israeli leader
National History Museum of Belarus inaugurated an exhibition about Ariel Sharon this week.
Titled “Profile of a Leader,” the exhibition on the late Israeli prime minister was launched Monday on the entrance floor of the state museum. The ceremony was attended by diplomats, Jewish community leaders and Israeli guests connected to Sharon’s life, including his youngest son, Gilad, and Israel Maimon, who served Sharon’s Cabinet secretary.
Ariel Sharon's son Gilad said that he thought the museum would help strengthen the Dispora's connection to Judaism.
I hope that it will eventually make Jews make aliya. This is the most important Zionist action that anyone can do he said.
Gilad took the opportunity to address what Ariel Sharon was like as a father.
He was very busy, obviously, during the years, but when he was at home he was a full time father, a warm father, hugging. He taught me horseback riding, which I taught my son, and how to work on the farm. I was blessed, what can I say, he said.
Yuri Ambrazevitch, a senior official of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said that Ariel Sharon brought pride to Israel, but also to Belarus, where his roots lay,” said
Sharon was born in prestate Israel in 1928; his parents had immigrated there from what is now Belarus.
The exhibition — featuring dozens of photos of Sharon as well as quotes from his speeches and letters — was compiled by the Limmud FSU educational nonprofit.
“Russian-speaking Jews responded to Sharon’s warmth, they adored him,” said Limmud FSU founder Chaim Chesler, who knew Sharon. “He spoke Russian and would correct you if you made a mistake in Russian.”
Chesler added that “celebrating his life is celebrating world Jewry’s deep, deep roots in Belarus.”
The exhibition on Sharon, a former general and defense minister who died in January after eight years in a coma following a stroke, opened with a quote from his 2005 address before the United Nations General Assembly, months after Israel pulled out of Gaza.
“If the circumstances had not demanded it, I wouldn’t have become a soldier but rather a farmer,” he said. “My first love was and remains farming, sowing and harvesting, the pastures, the flocks and the cattle.”

Yohji Yamamoto at Design Museum Holon - First Time in Israel

In an Israeli first, Design Museum Holon is proud to show an exhibition by visionary designer Yohji Yamamoto. Maestro of avant-garde fashion, Yohji Yamamoto remains one of the world's most influential and enigmatic designers and over the last forty years has made a vital contribution to fashion, challenging traditional norms of clothing with his style. The exhibition at Design Museum Holon is particularly meaningful as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Japan-Israel relationship and the 40th anniversary of Yamamoto's company, Y's.
iAsiaTV crew arrived at the exhibition opening event, looking forward to meet Mr. Yamamoto. Unfortunately, Mr. Yamamoto had to cancel his visit this time, and will probably arrive at a later date to Israel. We met with two representatives from Yohji Yamamoto Inc. who arrived for the opening - CEO and President, Mr. Otsuka Shoei, and guest curator - Mrs. Coralie Gauthier, to discuss about the exhibition and its importance to the company. We also met with Galit Gaon, chief curator of the museum and curator of the exhibition about the preparations for this special exhibition

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
