Here at OnTheQT we love nothing more than a fun road trip... and so we could barely contain our excitement as our trip along the Wild Atlantic Way approached! Although it’s great fun to hop on a plane and explore exotic places half way across the world… more often than not we forget to explore what’s right in front of us! Over five days we travelled the first section of the 2,500km route along the Western seaboard! It was simply spectacular! Stop 1: Lough Hyne, Baltimore: A refreshing morning swim to kick-start our action packed day!

Stop 2: The Beacon, Baltimore: We couldn't possibly leave Baltimore without a trip to the iconic Beacon. The perfect viewing point out onto the Atlantic Ocean on a Summers day!

Stop 3: Future Forests: Next stop was the enchanting future forests garden centre nestled deep into West Cork! Stocking an abundance of colourful, unique and unusual plants and trees - you'll be sure to find the perfect purchase for your garden! (futureforests.ie)

Stop 4: Harbour Queen Ferry: Located on the pier in Glengarrif we hopped on the beautiful Harbour Queen Ferry to Garnish Island. Not just a mode of transport we were delighted when the crew pointed out the wildlife surrounding us! (harbourqueenferry.com)

Stop 5: Issie's Handmade Chocolate: Onto Castletownbere where we popped into Issie's Handmade Chocolate shop! Greeted with open arms we were in our element as we sampled the luxurious produce and chatted with the inspiring owner Isabel! (issieshandmadechocolate.com)

Stop 6: Molly Gallivans: Stepping into Molly Gallivan's cottage was like stepping 200 years back in time! We watched bread being made from scratch and baked over the fire before tasting some poitin... we haven't quite fallen in love with that yet! (mollygallivans.com)

Stop 7: Limestone Lodge B & B: Almost time for bed we checked into the lovely Limestone Lodge B & B just outside Kenmare town for a good nights sleep! (limestonelodgekenmare.com)
