Pompeii + Mount Vesuvius Day Trip ITALY
Took a day trip from Rome to Pompeii and back via a company I booked through Viator.com
The tour pickup was 7:30am at Piaza de Popolo, very easy to find the tour operators. Our guide was Stephanie, she was amazing. We had a local guide for the Pompeii site.
The total cost was about $155, included lunch at a nice restaurant and an AC minibus. Our group was about 16 people.
If you can make the journey there including the hike up Mount Vesuvius. It was a 13 hour day but well worth it.

About this Pompeii mini-documentary:
Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near Naples, in Italy. It was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 meters of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Today it’s some distance inland, but in ancient times was nearer to the coast. Pompeii is about 10 km away from Mount Vesuvius and covered a total of about 66 hectares.
About two thirds of the city has been uncovered.
The film features the ancient theatres and amphitheatre, streets and homes, bars and baths of ancient Pompeii.
The film ends at the Garden of the Fugitives, where there are casts of victims who died while attempting to flee and were then buried by volcanic ash and pumice.
Film by Deanna Allison.

A Day in Pompeii - Full-length animation
zerooneanimation.com
A Day in Pompeii, a Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition, was held at Melbourne Museum from 26 June to 25 October 2009. Over 330,000 people visited the exhibition -- an average of more than 2,700 per day -- making it the most popular traveling exhibition ever staged by an Australian museum.
Zero One created the animation for an immersive 3D theatre installation which gave visitors a chance to feel the same drama and terror of the town's citizens long ago, and witness how a series of eruptions wiped out Pompeii over 48 hours.
This video is available in full HD stereo. Please get in touch with Zero One through their website for licensing information for exhibitions, television and other media or to discuss 3D Visualisation solutions. Copyright 2010 Zero One Animation and Melbourne Museum.
Tour of the Ancient Roman City of Pompeii, Campania Region, Italy
The city of Pompeii is a partially buried Roman town-city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the commune of Pompei.
Along with Herculaneum, Pompeii was destroyed and completely buried during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days in the year AD 79.
The eruption buried Pompeii under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice, and it was lost for nearly 1700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1749.
Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire.
Today, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Italy, with approximately 2,500,000 visitors every year.
The ruins of Pompeii are situated near the modern suburban town of Pompeii (nowadays written with one i). It stands on a spur formed by a lava flow to the north of the mouth of the Sarno River (known in ancient times as the Sarnus). Today it is some distance inland, but in ancient times it would have been nearer to the coast.
Pompeii is about 8 km (5 miles) away from Mount Vesuvius. It covered a total of 163 acres, and would have been in the region of Campania.

POMPEII TOUR | DAY TRIP FROM ROME
On our first day in Italy, we headed down from Rome to Pompeii for a quick visit with a guide.
Here is a quick video summing up some of the key sights we saw on this HOT summer day in Pompeii! While it's immensely touristy and busy, it's still well worth the visit as the ruins are so incredibly well preserved and the ancient frescoes and walls and architecture are still so beautifully maintained.
Pompeii was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius and on our Pompeii tour, we learned about the history and key sights within the ancient site. The Pompeii ruins are beautiful and the Pompeii history is incredibly sad, but it's fascinating to learn and see.
Make sure you check it out and also check back again soon for our next video in the Amalfi Coast!!

POMPEII! TOUR OF THE MOST PRESERVED ANCIENT ROMAN CITY ???????? - VLOG
Pompeii is one of the most preserved ancient Roman cities and UNESCO sites. Today, we are taking a tour of the history of the ancient ruins.
Researchers believe that the town was founded in the 7th or 6th century BC by the Osci or Oscans. About 20,000 people lived in this city. Pompeii was a wealthy port city, destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The entire city was covered in ash and thousands of people buried alive and later unearthed by archaeologists.
In this tour, we visit the gladiator gym, Roman amphitheater, architecture, Roman houses, frescos, Roman steam baths, sauna, and more.
