OSAKA - For those of you who fly into and out of Osaka, you'll be happy to discover that, during this past week, Osaka's old-looking Itami Airport unveiled a huge, newly renovated area between the ANA and Japan Airline halls. This all-new area includes gift shops, convenience stores, barber shops, and a food court that features every type of Japanese cuisine, plus many foreign foods, including bagels, pizzas, hot dogs, ice cream, burgers, salads and much more.

イタッピーは伊丹市営バスで Itami City Bus
I visited Itami City in Japan on business in August and September, 2012.
There's an excellent bus service in this town.
The town overflowed with the bus!
I went to office by bus.
この夏は長期出張のため、兵庫県伊丹市で過ごしておりました。
（伊丹空港＝大阪空港のある街です）
伊丹市は市域は広くありませんが、鉄道の便が少し悪い街で、それを補うために伊丹市交通局のバス網がものすごく発達しています。
独自のICカード『itappy（イタッピー）』のほか、『ICOCA』『PiTaPa』も使える200円均一の便利なバスです。
出張期間中は毎日このバスに乗って通勤しましたが、9月末に出張が終わり、親しみの伊丹市営バスとお別れしてきました。
仕事の足として重宝した伊丹市営バスへの感謝の気持ちを映像に込めて伝えます。
（といってもいつもの坦々とした画作りですが(^^; ）

About Itami City
Itami City is located in the south-east of Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
The city is around 10 km from Osaka and is home to Osaka (Itami) International Airport. Itami's neighboring cities are Amagasaki, Nishinomiya, Takarazuka, and Kawanishi (Hyogo Prefecture), and Toyonaka and Ikeda (Osaka Prefecture).
Itami City is known as the birthplace of sake: around the year 1600, the technique for making clear or refined sake was first discovered in Itami's breweries, giving us the drink we know today.
Today, the city is home to the oldest sake brewery building in Japan - the Former Okada Residence and Sake Brewery, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property.
Itami is also famous as a sacred site for naginata training. As well as being home to the All Japan Naginata Federation headquarters, one of Japan's three biggest private dojos, Shubukan, is also located in the city. Shubukan Dojo still carries out naginata training today.

Osaka Monorail Ride from the Airport toward Kyoto

The trip between Osaka and Kyoto took a few trains, our favorite was the Osaka Monorail! This elevated rail is clean, reasonably priced, and fun to ride. You get a good view of the expansive city of Osaka. Our ride was about 25 minutes till we hoped of and found a train to take us the last few miles to Kyoto station. The Osaka Monorail is one of the longest monorail systems in the world, sitting in front we got a great view and it felt a little like a roller coaster as we watch the ups and downs or twists and turns. Riding public transportation in Japan is so easy, most stations have automated ticketing that allows you to change the directions to English (our Japanese is very limited).

Buying a sim card in some countries is hard, some it's easy. Buying a sim card in Japan is in the middle as it's not what you'd expect but it's still rather easy and the data isn't that expensive. It's not cheap but it's not that bad.
